Abstract

The majority of the population of Tanah Miring District, Merauke Regency work as farmers and livestock breeders by utilizing agricultural waste as animal feed. The livestock pattern that is managed traditionally and has not been controlled for health, has resulted in a decrease in the productivity of livestock businesses which results in sudden livestock deaths. The implementation method includes two stages, namely socialization and implementation of activities consisting of two activities, namely physical activities and non-physical activities. The results of the community service, namely socialization, were carried out in two places, namely in the local government and at the Merauke Regency Food Security, Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service, physical activities in the form of cage sanitation and provision of multivitamins and medicines to livestock farmers, while non-physical activities in the form of counseling on the prevention and control of diseases caused by parasites. This activity received a positive response from the community so that it could be carried out well and successfully helped reduce the mosquito population in the cage environment, increase the immunity of livestock from disease attacks and increase the productivity of cattle farming businesses in Merauke Regency.

Abstract

The era of globalization affects the world of education including student behavior, this is reflected in the decline in the attitudes or characters of school students at MTs Al Karimi 1 Gresik, far from the culture of Islamic boarding schools in the previous generation. To overcome these problems, community service activities aim to develop teacher professionalism through the application of integrated science and Islamic learning by being implemented in the form of interactive training and mentoring involving MTs Al Karimi 1 Gresik teachers. The method of community service activities with the ICARE model (Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection and Extend) is structured and systematic with the stages of introducing concepts, connecting with teaching experience, preparing learning plans, reflection and independent application in class. The results of the evaluation of community service activities show that teachers' understanding of the application of integrated science and Islamic learning has a positive impact and is able to prepare contextual learning plans and teachers are confident and consistent in implementing integrated science and Islamic learning. The findings of this community service activity show the importance of sustainable activities and follow-up with the learning community to develop sustainable learning, especially schools in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This community service is based on the results of observations by the Implementation Team, which concluded that most NEKFONIS PAUD students are not accustomed to washing their hands after activities, the school lacks a designated handwashing area, and teachers have not instilled this habit in PAUD students. This program aims to promote PHBS (Clean Living Behavior) in early childhood. The program consists of 35 early childhood children, divided into two groups: Group A, comprising 22 children aged 3-5 years, and Group B, comprising 13 children aged 5-6 years. There are also 35 parents of students and two educators. The methods used to implement this service include observation, interviews, socialization, and direct practice on the importance of clean and healthy living behaviors. The results of this community service include changes in clean and healthy living behaviors in early childhood and among parents, as well as educators realizing the importance of implementing clean and healthy living behaviors at the Nekfonis Paud school in South Amarasi District, Kupang Regency.

Abstract

Villages hold a strategic role as engines of Indonesia’s development from the periphery, while simultaneously serving as centers of community life in the 21st century. However, the phenomenon observed in many villages—particularly in Watutulis Village, Prambon District, Sidoarjo Regency—reveals a range of potentials that can be further optimized, such as local wisdom, social capital, and community solidarity. Therefore, it is essential to provide social awareness training that emphasizes tolerance and respect for diversity within village communities. The implementation of the community service program (PKM) in Watutulis Village has brought significant benefits through the sharing of best practices. This program aims to strengthen social awareness as a foundation for promoting Asta Cita and Pancasila character values through civic training activities in Watutulis, Sidoarjo. The target participants of the program consisted of 30 individuals, including five village officials, 15 youth association members (karang taruna), and 10 local residents. The methods employed to address the partners’ challenges included dissemination, training, technology application, mentoring, and program sustainability, which were structured into two rounds of on-the-job training (OJT) and one implementation stage. The activities encompassed: (1) OJT 1: focus group discussions (FGD), Gymnastics & Outbound, and nationalistic games; (2) OJT 2: youth leadership training; and (3) Implementation: a civic-nationalistic parade. This community service initiative led to an increase in participants’ knowledge and awareness of social vigilance, which directly contributed to a deeper understanding of Asta Cita and the practical implementation of Pancasila character in daily life. Consequently, it equips the villagers of Watutulis, Sidoarjo, with social awareness to better respond to national issues. High levels of social vigilance are believed to serve as a resilient safeguard for the community, reflecting Pancasila values and encouraging the active participation of Watutulis residents at both local and regional levels.

Abstract

Transparent, accountable, and efficient financial management is a key prerequisite for realizing quality public health services through Regional Public Service Agencies (BLUD). However, the reality in Sidenreng Rappang Regency (Sidrap) shows that most BLUD units, such as community health centers and hospitals, still face obstacles such as the absence of documented financial SOPs, low understanding of the preparation of Business and Budget Plans (RBA), and limited use of financial information systems. This community service activity aimed to improve the capacity of BLUD financial managers through training and technical assistance in preparing RBAs and SOPs in accordance with regulations, such as Permendagri No. 79 of 2018 and PP No. 23 of 2005. The implementation methods included identifying partner needs, interactive material presentations, group discussions, and the preparation of draft documents by participants. The results of the activity showed that 87% of participants were able to draft an initial RBA and understand the important elements of financial management SOPs. Participants also demonstrated an increased understanding of good governance principles, such as transparency and accountability. The final evaluation confirmed that the applied and case-based training approach was effective in building the technical competence of the apparatus. As a follow-up, it is recommended that further training be developed to cover accrual-based reporting and internal auditing, as well as the integration of digital financial systems. It is hoped that this activity will encourage a more adaptive and sustainable transformation of BLUD financial management and support the improvement of health service quality in Sidrap Regency.

Abstract

The Sapen English Village in Yogyakarta faces challenges in improving English literacy, particularly among children, due to the limited availability of appropriate teaching materials and the lack of interactive learning methods. To address these issues, this community service program adopts a sustainable training approach, develops the English for Children learning module, and utilizes open-source materials to enhance the quality of learning. The activities include training local tutors, implementing the module in the teaching and learning process, and evaluating learning outcomes through pre-tests and post-tests. The results indicate a significant improvement in the children’s English proficiency, with the average post-test scores increasing by 26% compared to the pre-test scores. These findings demonstrate that the integration of interactive modules and open-source materials provides an effective solution to the limitations of learning resources. Overall, the program has successfully developed a relevant and sustainable model for empowering English literacy, which has the potential to enhance the local community’s competitiveness in the global era.

Abstract

Learning Props are teaching aids designed to accompany project-based learning activities. This community service is motivated by the problems faced by educators when implementing project-based learning models. Therefore an innovation is needed for these problems. SMP PGRI 1 Tempurejo is a target school in Jember district that is still less educated about the use of teaching aids in project-based learning models to support the implementation of an independent learning curriculum. This service activity is carried out in three stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation and reporting stage. The activities carried out in this community service are conducting training on the use of teaching aids media in project-based learning models to support the implementation of an independent learning curriculum for teachers and students at SMP PGRI 1 Tempurejo Jember. PhET media is an interactive simulation media that is given to students to facilitate practicum that cannot be done directly or real but uses a virtual laboratory that is effective in learning. In the training activities, teachers and students responded quite well, this was indicated by the response of teachers and students who stated that they knew about PhET media in the project-based learning model after conducting training. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the participants who took part in the training increased their insight, knowledge and skills about the use of teaching aids in the project-based learning model as a support for the implementation of an independent learning curriculum.

Abstract

The development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology offers new opportunities for managing small-scale livestock farming, including goat farming. The partner of this program, the Umbaran Goat Farmers Group in Bantul, still faces several challenges such as a high mortality rate (12%), inefficient manual feeding, limited digital record-keeping, and marketing that relies solely on local collectors. This community service program aims to improve farm productivity through the application of IoT integrated with a digital farm management system. The implementation method included socialization, workshops, theoretical and practical training, and the deployment of technologies such as a web-based farm management platform, RFID identity tags, and an automatic feeding device. A seven-day trial of the automatic feeder resulted in a total feed distribution of 67 kg, with an average of 9.57 kg/day, and demonstrated a feed saving of approximately 12.99% compared to manual methods. The system also successfully maintained feeding schedule consistency twice a day with 100% accuracy. The results indicate improved efficiency, regularity in feeding patterns, and support for digital transformation in livestock management. Therefore, the implementation of IoT in goat farming not only reduces operational costs but also opens opportunities for developing sustainable business models through the integration of digital systems and online marketing.

Abstract

Schistosomiasis is an infectious parasitic disease caused by the Schistosoma worm, transmitted by the snail Oncomelania hupensis lindoensis in endemic areas such as Dodolo Village, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi. This village has the highest number of intermediate snail foci in the Napu highlands, making it a strategic location for educational interventions. This community service activity aims to improve community knowledge, attitudes, and behavior related to the prevention and treatment of schistosomiasis. Education was carried out using interactive lecture methods, discussions, and pre-test and post-test evaluations of 34 participants from various levels of society. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 3.76 (37.6%) in the pre-test to 8.00 (80.0%) in the post-test, with increased participation and overall understanding. This activity succeeded in building collective awareness and understanding that was evenly distributed throughout the community, and was responded to with a high level of satisfaction (92%). It can be concluded that the participatory education approach is effective in increasing the capacity of the Dodolo Village community in controlling schistosomiasis and can be replicated in other endemic areas as part of a national elimination strategy.

Abstract

SwipeWash is a technology-based startup focused on laundry marketplace services with a pick-up-delivery model and e-commerce integration. During its development, SwipeWash faced various challenges, including business strategy planning, operational management, and risk management. This mentoring program aims to assist partners in developing a comprehensive business strategy and a measurable, technology-based risk management system. The mentoring method includes identifying partner problems and needs, analyzing the situation, planning strategies and developing recommendations, implementing mentoring, and evaluating and monitoring. The mentoring results indicate that partners gained clearer direction in identifying target markets, improving managerial capacity, and developing risk mitigation measures across operational, financial, technological, and reputational aspects. With the right strategy and sound risk management, SwipeWash has the opportunity to strengthen its position in the digital laundry service market, increase consumer trust, and sustainably expand its service reach.
