Abstract

Homework is one way to improve students' learning achievements outside of extracurricular activities. Unfortunately, current phenomena show that homework is thought to have negative impacts such as academic fatigue or academic procrastination. This study aims to describe the quality of homework management for students in public high schools. The research approach uses a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional design. The data was shared in the form of a closed questionnaire and collected with a total sample of 646 students from a total population of 31,397 students. The location of this study was in one of the cities in Indonesia. The results of this study reveal that homework management is one aspect that needs attention in the Islamic Religious Education (IRE)  subject. This aspect observes how well students manage their homework. The five main aspects include environment, time, motivation, emotion, and distraction. The results of the study found that the average level of student homework management is generally in the high category. In particular, the aspect that has the highest positive response in this study is the aspect of environmental management with an average indicator percentage of 92.80%. This aspect is followed by the aspects of emotion management (89.79%), motivation (87.70%), time (79.84%), and distraction (45.53%). This study shows that every aspect of homework management still needs improvement, especially the aspect of distraction. Based on the findings of this study, students tend to be easily distracted when doing their homework.

Abstract

The problem in the field is that there is a lack of integration between the local wisdom of the Tengger community and environmental conservation efforts in the highland, middle and lowland areas of Probolinggo Regency, so a monograph is needed as a medium for developing learning and preserving culture and the environment. This study aimed to determine the needs and concept analysis for developing an environmental monograph based on local wisdom in the Probolinggo. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. The research subject needs to be analyzed by environmental geography lecturers, students, the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Center (BBTNBTS), and the local government of the Probolinggo Regency. The research subjects in the concept analysis were key informants from six villages in the Probolinggo Regency. Qualitative data were obtained through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data analysis was qualitative, using information from qualitative data to analyze the needs and local wisdom in the upland, middleland, and lowland areas of the Probolinggo. The data analysis was then discussed using the monograph challenge and spatial ethnography. The need for environmental monographs based on local wisdom in the Probolinggo Regency was based on the need to enrich learning resources in the Geography Study Program, State University of Malang, the interests of BBTNBTS, and the Probolinggo Regency Government. The concept that emerged from local wisdom was the preservation of land and forests. Sea and water are sourced from local wisdom in gardening, farming, and fishing.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the significant influence of teacher competence, the learning environment, and academic stress on the learning outcomes of students at MTs Bi’rul Ulum, Gemurung, Gedangan, Sidoarjo. A quantitative survey method was employed with a population of 115 students, all of whom were included as research subjects using a total sampling technique. The data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that teacher competence has a significant positive effect on students' learning outcomes, the learning environment showed no significant effect, while academic stress had a significant influence on learning outcomes at MTs Bi’rul Ulum. These results imply that the school should improve teacher competence not only through technical training but also by applying humanistic methods like storytelling to enhance emotional engagement. While the learning environment showed no significant effect, fostering a positive atmosphere and managing academic stress through Islamic values such as ikhtiar and tawakkal remain essential to support motivation and learning outcomes. The findings of this study highlight academic stress as the most dominant factor, which is reconceptualised not just as a negative burden but as a source of positive motivation (eustress). The study provides a new perspective by viewing academic stress as motivation with spiritual value and in the learning process. This study explores how teacher competence, learning environment and academic stress affect student learning outcomes in Islamic junior high schools. This is a new area of research. The study provides new insights for the development of educational strategies in Islamic schools.

Abstract

Persistent misconceptions in foundational science ideas often resist routine instruction, undermine knowledge transfer, and remain hidden when assessments capture answers but not reasoning. Within Indonesia’s integrated Science–Social Studies curriculum (IPAS), such misconceptions can cluster around core topics and shape students’ subsequent learning trajectories. This study maps elementary students’ misconception patterns across five IPAS topics—Force–Motion, Changes of State, Energy, Weather/Water Cycle, and Ecosystems—and translates the findings into design principles for instruction. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, we collected data from 204 Grade 4–6 students in three public schools via a locally contextualized two-tier diagnostic test and clinical interviews supported by concept cartoons. Instrument quality was adequate (mean Aiken’s V = 0.90; internal reliability per topic = 0.71–0.77; inter-rater reliability ? 0.78). Aggregate responses were distributed as 44.2% scientifically sound, 28.1% partial, and 27.7% strong misconceptions, with a grade-level trend toward improvement. The most persistent hotspots appeared in Ecosystems and Force–Motion. Tiered item sensitivity showed a consistent decrease in misconception rates from Q1 (everyday contexts) to Q4 (diagram/model representations), underscoring the role of multiple representations in bridging non-scientific intuitions. Approximately 9–12% of responses were false positives, highlighting the need to evaluate reasoning in addition to answers. Findings inform operational strategies: eliciting initial ideas with mini two-tier items; orchestrating multiple representations and simple empirical evidence within a 5E sequence with explicit refutation; and embedding metaconceptual reflection with formative assessment attuned to misconception patterns. Limitations include geographic scope and non-causal design. Future work should broaden contexts, test instrument invariance, and evaluate a 5E–refutation package quasi-experimentally.

Abstract

The need for graduates who are adaptive, creative, and able to create their own jobs drives the importance of innovation in entrepreneurship education in higher education. However, conventional learning approaches still focus heavily on theoretical aspects and do not develop practical skills that are relevant to the real world. This study develops the CoMEL (Collaborative Multidisciplinary Entrepreneurship Learning) learning model as an innovative framework to overcome the limitations of conventional entrepreneurship education in higher education. Conventional learning models often only emphasize cognitive aspects and ignore affective and psychomotor skills that are important in entrepreneurship. CoMEL integrates collaborative learning, experiential learning, and project-based activities to strengthen students' entrepreneurial competencies. This model was developed using the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) framework and was tested on 80 students participating in the Independent Campus Entrepreneurship Program at Yogyakarta State University. The results showed that the CoMEL model was able to improve team collaboration, creativity, problem solving, prototyping, and reflective learning of students. Students were involved in multidisciplinary teamwork, developing business ideas, building and testing prototypes, and conducting final presentations equipped with structured reflections. This study concludes that CoMEL is an effective model for preparing students to navigate entrepreneurial challenges through active, collaborative, and experiential learning strategies.

Abstract

Differentiated social studies learning is the right solution according to the learning needs of students, but there are still limited digital teaching modules that can meet the diverse needs of students in heterogeneous classrooms. This study aims to analyze the need for the development of hypermedia-based e-modules in Social Sciences (IPS) learning that applies a differentiated approach at the elementary school level. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach in several elementary schools in Indonesia. Data was collected through questionnaires, teacher and student interviews, and classroom observations to identify gaps between current learning conditions and actual needs in the field. The results of the analysis showed that teachers experienced obstacles in delivering social studies materials effectively to students with different abilities and learning styles. In addition, the available learning media has not been able to stimulate students' creative thinking skills optimally. Therefore, it is necessary to develop hypermedia e-modules that are interactive, adaptive, and able to support differentiation strategies and encourage students' creative thinking skills. These findings provide an empirical basis for designing digital learning modules that are contextual and responsive to the needs of the 21st century in primary schools.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia faces serious challenges after the COVID-19 pandemic, marked by a decline in academic achievement, including PISA scores in reading literacy, mathematics, and science. To address these issues, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology launched the Merdeka Curriculum as an effort to increase learning flexibility, foster creativity, and strengthen 21st-century competencies. However, the implementation of this curriculum still faces obstacles, particularly regarding teacher readiness, resource limitations, and variations in school conditions. This study aims to examine the impact of the Merdeka Curriculum implementation on the quality of education at the senior high school level in Indonesia. The method used in this study is a scoping review approach with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, which includes empirical articles published from 2020 to 2024 obtained from the Scopus, DOAJ, and ERIC databases and other specified inclusion criteria. The results of the review of 27 articles show that differentiated learning and diagnostic assessment have been proven to increase learning effectiveness; conversely, authentic and cognitive assessments still face obstacles. In addition, the development of innovative teaching modules and the implementation of project-based learning encourage students' critical, analytical, and entrepreneurial thinking skills. This curriculum also strengthens values-based education, local wisdom, and social interactions that support character building in accordance with the Pancasila Student Profile. In conclusion, the Merdeka Curriculum has significant potential to improve the quality of secondary education in Indonesia, although its success is highly dependent on teacher readiness, policy support, and equitable distribution of resources by the Indonesian government.

Abstract

As a form of experiential learning, culinary tourism festivals provide opportunities for students to engage directly with real-world industry practices. This study aims to evaluate the overall quality of culinary festivals held in Batam City and examine their role as learning media for students in tourism and hospitality programs. The research specifically involves students who have participated in culinary festivals in Batam, allowing them to assess the quality of the festivals from an experiential learning perspective. A quantitative research method was employed, and data were analyzed using Smart-PLS. The results indicate that food quality and taste, as well as program content, significantly influence visitor satisfaction. However, the element of local food does not have a significant impact on satisfaction. Furthermore, satisfaction was found to have no significant effect on word-of-mouth behavior. These findings are expected to contribute to the enhancement of students' learning experiences during culinary tourism programs and support the development of effective experiential learning strategies in vocational education, particularly in the context of tourism and hospitality studies in Batam City.
