Animal Agricultura is an open access journal. It publishes original research articles, reviews, and communications that offer substantial new insight into any field of study that involves livestock and agriculture . Scientifically excellent papers that consider ruminants in the context of genetic or environmental conservation, rural development, or that have significant implications for animal welfare will be particularly welcome, and an interdisciplinary approach is encouraged. Experimental and genomic studies must explain what hypotheses are being tested, and whether new hypotheses are required. Submissions with a strong husbandry, nutritional, meat or dairy science, or genetic focus must make the wider interest of the work very clear. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical research in as much detail as possible. Full experimental details and/or method of study, must be provided for research articles. Articles submitted that involve subjecting animals to unnecessary pain or suffering will not be accepted, and all articles must be submitted with the necessary ethical approval (please refer to the Ethical Guidelines for more information). Our scope is reseach about animal husbandry, such as nutrition, production, reproduction, livestock maanjemen and business, and agricultural sciences such as agronomy, soil science, pests, agricultural engineering, industrial technology, food technology, fisheries, forestry, and agricultural socio-economics. Manuscripts are open to lecturers and researchers related to animal husbandry and agriculture.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of cattle rumen content silage (IRS) incubation duration on dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) content, as well as in vitro dry matter digestibility (DMD) and organic matter digestibility (OMD). The research was motivated by the potential of IRS as a nutritious alternative feed, which is constrained by its high moisture content (80-90%) and low palatability. The experimental method employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four incubation treatments (4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks) and four replications. The silage was formulated from a mixture of IRS (60%), rice bran (35%), palm sugar (5%), and 40 mL of Local Microorganisms (MOL: rumen fluid + young coconut water) as an activator. Digestibility was measured using the Tilley and Terry (1963) method, and statistical analysis was conducted with ANOVA followed by Duncan’s test. Results showed that 6 weeks of incubation (P2) reduced OM content by 12% (from 86.78% to 75.98%) while significantly increasing DMD (from 53.59% to 58.98%) and OMD (from 48.78% to 52.15%) (P<0.05). Prolonged incubation beyond 6 weeks (P3-P4) did not further improve digestibility due to substrate nutrient limitations. In conclusion, a 6-week incubation period optimizes in vitro IRS silage digestibility without excessive nutrient loss, demonstrating its potential as a sustainable feed processing strategy for livestock farming in arid regions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of providing complete feed silage from various types of forage with the addition of concentrate containing ZnSO4 and Zn-Cu isoleucinate on rumen fermentability (pH, VFA, and NH3) in Peanut Goats. The method used is an experimental approach with a Latin square design (RBSL), consisting of 4 treatments in 4 periods as replications, resulting in 16 experimental units. The treatments applied were silage based on Kume grass, Chromolaena odorata, sorghum, and Odot grass, each with 20% concentrate. The results of the analysis showed that the administration of 20% concentrate had no significant effect on pH (P>0.05), but had a very significant effect on VFA and NH3 concentrations (P<0.01). It can be concluded that feeding silage based on these forages does not affect pH, but increases VFA and NH3 concentrations.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of biofermentation duration of Chromolaena odorata using liquid palm sugar as a carbon source on the content and in vitro digestibility of dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM). A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments (LB-0 = 0 days, LB-7 = 7 days, LB-14 = 14 days, LB-21 = 21 days) and four replications was applied. Each treatment included liquid palm sugar (C/N ratio of 30) and 5% rumen fluid as a starter inoculum. Observed variables included DM content, OM content, in vitro DM digestibility (IVDMD), and in vitro OM digestibility (IVOMD). Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan’s test (P<0.05). Results showed the highest DM content in LB-14 (91.64%), OM content in LB-7 (90.47%), IVDMD in LB-21 (72.55%), and IVOMD in LB-21 (71.13%). Statistical analysis confirmed that biofermentation duration significantly affected all parameters (P<0.05). The study concluded that the optimal durations were 14 days for DM content, 7 days for OM content, and 21 days for in vitro DM and OM digestibility. This research recommends using fermented Chromolaena odorata as ruminant feed, with fermentation duration adjusted to specific nutritional goals.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of different doses of TOP G2 liquid organic fertilizer on the crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), and crude fat (CFat) content of mini elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott) during the second harvest. A completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications (16 experimental units) was applied. The treatments included: M0 (control, no fertilizer), M1 (10 mL TOP G2/L water), M2 (20 mL TOP G2/L water), and M3 (30 mL TOP G2/L water). Proximate analysis (Kjeldahl, Weende, and Soxhlet methods) was used to measure CP, CF, and CFat levels. ANOVA results indicated no significant differences (P>0.05) in CP, CF, or CFat content across treatments. The average values were 12.49% CP, 29.68% CF, and 1.68% CFat. These results suggest that TOP G2 application, up to 30 mL/L, did not significantly alter the nutritional quality of mini elephant grass in the second harvest. Further studies are recommended to explore higher doses or combined fertilization strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of different types of commercial rations and different strains on carcass production. The method used is the 2×3 factorial pattern CRD method. The first factor is 2 strains of chicken (Strain A and Strain B), the second factor is 3 types of commercial rations (P1 ration, P2 ration and P3 ration) so that there are 6 treatment combinations. Each treatment was repeated 4 times, each replicate consisted of 4 chickens. This study used 96 broiler chickens. The variables measured were final weight, percentage of carcass, non-carcass and abdominal fat. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was no interaction (P>0.05) between commercial ration type factors and strain types on all variables. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that there was no interaction between the provision of commercial ration types in two broiler chicken strains to carcass production, which means that the three ration types could be given to two strains without affecting broiler chicken carcass production.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of fermented herbal ingredients with local bioactivators on consumption, digestibility of crude protein and energy in pigs and also to determine the best level of fermented herbal ingredients in improving digestibility. The livestock used were 12 grower phase pigs aged 3-4 months with an initial body weight ranging from 34-43 kg with an average of 37 kg (CV = 4.12%). This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications so that there were 12 experimental units. The treatments given were H0: liquid feed (basal ration + water 1: 2), H1: liquid feed + 10% fermented herbal (100ml / liter of water), H2: liquid feed + 15% fermented herbal (150 ml / liter of water) and H3: liquid feed + 20% fermented herbal (200 ml / liter of water). The variables studied were consumption, digestibility of crude protein and energy. The results showed that the treatment had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on consumption, digestibility of crude protein and energy. It was concluded that giving 10-20% fermented herbal ingredients increased consumption, digestibility of crude protein and energy. Giving 20% (200 ml/liter of water) fermented herbs with local bioactivators in liquid feed resulted in the best digestibility of crude protein and energy, namely (85.13% and 82.27%).
