Abstract

The implementation of English language learning at the elementary school level in Indonesia continues to face significant challenges. One widely proposed solution to address these challenges is the integration of digital technology into English language instruction. The Fun Digital Class program aims to introduce and enhance elementary students’ vocabulary acquisition at SD Inpres Cambaya IV Makassar. Through the use of the Duolingo application, this program provides an engaging and effective method for English vocabulary learning, helping students build a strong foundation in language learning while fostering a positive attitude toward foreign language acquisition, particularly English. This program was conducted over a period of two months and involved 20 students from grades 4 to 6 (aged 10–12 years) who participated in an extracurricular English language program titled Fun Digital Class. The participants were selected using purposive sampling, considering that they shared a similar basic proficiency level in English, which was generally categorized as low. The program was implemented in three phases: the Preparation Phase, the Implementation Phase, and the Evaluation Phase. During its execution, the program successfully stimulated students’ enthusiasm and motivation in learning English vocabulary. As a result, participants demonstrated improved comprehension and mastery of English vocabulary by the end of the program. Furthermore, the majority of students expressed enjoyment and gratitude for the implementation of this program at their school, as it provided them with an engaging and enjoyable English learning experience.

Abstract

Literacy is a crucial factor in enhancing education quality, particularly in the digital era. However, data from PIRLS 2021 reveals that Indonesian students, including those in Makassar City, still demonstrate low literacy levels. This study aims to analyze the implementation and effectiveness of an integrated literacy program within the Teaching Campus policy at UPT SPF SD Inpres Tello Baru. Using a qualitative approach with a pre-test and post-test design, the study involved 62 students from grades 4 and 5, as well as school principals, teachers, library staff, and Teaching Campus participants. The program consisted of three components: reading clinics, literacy fun games, and library revitalization. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students’ literacy. The reading clinic enhanced fluent reading in 68.2% of students receiving intensive support. Participation in literacy activities rose to 72.5% through fun games, while daily library visits increased from 5–8 to 15–20 students, with longer durations. Reading comprehension scores improved by 42%, with 85% of students achieving greater fluency and 75% showing better retelling skills. Despite challenges such as limited time and varying student abilities, the program’s success was driven by collaboration among Teaching Campus participants, school staff, and students. The results confirm that a holistic literacy approach—combining personalized guidance, interactive learning, and infrastructure enhancement—can effectively strengthen literacy culture in primary schools.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes to various creative industries, including architecture. AI can enhance efficiency and creativity in the design process by assisting in data analysis, concept creation, and developing more innovative design variations. Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012, has great potential to explore this technology due to their adaptive digital skills. However, challenges such as copyright issues and dependence on AI remain concerns in its implementation. This community service activity aims to introduce and educate students and young professionals about the utilization of AI in architecture. The methods used include an introductory session, socialization and workshops, as well as reflection and evaluation. The results of this activity indicate that AI can be an effective tool in architectural design but still requires the role of architects to ensure quality, creativity, and sustainability in design. With the right approach, AI can serve as a catalyst for innovation in the architectural field.

Abstract

Enhancing academic literacy remains a major challenge in promoting scientific publication productivity in Indonesia, particularly in internationally reputable journals such as Scopus. This article describes the implementation and evaluation of a national webinar entitled “Write It Right: Strategies for Writing Scopus-Indexed Scientific Articles,” organized by the English Education Study Program of Universitas Sulawesi Barat. The webinar aimed to strengthen the academic capacity of lecturers, students, and education practitioners in writing scientific articles that meet international standards. The event was conducted online via the Zoom Meeting platform on January 30, 2025, featuring experienced speakers in the field of international publication. A total of 407 participants registered, with 334 participants attending until the end of the session. The event evaluation was carried out through an online form, covering participants' satisfaction with the material, the speaker’s delivery, and the relevance of the content to their academic needs. The evaluation results indicated a high level of satisfaction, with most participants reporting that they gained practical insights and new motivation for writing scientific articles. Participant feedback also revealed that the webinar enhanced their understanding of scientific writing strategies and opened opportunities for future research collaboration. These findings underscore the importance of organizing online academic training as an effective strategy to strengthen the culture of scientific literacy within higher education institutions.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest seaweed-producing countries in the world; however, the limited availability of Porphyra species hinders local nori production. The innovation of developing nori based on moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) presents a promising alternative, considering moringa's high nutritional content, including protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that contribute to immune system enhancement. This activity represents a novel innovation in the development of functional food products by utilizing fresh moringa leaves as the main ingredient. The process begins with drying the moringa leaves using a low-temperature dehydrator to preserve their nutritional value. Next, the dried leaves are ground into a fine powder using a high-speed blender. This powder is then mixed with tapioca flour, egg white, and a pinch of salt using a horizontal dough mixer until a homogeneous mixture is formed. The mixture is flattened using a manual stainless steel nori sheet press and then dried again in a low-temperature air-circulating oven to produce thin, dry moringa nori sheets. Through this process, a product that has never been developed before—moringa-based nori—is created, characterized by a crispy texture, natural savory taste, and high nutritional value. This activity not only introduces a new method of moringa leaf processing but also opens opportunities for innovation using simple tools that can be replicated by local communities.

Abstract

Women's Economic Empowerment is crucial in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals. One aspect of women's economic empowerment that has been widely studied is women's involvement in entrepreneurial activities. Women have great potential to develop businesses. However, they often face barriers such as a lack of management education, access to capital, building business networks, and the persistence of community understanding that causes gender discrimination that women are not obliged to earn a living. This assumption can be an obstacle to the growth of the nation's economy. One of the efforts to overcome this is to educate the community on the importance of women's economic empowerment through Entrepreneurship Education. The purpose of entrepreneurship education for women is to encourage the national economy and improve family welfare. Economically empowered women can play a positive role in meeting personal needs, family and social activities.

Abstract

The low quality of student innovation in preparing Student Creativity Program (PKM) proposals remains a challenge in higher education, caused by limited research experience, weak team collaboration, and low utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. This study aims to describe the implementation of an AI-based Co-Creation Learning model in improving students' abilities to prepare PKM proposals. This research used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, which was conducted in two cycles: the first cycle applied the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, and the second cycle applied the AI-based Co-Creation Learning model. The results showed an increase in the students’ average scores from 86.1 in the first cycle to 88.4 in the second cycle, with a decrease in the standard deviation from 2.32 to 1.37. Inferential analysis using a paired samples t-test revealed a t-value of -9.25 with p < 0.001 and an effect size (Cohen’s d) of -1.46, indicating a statistically significant improvement in learning outcomes. This model effectively supports collaboration, creativity, and students' skills in developing more relevant PKM proposals. Thus, the implementation of the AI-based Co-Creation Learning model is effective in enhancing students’ innovation capacity and supports the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka policy in strengthening excellent human resources in the digital era.
