Abstract

Fisherwomen in Galesong, Takalar Regency, play a significant dual role in the socio-economic life of coastal communities. Not only do they help their husbands in their fishing activities, they also return to their domestic roles as housewives. This condition causes participants to face double pressure, which has a serious impact on their health, productive capacity, and socio-economic well-being. Through a participatory approach, this activity seeks to explore the problems experienced by fisherwomen and identify potentials that can be developed in their empowerment efforts. The methods used include participatory observation, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGD) with fisherwomen. Despite having high enthusiasm and fighting spirit to support family welfare, they are still hampered by limited access to information, training, and formal role legitimacy. From this activity, recommendations emerged to present community-based empowerment programs that respond directly to the realities faced by women.

Abstract

Mattiro Uleng Village, a coastal fishing community in Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency, holds abundant marine resources, yet its utilization remains limited to selling raw fish without further processing. This dependence on unprocessed fish sales has led to fluctuating family incomes, particularly for fishermen’s wives, who rely on their husbands’ catch. This community service program was designed to empower fishermen’s wives in Mattiro Uleng by enhancing their skills in producing value-added fish-based products, specifically fish meatballs, as a means of economic diversification and fostering independent entrepreneurship. The program implementation involved a combination of theoretical knowledge sessions, practical workshops on fish meatball processing, and training in both online and offline marketing strategies. A participatory approach was adopted to actively engage participants throughout the process. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants’ skills, with fish meatball-making competency increasing from 30% to 90%, and marketing knowledge rising from 10% to 75%. This program successfully equipped the participants with practical knowledge, boosted their confidence, and sparked motivation for initiating fish-based culinary enterprises.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have a strategic role in the national economy, but often face challenges in managerial aspects, including managing consumables inventory. This study aims to analyze the consumables inventory control system at MSME Mapparennu Laundry and Dry Clean Makassar, identify the obstacles faced, and formulate effective improvement strategies. The study used a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach which is collaborative and participatory, with data collection methods in the form of interviews, observations, documentation, and group discussions. The results of the study indicate that the control system implemented is still manual, not well documented, and not based on historical data, resulting in cost inefficiency, operational disruptions, and low accountability. Some of the main obstacles found include the lack of a recording system, the absence of SOPs, and low awareness and capacity of human resources. To overcome this, it is recommended to implement a simple digital recording system, prepare SOPs, data-based needs planning, periodic supervision, employee training, and optimize storage space. This strategy is expected to improve operational efficiency and the effectiveness of MSME internal control, as well as become a learning model for other similar businesses.

Abstract

The low quality of student innovation in preparing Student Creativity Program (PKM) proposals remains a challenge in higher education, caused by limited research experience, weak team collaboration, and low utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. This study aims to describe the implementation of an AI-based Co-Creation Learning model in improving students' abilities to prepare PKM proposals. This research used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, which was conducted in two cycles: the first cycle applied the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, and the second cycle applied the AI-based Co-Creation Learning model. The results showed an increase in the students’ average scores from 86.1 in the first cycle to 88.4 in the second cycle, with a decrease in the standard deviation from 2.32 to 1.37. Inferential analysis using a paired samples t-test revealed a t-value of -9.25 with p < 0.001 and an effect size (Cohen’s d) of -1.46, indicating a statistically significant improvement in learning outcomes. This model effectively supports collaboration, creativity, and students' skills in developing more relevant PKM proposals. Thus, the implementation of the AI-based Co-Creation Learning model is effective in enhancing students’ innovation capacity and supports the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka policy in strengthening excellent human resources in the digital era.

Abstract

The Community Service Program aims to improve ethical competency among student mentors through a structured training program that focuses on five key areas: confidentiality, ethical communication, communication style, professional boundaries, and respecting mentee diversity. A total of 31 mentors participated in pre- and post-test assessments, allowing for a measurable analysis of knowledge development. The training was delivered online using Zoom and included interactive discussions, scenario analysis, and self-reflection sessions. Results showed significant improvements in all five indicators, particularly in understanding ethical communication (from 32.3% to 77.4% selecting the highest score), and appropriate communication style (from 41.9% to 80.6%). Even dimensions with high baseline scores, such as confidentiality (74.2%), experienced positive growth. The findings confirm that the training successfully improved participants’ ethical sensitivity, practical communication skills, and preparedness for real-world mentoring situations. This initiative contributed to the development of a responsible mentoring culture that aligns with the values of empathy, professionalism, and inclusion. Future programs should consider expanding to include peer mentors from other faculties and provide ongoing support mechanisms to strengthen ethical mentoring practices.

Abstract

The geodetic GPS training program is a form of community service aimed at enhancing the technical competencies of vocational high school students in the fields of surveying and mapping. This initiative was driven by the students’ limited ability to operate modern geospatial measuring instruments, which are essential in today’s industrial sector. The partner institution in this program was SMK Negeri 1 Takalar, targeting Grade XI and XII students from the DPIB (Building Drawing and Information Design) department. The program was conducted using an experiential learning approach, consisting of brief theoretical sessions, field practices, and a mini project involving the creation of a GPS-based map. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ understanding of basic GNSS concepts and their practical skills in collecting and processing coordinate data. Post-test scores increased by 63% compared to the pre-test, and all student groups successfully completed simple mapping projects independently. This training also enhanced students’ self-confidence and positively impacted their job readiness. These findings indicate that hands-on, practice-based training is highly effective in bridging the competency gap between vocational education and industry needs, and it should be continued through more advanced and structured training programs.

Abstract

Maternal and child health issues remain a significant challenge in rural areas, primarily due to the lack of knowledge about Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of housewives in Tetaf Village, South Central Timor Regency, regarding the importance of implementing PHBS in daily life. The method used was interactive health education combining participatory lectures and group discussions, evaluated through pre-test and post-test instruments. The activity was held on June 5, 2025, at the Posyandu of the Tetaf Village Office and involved 20 housewives as participants. The materials were delivered using contextual and easy-to-understand visual aids adapted to local conditions. The results showed a significant improvement in participants' knowledge. The average pre-test score was 59, which increased to 95 on the post-test. In addition to this cognitive gain, participants also demonstrated high enthusiasm, as seen in their active involvement in the discussion sessions and their expressed commitment to adopting PHBS practices at home. The interactive approach enabled effective two-way communication between facilitators and participants, creating a more meaningful learning experience. These findings indicate that interactive and context-sensitive community-based health education is highly effective in enhancing health literacy, particularly among housewives. It is expected that this initiative can serve as a sustainable educational model for similar rural areas to support broader and more equitable health promotion efforts across Indonesia.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve financial literacy and technical skills of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Parit Tokaya Village, South Pontianak through accounting digitalization training. Based on initial observations, most MSMEs in this area have not used a digital financial recording system and still rely on unsystematic manual methods. The training was conducted with a participatory approach and direct practice using a simple accounting application that can be accessed via the participant's smartphone device. Evaluation of the training results was carried out through pre-test and post-test instruments, which showed a significant increase in participants' understanding and skills in managing business finances. Practice-based training methods have proven effective in increasing participant engagement and understanding. In addition, the impact of the training can be seen from changes in participant behavior who have started recording daily transactions and preparing cash flow reports periodically. Challenges in implementation remain, limited devices, internet connections, and resistance to change from older participants. To maintain the sustainability of the training results, a learning community was formed and digital ambassadors were appointed from the most active participants. This program is expected to be a replication model for other regions in an effort to strengthen the digital transformation of MSMEs. This activity not only provides individual capacity building, but also contributes to the development of a more adaptive and technology-based local economic ecosystem. Cross-sector collaboration between universities, government, and local communities is key to supporting the sustainability of this kind of community service program.
