Abstract

Teaching young children foreign languages, particularly Arabic, optimizes their developmental potential. This community service program aims to implement and analyze effective strategies for introducing Arabic vocabulary that children can memorize and articulate proficiently. The activities are participatory and involve local residents at PAUD An-Nur Serba Jadi IV, Sunggal District, Deli Serdang. The strategies employed include introduction, approaches, routine activities, the use of visual media, memorization through singing and movement, individual and group evaluations, and the provision of rewards. The program results indicate a 53% increase in the recognition of Arabic vocabulary, with a breakdown showing a 12% increase in Cycle 1 and a 65% increase in Cycle 2. The enjoyable learning-through-play method, which aligns with the characteristics of early childhood, has proven effective in enhancing vocabulary recognition and memorization. Recommendations for future community service initiatives include expanding the vocabulary scope, extending the duration of activities, and fostering collaboration with students' parents to create a conducive Arabic-speaking environment for children. Collaboration between academics, education practitioners, and policymakers is also necessary to optimize foreign language education from an early age.

Abstract

This study evaluates the contribution of Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T) students from the Islamic College (STAI) As-Sunnah in enhancing children's enthusiasm for Islamic religious learning and Quranic reading in Ridan Permai Village. Using a qualitative descriptive method with an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, data were collected before and after intervention through observation, interviews, and activity documentation. Results show significant improvements in children's enthusiasm for Islamic studies and Quranic reading abilities following KKN-T student interventions through various learning activities such as Quran memorization and tahsin circles, Arabic language learning, prophetic biography studies, ablution and adhan practice training, and Islamic competitions. Community participation in village religious activities also increased. These findings demonstrate that the KKN-T program can serve as an effective model for enhancing learning enthusiasm and community engagement in religious education at the local level.

Abstract

This community service activity addresses the gap between vocabulary acquisition and writing proficiency in Arabic language learning among students at Madrasah Ar-Rabbaniyyah Darul Ikhlas Lilbanat, Malacca, Malaysia. Employing a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, this study identified key challenges in Arabic language learning and implemented innovative strategies to overcome them. The findings indicate that using interactive methods, visual materials, and graduated learning approaches effectively enhanced student motivation and comprehension. However, resource and time constraints remain significant challenges. This research highlights the importance of a holistic and contextual approach to Arabic language instruction within Islamic educational institutions, considering linguistic, pedagogical, and socio-cultural factors. The implications of this study encompass the need for appropriate learning material development, continuous teacher training, and technology integration in Arabic language education.

Abstract

يتناول هذا البحث دراسة الواقع الاجتماعي في قرية ليواك بمقاطعة ألافان بمنطقة سيميليو أتشيه، يحاول الباحث في هذا البحث كشف الحقائق الواقعة في القرية فيما يتعلق بالقيم والأخلاق لدى أطفال هذه القرية، يتبين من خلال البيانات المحصولة من الملاحظات المبدئية وجود مشلكة عند الأطفال بالنسبة لمعرفتهم للقيم الأخلاقية المتضمنة في الصلاة. سلك الباحث منهج البحث الوصفي الميداني (Field Research) في هذا البحث ، بحيث تمر أعمال الباحث على الخطوات التي رسمها ميلس وهوبرمن بأن تُجمع البيانات (Data Collection) وذلك عن طريق الملاحظات والمقابلات والتوثيق، ويتم تحليلها بالعرض (Data Display) والتقليل (Data Reduction) والتحقيق (Conclusion Drawing/Verifying) حتى يصل الباحث إلى النتيجة والخلاصة. يهدف هذا البحث إلى وصف ما قام به فريق العمل الميداني من طلاب جامعة السنة الإسلامية في غرس القيم الأخلاقية المتضمنة في الصلاة في نفوس الأطفال في قرية ليواك . وتدل هذه الدراسة على أن ما قام به الفريق في برامج عملية التطبيق الميداني الموضوعي (KKNT) الذي تم تنفيذها خلال شهر رمضان من عام 1445 ه في محاولة حل مشكلة ضعف الرغبة ونقصان الدوافع لأداء الصلاة وفهم معناها وغرس القيم والأخلاق المتضمنة فيها قد حقق نجاحا نسبيا.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the public health problems that is still a serious concern in Indonesia, including in Pegirigan Village, Bantarbolang District, and Pemalang Regency. The decline in nutritional quality during the first 1000 days of life (DOL) is one of the leading causes of stunting. This article aims to describe the stunting prevention efforts carried out in Pegirigan Village, focusing on interventions involving families, communities, and the health sector. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation involving health workers, posyandu cadres, and families with toddlers in Pegirigan Village education. The results showed that stunting prevention efforts in this village have included educating children about healthy eating patterns, the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, monitoring child growth, and providing supplementary food for at-risk children. In addition, the active role of posyandu cadres and support from the local government is significant in increasing public awareness about the importance of good nutrition in preventing stunting. However, there are still challenges regarding resource availability and lack of family participation in stunting prevention programs. Therefore, it is necessary to increase coordination between the health, education, and community empowerment sectors to address this problem more effectively.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of a community service program based on Participatory Action Research (PAR) in the form of Tahsin Al-Qur'an using the Talaqqi method in Nagari Durian Tinggi, Kapur IX District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. Through a reflection-action-reflection cycle, this service involves the community as active partners, not objects, in identifying, addressing, and evaluating Qur'anic literacy issues. Initial results showed that 87% of participants experienced difficulties in applying tajwid and makhrajil huruf. Collaborative intervention for 14 days with 5 participants resulted in significant improvements in three main components: makharijul huruf (103.8%), basic tajwid (123.8%), and reading fluency (53.0%). The final reflection cycle demonstrated social transformation in the form of established sustainable learning systems, the emergence of local leaders, and the development of collective commitment to Qur'anic literacy. This study produced a partnership-based empowerment model that can be replicated in similar contexts to improve Qur'anic literacy in rural communities.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation and outcomes of a Community-Based Research (CBR) intervention conducted at Pondok Tahfidz Az-Zikri Lubuak Batingkok, an Islamic educational institution specializing in Quranic memorization. The research addresses the institution's identified limitations in teaching comprehensive Islamic practices beyond Quranic memorization. Female students from STAI Assunnah implemented a structured 20-day program during Ramadan 2024 through a Field Work Course (KKL), employing action research methodology comprising planning, implementation, reflection, and evaluation phases. The intervention utilized lecture and talaqqi methods to deliver a curriculum focused on worship practices, Quranic recitation improvement, hadith memorization, and supplication instruction. Data collection employed interviews, observation, and questionnaires with qualitative descriptive analysis. Results demonstrate a 30% improvement in jurisprudential understanding and 75% enhancement in supplication and hadith memorization among participants. The program successfully integrated theoretical knowledge with practical application through experiential learning activities including communal work, nature contemplation, and monitored congregational prayers. This research contributes to the literature on community-based educational interventions in Islamic institutions by demonstrating the efficacy of structured religious education programs during intensive worship periods. The study recommends longitudinal assessment of sustained impact, curriculum integration beyond Ramadan, and comparative analyses across diverse institutional settings to enhance generalizability and refine pedagogical approaches for Islamic education in non-formal environments

Abstract

The obligation of a student after acquiring knowledge and practice is to impart it to others. Kuliah Kerja Nyata Tematik (KKNT) is one of the activities aimed at disseminating knowledge within the community. One of the places where KKNT is practiced is the village of Muara Uwai, Bangkinang Subdistrict, Kampar District, Riau. This village faces several issues, including the community's limited religious education, their inability to read the Quran properly, and children's lack of proficiency in religious practices. These issues are addressed by utilizing available assets, such as mosques and Quranic houses for teaching. The research employed the Action Research method with the ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) model. The results indicate that KKNT activities have improved religious education, Quranic reading skills, and knowledge of proper religious practices among the children and youth of Muara Uwai. However, the research also identified challenges in enhancing religious education among mothers and their Quranic reading abilities due to time constraints, which make it difficult for them to participate in activities organized by KKNT students, given their predominantly farming professions

Abstract

This study examines the critical role of intensive Islamic educational programs in establishing religious foundations among orphaned children in minority Muslim communities. Using an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) methodological framework, we conducted a detailed investigation at Yaa Bunayya Orphanage, operated by the Mutiara Cahaya Qolbu Foundation in Teluk Dalam, South Nias, Indonesia—a region where Muslims constitute only 2.4% of the population. Through systematic observation, structured interviews with community stakeholders, and documentation analysis during Ramadan-based community service initiatives, we identified significant educational challenges including limited qualified instructors, insufficient learning resources, and geographical isolation from established Islamic educational institutions. The implementation of an accelerated Islamic boarding school program ("pesantren kilat") revealed high enthusiasm for religious education among orphaned children, particularly among recent converts who demonstrated exceptional achievement in Islamic knowledge competitions. Data indicates that structured religious education interventions positively impact children's spiritual development, ethical conduct, and religious practice adherence in religiously diverse environments. This research contributes to understanding effective approaches for Islamic educational development in minority contexts, highlighting the importance of pedagogical innovation, community engagement, and tailored educational strategies that respond to specific socio-cultural environments while addressing resource constraints. These findings offer valuable insights for religious education stakeholders working in pluralistic societies and marginal Muslim communities

Abstract

This research examines the implementation of the Ummī method and structured administrative documentation to enhance pedagogical competence and administrative management in Qur'anic Education Centers (TPA) in Planjan Village. The study involved eight TPA teachers who participated in training focused on two main components: the Ummī method for Qur'anic teaching and structured administrative documentation. The Ummī method emphasizes a reading-listening technique where students listen to correct Qur'anic recitation before imitating it, while the structured administrative documentation included student progress records and daily prayer and remembrance books. Questionnaire results revealed significant improvements in teaching abilities and administrative management, with 7 out of 8 participants reporting positive changes in their pedagogical approach and confidence in classroom management. The implementation of more structured administrative documentation enabled teachers to monitor student progress more effectively and provide constructive feedback. Despite some challenges, including participants needing more time to fully master the new techniques, the training successfully enhanced religious education quality in Planjan Village TPAs, providing a potential model for other Qur'anic Education Centers.
