Abstract

Early marriages in various countries, including Indonesia, can be legalized by the state based on "emergency reasons" in obtaining marriage dispensation in court. The emergency reason pattern can be used as a basis for intervention in handling this case.. This study aims to describe the 'emergency reasons' for marriage dispensation, examine their relationship with the demographic aspects of the offender, and examine the length of time the marriage dispensation was obtained. This research uses a descriptive quantitative survey approach. The instruments used in this research consist of demographic aspects of early marriage actors, as well as a review of "emergency reasons" in marriage dispensation decisions for 157 respondents at the Bawean Religious Court for 2019-2023. This research data analysis uses correlation techniques to show the direction and strength of the relationship between variables. This research proves that there is a relationship between the age and education of early marriage actors and the "emergency reasons" for marriage dispensation decisions, as well as a relationship between the length of the marriage dispensation process and the "emergency reasons" for marriage dispensation decisions. Other results prove that there is no significant relationship between the income of early marriage actors and the "emergency reasons" for marriage dispensation decisions. However, there is a significant correlation with one of the "emergency reasons", namely that the Husband is already working and has an income has a greater chance of getting a marriage dispensation.. The results of this research can be used as important material for regulating marriage dispensations for the Religious Courts, Office of Religious Affairs, Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia and other authorities.

Abstract

This research was initiated by the lack of spatial citizenship in geography learning from secondary to tertiary levels, even though this is crucial for becoming citizens with a spatial perspective. This study aims to develop an effective geography learning model to improve students' spatial citizenship. This study used the design-based research method, which has four stages: analysis of practical problems, design development, implementation, evaluation, and reflection. The research subjects were 250 students of Geography Education at Sebelas Maret University for needs analysis and 27 for product effectiveness testing. Data collection techniques were classroom observation, in-depth interviews, tests, expert judgment, and focus group discussions, testing the effectiveness using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The data analysis technique at the practical problem analysis stage was a constant comparative method. The geographical inquiry model is efficacious in improving students' spatial citizenship skills. Calculation of the paired sample t-test shows the value of Sig. (2-tailed) 0.05, so there are differences in learning outcomes using the geographical inquiry model in improving spatial citizenship skills. This geographic inquiry model effectively provides essential steps in conducting geographic inquiries to solve problems using geospatial data sources. This study concludes that if geographical inquiry is applied appropriately and comprehensively in geography education at the university level, it will provide students with the skills to become good citizens from a spatial perspective. For further research, it is hoped that applying the geographical inquiry model with a deep learning approach to geography learning can be studied

Abstract

In the age of abundant information, tourists increasingly turn to digital reviews to make quick informed decisions about destinations, but how these reviews shape their choices remains an important but underexplored topic. This study investigates the influence of the peripheral route from the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), focusing on the dimensions of Information Quantity and Product Ranking, on information adoption by tourists for the Milenial Glow Garden. The findings demonstrate that a high volume of reviews and favorable product ratings act as significant peripheral cues, guiding tourists' decision-making processes, particularly when they lack the motivation or ability to engage in deep cognitive processing. Aligning with ELM, it is evident that in the digital realm, tourists often rely on social proof—specifically review quantity and ratings—as a faster, more convenient means of decision-making. The study further reveals that younger tourists (aged 18 to 35) are especially influenced by review quantity and ratings, opting for decisions based on aggregated information. These cues enhance tourists’ perceptions of a destination’s credibility and appeal, especially for those motivated by FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and seeking modern, high-tech experiences. The results underline the growing reliance on digital information in the decision-making process, with review volume and star ratings significantly shaping urban tourists' perceptions and choices. This research provides valuable insights for digital tourism marketing, offering strategies for destination managers like Milenial Glow Garden to attract tourists who rely on heuristics, creating tech-driven and engaging tourism experiences.

Abstract

This research explores the gender shifts occurring in Oeseli, a remote village in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. In this village, women are the primary breadwinners due to socio-geographical conditions. Through a socio-geographic lens, this research explores how semi-arid climate and geographical boundaries of Sawu Sea affects an economy and leads to shifting gender roles. Through in-depth interviews and observations, the research highlights women's dual role as caregivers and breadwinners, which is exacerbated by men's migration in seeking greater economic opportunities outside the village. Despite their significant contributions to the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors, women in Oeseli face various constraints, including local resource, skill, and infrastructure limitations that hinder their full economic potential. Conceptually, this research reveals how semi-arid environmental pressures drive male labor migration and reconstruct gender roles, particularly for rural areas with limited natural resources such as Oeseli. It provides a new socio-geographical explanation of how ecological constraints lead to gender shifts. This qualitative case study research emphasizes an imperative for interventions that empower women, address gender inequalities, and foster sustainable development.  By bridging the traditional cultural practices with the evolving socio-economic realities, this research advocates for a more equitable distribution of labor and resources. In the end, the research aims to increase community resilience and achieve gender equality in Oeseli and similar contexts.

Abstract

Social science educators in training need strong spatial thinking skills to master geographical concepts, yet evidence shows that undergraduates in Social Science Education often have suboptimal abilities. This study examines the impact of the Problem-Based Hybrid Learning (PBHL) model on spatial reasoning skills of future social science educators. Using a quasi-experimental design, the research compared control and experimental groups through pre-test and post-test evaluations. Participants were Physical Geography students at the Social Sciences Education Department, Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Indonesia, focusing on Environment and Its Conservation during the 2020/2021 academic year. Purposive sampling selected the experimental class (29 students in class D) receiving PBHL and the control class (29 students in class B) taught with conventional methods. Spatial thinking skills were measured with essay tests of ten items covering comprehension, representation, analysis, spatial interaction, and application. Data were tested for normality and homogeneity, followed by an independent samples t-test. Results showed that PBHL significantly improved students’ spatial thinking skills (p = 0.003 α = 0.05). The experimental group achieved a higher average N-Gain (17.95) than the control group (12.62), with the greatest improvement in representation. The findings indicate that analysis and evaluation stages in PBHL are essential for success. Hybrid platforms provide opportunities for reflection, problem-solving, and information exchange. Future research should expand by testing more variables, replicating the model in other institutions, refining learning tools, enhancing lecturers’ roles as facilitators, and documenting student activities in PBHL implementation.

Abstract

This study developed a geography instruction framework based on geographic literacy to enhance high school students' life skills. This study was motivated by the limited relevance of conventional geography education to students’ real-life needs, particularly for those who do not pursue higher education. The model was designed using the ASSURE framework, which includes learner analysis, objective formulation, selection and utilization of media, student engagement, systematic evaluation, and revision. The participants consisted of 37 11th-grade students from SMA Negeri 7 Tasikmalaya.. Data were collected using questionnaires constructed based on indicators of geographic literacy and essential life skills questionnaires. The results from the limited trial indicated significant improvements in both hard skills (spatial data analysis and decision-making) and soft skills (communication and collaboration). The model systematically integrates geographic content, geospatial skills, and spatial perspectives into contextual and cooperative learning activities. These findings demonstrate that geographic literacy can serve as an effective pedagogical approach to equip students with essential 21st-century life skills. The model offers practical guidance for geography teachers in designing learning experiences that are more relevant, applicable, and meaningful.

Abstract

Geography learning about spatial patterns of villages and cities in high schools still faces obstacles in students' understanding of concepts due to teacher-centered learning. This study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) models with the help of Canva media on students' conceptual understanding. Quasi-experimental research was conducted at SMAN 10 Kendari on class XII IPS students. Class XII IPS.1 was designated as an experimental class that learned using problem-based models combined with Canva media, and class XII IPS.2 became a control class with conventional learning methods based on the same abilities. Research data were collected through a concept understanding test and then analyzed using parametric inferential statistical tests. The analysis using independent sample t test after get the normality and homogenity test. The results of the t-test showed a significance value of 0.000, with students in the experimental class having a higher increase in conceptual understanding than those in the control class. This finding shows that PBL utilizing Canva media has proven to be effective in helping students understand the subject matter in problem-oriented learning steps and media that attract students' attention. This study implies that the use of Canva digital media in PBL can be an effective strategy to improve students' conceptual understanding. Teachers are advised to use Canva digital learning media as a teaching aid, especially when implementing PBL, so that students can more easily understand the concepts being studied.

Abstract

Local culture shapes the ecological ethics of society, but globalization and commodification often erode its symbolic and ecological meaning. The Belis tradition in Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, which is rich in spiritual and ecological values, is now undergoing changes due to modernization. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of eco-pedagogy in preserving the symbolic relationship between humans and nature through the Belis tradition, identify ecological values, the impact of commodification, and formulate education strategies based on local wisdom. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data was collected through interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. Thematic analysis was conducted to examine human-nature relations, ecological values, and cultural commodification, with triangulation of sources and member checking for data validity. The results of this study show that the Belis tradition is not only a social and cultural practice, but also functions as a medium for ecological education that instills awareness of the sacred relationship between humans, livestock, and nature. However, the commodification of Belis culture, which has turned livestock into mere economic symbols, has threatened the ecological and spiritual values of this tradition. This research contributes to the development of a local wisdom-based education model for maintaining the relationship between humans and nature. Further research should explore the role of the younger generation in preserving the ecological values of the Belis tradition and formulate an applicable eco-pedagogical model in the context of Manggarai education

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of social environmental knowledge, ecoliteracy, and green lifestyle on students' environmental concern character within the school setting. Research on students’ environmental concern character is very important to conduct because, despite the implementation of various environmental education programs in schools, many students still exhibit a lack of concern for the environment, raising questions about the effectiveness of the influencing factors. Furthermore, debates continue regarding the effectiveness of social environmental knowledge, ecoliteracy, and green lifestyle, which have not yet fully shaped students’ environmental concern character. Therefore, this study seeks to examine whether social environmental knowledge, ecoliteracy, and green lifestyle influence students’ environmental concern character within the school setting. This study employed a survey method, in which the data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale for the environmental concern character variable and the green lifestyle variable. The variable of social environmental knowledge level was measured using a multiple-choice test, whereas the ecoliteracy variable was measured using an observation-based questionnaire. The data analysis technique employed was path analysis. All variable data, including the levels of social environmental knowledge, ecoliteracy, and green lifestyle, were entered into a correlation matrix to determine the degree of relationships among the variables. The respondents were 60 randomly selected students from SMA Muhammadiyah 23 Jakarta, who served as the unit of analysis. The findings indicate that students’ environmental concern character is directly influenced by the level of social environmental knowledge, ecoliteracy, and green lifestyle. In addition, this study found that social environmental knowledge and ecoliteracy indirectly influence environmental concern character through green lifestyle. Similarly, ecoliteracy was also found to indirectly influence environmental concern through green lifestyle. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that variations in students' environmental concern character are influenced by variations in their levels of social environmental knowledge, ecoliteracy, and green lifestyle. Therefore, these three factors significantly contribute to shaping students’ character to be more environmentally conscious in their school environment.
