Abstract

Various previous studies have responded to the study of the challenges of moral degradation in the digital era. However, the focus of the study has not yet been found in the form of the integrality of Qur'anic verse-based Learning with a locus in Madrasah Tsanawiyah. It is believed that this integrality fosters students' religious attitudes. This study aims to develop a product of integrated science teaching materials of the Qur'anic verses to improve students' religious attitudes in madrasah. This type of research is research and development (R&D), adapting the Borg & Gall model with the ADDIE stages, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, because it is considered relevant to describe the chronology of Learning product development from the beginning. The results of this study found that science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an verses are valid and very feasible to use in student science Learning at MTsN Konawe Regency with an average value of 91.98% of the validity test results. Then, science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an values have a practicality value to be applied at MTsN Konawe Regency, marked by the average score of 1.64 small groups and 1.79 large groups. Science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an values are effectively used in science Learning after being developed in small and large groups with a probability value (r) Sig. = 0.000 <a = 0.05, meaning there is a significant difference in students' spiritual attitudes before and after treatment using science teaching materials integrated with the Qur'an. Thus, it is concluded that the product of science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an verses is appropriate for improving students' religious attitudes in madrasah.

Abstract

The yellow book as a compulsory curriculum in Salafiyyah Islamic boarding schools includes intolerant teachings, especially in the chapters of jihad and hudud. However, the students at this pesantren showed extraordinary tolerance and avoided cases of religious violence. This sketch shows that the students did not just learn and explicitly follow the teachings of centuries-old religious texts. This article reveals the guidance of kyai (Islamic religious leaders) in shaping the attitude of tolerance of students through the interpretation of the yellow book. With a qualitative approach in the form of a case study, this study interviews the kyai who act as supervisors and teachers at the Sabilurrosyad Islamic boarding school in Malang. The findings of the study revealed that the kyai consistently guided their students in understanding classical texts based on their socio-cultural background, by emphasizing obedience to the government, respecting local wisdom, considering social conditions, and maintaining tolerance of other religions. In conclusion, kyai plays an important role as an interpreter of the yellow book so that students have a moderate understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategies employed by teachers at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 2, Banjarmasin to manage disruptive behavior in the classroom during the learning process. The research employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing descriptive analysis based on data gathered from semi-structured interviews with teachers and a review of related literature. This approach allows for a comprehensive understanding of the practical techniques used by educators in real-time classroom settings and assesses their effectiveness in creating a conducive learning environment. The findings reveal that teachers at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 2 effectively utilize a combination of behaviorist and constructivist strategies to manage and mitigate disruptive behaviors. Key strategies include the application of positive reinforcement to encourage desirable behaviors and the establishment of clear, consistent rules to provide structure. Additionally, the use of engaging and interactive teaching methods has been shown to significantly reduce instances of disruptive behavior by maintaining high levels of student involvement and interest. Despite these positive outcomes, challenges such as the diverse nature of the student body and varying degrees of parental support pose obstacles to the uniform application of these strategies. The research indicates that while the employed strategies are generally effective, they require continuous adaptation and support to address these challenges adequately.

Abstract

Kitab Kuning (Turats) is an Islamic intellectual tradition that must be preserved as an added value in Pesantren (Islamic Boarding Schools). Additionally, universities based on Islamic boarding schools have created an intriguing environment that must maintain the tradition of turats learning in academic settings while adhering to the general education trend. This research aimed to investigate 1) the implementation of turats learning at Kiai Abdullah Faqih University Gresik and 2) how the turats learning model contributes to developing student expertise at Kiai Abdullah Faqih University Gresik. The research employed a qualitative case study approach, employing data collection techniques such as documentation, archival recordings, interviews, and observations. These observations were analyzed using Yin theory, pattern matching, explanation, time series analysis, and repeated observations. The research results indicate that learning involves three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. In the interim, the turats learning model at Kiai Abdullah Faqih University Gresik is a contextual literacy learning (CLL) model that employs five learning syntaxes: determining material, text study, question and answer, task (contextual), and closing. This model is accompanied by learning approaches, methods, and techniques. Although this research has been restricted to a single research locus, it has yielded findings regarding the theoretical implications of the turats learning model in the development of student expertise at Islamic boarding school-based universities (Kiai Abdullah Faqih Gresik University) through the use of the contextual literacy learning (CLL) model.

Abstract

The discussions of English textbooks are dominantly only concerned with the product, value and representation of textbooks without giving intention to the production process. This present study discusses the production process of English textbooks produced by Indonesia Islamic Institution (Pesantren MS) and the content of English textbooks. This research adopts a qualitative method; primary data were gathered through in-depth interviews with some interviewees, the Pesantren leader, and the authors of the books to get information about the production process and the materials selected for the textbook. Furthermore, the data were also gathered from the content of six English textbooks, which were scrutinized based on Pesantren elements. The research findings demonstrate that the production of the textbooks was based on two reasons, namely Pesantren's interest and the teacher's interest in providing English materials and curriculum for English language teaching in Pesantren. However, the content of the textbook was still lacking in representing Pesantren content; only four items were found, namely pictures of Kyai (Pesantren leader), mosques, the teaching of classical books and student activities. Moreover, in enhancing intercultural communication among students, the study suggested creatively negotiating the locality interest in the English learning process through content integration in teaching materials and textbooks, teaching methodology, and adjustment of the curriculum in Pesantren. Furthermore, analyzing the English textbook produced by Pesantren MS aims to propel Pesantren towards better negotiating, integrating, and contributing of English textbook in the development of English teaching and learning and its curriculum among Pesantren.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the responses of Islamic Universities in Indonesia and Thailand to the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in Islamic education learning. This comparative qualitative research collected data from in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and analysis of relevant documents at UIN Walisongo Semarang (Indonesia) and Darul Maarif Islamic College Patani (Thailand). The collected data were analyzed thematically using triangulation, member checking, and audit trail validation models. The findings of this study show similarities and differences; both institutions have not specifically incorporated AI into the formal curriculum as a course, only integrating it implicitly in the hidden curriculum such as research, workshops, and seminars. Indonesian Islamic universities view AI as an important tool for modernizing Islamic education, especially in distance learning and the digitalization of Qur'anic teaching. In contrast, although AI is not explicitly banned in Thailand, there are concerns about its impact on the role of traditional teachers and Islamic cultural values. Regarding ethics, Indonesian students are less likely to consider the potential bias of AI towards Islamic religious information. In contrast, Thai students are more wary of the impact of technology on their religious values. Mastery of AI technology also showed significant differences, with Indonesian students being more advanced.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the experiences of married students in maintaining a balance between academic and family life in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam. This study used a comparative qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model. This study's findings show significant differences and similarities in the motives for continuing postgraduate studies between married students in Brunei and Indonesia. Students in Brunei tend to be driven by internal motives such as self-development and personal satisfaction, with government support and scholarship programs playing an important role in their motivation. In contrast, students in Indonesia focus more on career achievement and professional incentives such as salary increases and scholarships, as well as personal satisfaction from academic achievement. Significant differences also emerged in academic achievement, domestic relationships, and career progression. The financial support provided by the Brunei government allows students to focus more on their studies and maintain a balanced home life. In contrast, students in Indonesia often have to bear the financial burden alone, which results in stress and delays in graduation. Financial pressures in Indonesia also affect the stability of domestic relationships and long-term career planning, with students focusing more on short-term employment than future planning. These findings support the Work-Family Balance theory, providing recommendations that institutional religion and cultural norms should develop adaptive policies so that students can face dual demands in a balanced manner.

Abstract

This research analyzes the Multicultural Islamic Religious Education Learning (MIREL) at SMKN 1 Poso in building religious harmony as a conflict resolution. Conflict socio-religious become a critical problem regarding diversity in schools and society. Meanwhile, Islamic religious education provided in schools does not prioritize a multicultural perspective, which includes the practices of different religions and other cultures. This study uses qualitative field research with a case study approach and data analysis, according to Miles and Huberman. Results show that this school carries out the MIREL formally-textual and informally-textual. Learning formally-textual is held through three stages. At the beginning stage, teachers contextualize the values of example and self-control through exemplary stories from the prophets. In the main stage, the teachers integrate the values of tolerance, harmony, democracy, unity, concern, and justice by presenting material that includes faith, morals, jurisprudence, and the history of Islamic culture. Teachers instill multicultural values of cooperation and responsibility in the closing stage by assigning group tasks. The school holds informally textual learning through the Religious Saturday program collaboration in cross-cultural, socio-religious, and humanitarian activities. This research has implications for strengthening the MIREL in schools to build sustainable religious harmony among students and society in the post-conflict area.
