Abstract

This study aims to explore the relevance of the views of Imam Al-Ghazali and Ibn Sina in the development of contemporary Islamic education curricula. Al-Ghazali and Ibn Sina are two great figures in the history of Islamic thought who have significantly contributed to education. Al-Ghazali is known for his approach emphasizing the importance of integrating science with spirituality, while Ibn Sina is better known for his contributions to medicine and philosophy. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature approach to examine the relevance of Islamic education for both figures. The results of this study indicate that Al-Ghazali's views are still relevant in the context of current Islamic education and Ibn Sina's views, especially in developing a curriculum that balances general knowledge and spiritual values. The relevance of Al-Ghazali and Ibn Sina's views on the Islamic education curriculum can be used as a reference to produce individuals who are knowledgeable and have high morality and spirituality.

Abstract

Waqf is an essential practice in Islam that allows the waqf of property or assets for public or religious purposes. From a historical perspective, waqf has been used in Muslims' economic and social development since the time of the Prophet. Although the concept of waqf is not explicitly mentioned in the Qur’an, it is reinforced by hadith, which underlines the underlying values of goodness, usefulness, and worship. Indonesia has laws and regulations that regulate the laws and procedures for implementing waqf, and the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) plays an essential role in the administration and management of waqf assets. In the contemporary era, innovation and productive management of waqf assets have helped improve the welfare of society and the progress of Muslims in various countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. Waqf remains essential in developing the economy and supporting social needs within a religious framework.

Abstract

Korean culture has developed so rapidly that it has become widespread and accepted by the world public, resulting in a phenomenon of Korean culture fever at the global level, which can be referred to as the Korean Wave. This study aims to explore the understanding and experiences of female students at IAIN Palangka Raya who are fans of K-Pop girl groups in relation to body image. This qualitative research employs in-depth interviews, observations, and literature reviews with thematic analysis. The findings reveal diverse perceptions of body image and beauty standards, with the majority holding positive views. Factors influencing body image include media exposure, social comparison, social environmental pressures, as well as personality and self-esteem. Strategies used to manage pressures and expectations related to physical appearance include self-acceptance, personal development in other areas, seeking social support, and forming positive fan communities. This research highlights the significant role of social media and interactions within fan communities in shaping body image perceptions. The results provide new insights into the impact of popular culture on body image among adolescent girls and the strategies employed to cope with appearance-related pressures.

Abstract

Families have a central role in building resilience to political, socio-economic, and cultural challenges, including vote-buying practices that are detrimental and hinder the achievement of Sharia objectives. This article aims to explore the practice of money politics impacting the resilience of Muslim families in the political year from a maqashid perspective, especially in the practice of politics in Indonesia. Family resilience here does not only concern the family's problems in facing the challenges of life but is related to the maintenance of religion, soul, mind, property and offspring. This research shows that families with high religiosity awareness tend to be able to act as a filter against vote-buying practices by teaching moral values, including rejecting unethical practices in politics. However, rejecting this practice cannot be fully guaranteed because of other influencing factors, including social, economic and regional political factors. It is necessary to develop political patterns more orientated toward human welfare following the maqashid Sharia values. Strict law enforcement and political awareness in social development are also essential to reduce vote-buying practices and ensure the integrity of the democratic process. The family, as the smallest unit in society, has a significant impact on shaping consumer behavior and building family resilience by instilling religious values, especially in the context of Islam.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the debate on action against online gambling related to the motivation of gamblers' actions and the laws underlying gambling. Some people argue that gambling is a legitimate form of entertainment for them. Some even consider gambling as a livelihood. On the other hand, gambling is an act that is prohibited and forbidden by religion and the state because of the negative impacts it causes. Online gambling can cause disease. The disease consists of two things: liver disease and social disease. There is a formulation of the problem to answer this article: first, how can the background of online gambling encourage the emergence of a desire for entertainment or even a threat? Second, how can the MUI Fatwa contribute to critical thinking about online gambling? The descriptive qualitative method aims to determine the phenomenology that occurs in society. One of them is the phenomenon of online gambling, especially in the Ngawi community. This article focuses on cases of online gambling that have been uploaded in the news on websites and social media, with the intent and purpose of entertainment or threats using the critical approach of the MUI fatwa. The Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI), in addition to being a unifying forum for Muslims, also plays a role in directing Muslims who are in contact with socio-cultural changes. The results of this article reveal that to overcome online gambling cases in Ngawi Regency, several mass organizations and the government have carried out the "Stop Online Gambling" Movement, which is socialized by agencies or mass organizations in Ngawi Regency. It is hoped that it can control the rate of increase in gambling perpetrators. This movement can reduce the impacts that occur due to gambling.

Abstract

This study analyzes the Islamic stance towards non-Muslims regarding tolerance and peace, focusing on the interpretation of Surah al-Mumtahanah verses 7-9. The research is motivated by academic concerns over the frequent misconceptions that view religion as a source of violence, particularly in interfaith relations. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review. This study found that Islam teaches two main principles in interacting with non-Muslims: al-Birr (doing good) and al-Iqsath (being just). These values are embodied in verses that emphasize the importance of being kind and just towards non-Muslims who do not oppose Islam in social, legal, and economic aspects. This research indicates that Islam, in its normative teachings, promotes peace and tolerance, allows for harmonious interactions between different religious communities, and maintains the belief that Islam is the true faith. This study contributes to clarifying Islam's position towards non-Muslims in a broader context.

Abstract

This study focuses on the problem of improving students' social skills in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) through the implementation of contextual-based integrative thematic learning. This study uses a classroom action research (CAR) method with two cycles. The study results indicate contextual-based integrative thematic learning can significantly improve students' social skills. In the first cycle, there was an increase in students' social skills in only one indicator of social skills: the ability to collaborate in solving contextual problems. In the second cycle, students' social skills increased to 3 indicators, with the most visible development of communication skills in real situations and empathy in social interactions. The supporting factors for this success are the active involvement of students in contextual learning activities, the relevance of the material to everyday life, and teacher support in providing guidance and feedback. At the same time, the inhibiting factors include limited learning media and differences in students' levels of understanding. This study concludes contextual-based integrative thematic learning improves students' social skills in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for teachers in implementing contextual and integrative learning to optimize the development of students' social skills.

Abstract

Marriage between stepsiblings, in the perspective of Islamic family law, is an issue that often sparks debate, both legally and socially. In general, scholars agree that marriage between stepsiblings is permissible in Islam because they do not fall under the category of mahram (forbidden relatives) who are prohibited from marrying. This study aims to examine in depth the Islamic legal perspective regarding marriage between stepsiblings and explore the social and cultural implications that may arise in the practice of such marriage. By understanding this, it is hoped that a clearer understanding of the legal and social aspects of marriage between stepsiblings can be achieved and provide valuable insights into the context of Islamic family law and civil law in Indonesia. This qualitative research aims to explain the Islamic legal perspective on marriage between stepsiblings. The study focuses on understanding marriage between stepsiblings within the context of Islamic family law and how this phenomenon is accepted and viewed from society's social and cultural perspectives. The method used is descriptive research, which explains marriage between stepsiblings from the perspective of Islamic family law. The results of this study indicate that marriage between stepsiblings, according to Islamic family law, is permissible under Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and Indonesian civil law. Scholars, including Imam an-Nawawi, agree that stepsiblings are not considered mahram and thus are not prohibited from marrying because their relationship does not stem from direct blood ties or lineage but rather from the marriage of their parents. Therefore, marriage between stepsiblings is valid under Islamic law as long as there is no direct blood relation between them.

Abstract

The Qawaid-translation tradition is still found in several pesantren in West Sumatra. Arabic is made as something dead or inactive. The use of the direct method with daily Arabic practice can be a solution to improving students' mastery of Arabic material. This method emphasizes props and practice as the core of learning activities. This research analyzes the improvement of students' mastery of Arabic material using the direct method. Classroom Action Research is the method of choice in this research with participant type, using observation and test techniques. Data were obtained from Arabic language teachers and 12 students. The results showed increased learning outcomes for students learning Arabic using the direct method. The acquisition of the average value of complete students increased from the pre-cycle of 51.25 to 76.75 in cycle II. This data shows that using the direct method can improve the mastery of Arabic language material in pesantren. This research has implications for the choice of teacher methods in teaching Arabic actively to enhance students' ability and learning outcomes.
