Abstract

The paper looks at the increasing nature of cybercrime activities, particularly yahoo-yahoo in Nigeria. The paper adopted descriptive and evaluative methods of research to gather and analyze relevant data. The paper identifies some cases of this crime in society to validate its position. The findings show that the influence of peer groups, parental and societal support, unemployment, and many others account for the growing nature of crime in society. While the paper posits that the criminal gain from Yahoo activities is temporal, it draws attention to the concept of life after death and accountability as enumerated in Qur’an chapter 102 as a deterrence to the people’s inordinate quest for wealth at all costs. The paper recommends a more robust orientation of people by both religious leaders and appropriate government agencies on the need to have the human mind and no devilish nature. The government and the well-to-do people in society are also encouraged to join hands to address the problem of unemployment.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the outcomes of analyzing the educational systems in Indonesia, specifically focusing on Islamic and general education. The literature study approach incorporates a total of 13 sources from books and 33 sources from scientific journals. These sources are utilized to gather data, which is subsequently evaluated in accordance with up-to-date information. The research methodology employed is qualitative. The research findings indicate that the establishment of dualism in Islamic education in Indonesia is a result of the coexistence of Islamic education and general education, which is impacted by the Indonesian political system. The emergence of dualism in Islamic education in Indonesia can be attributed to the presence of a parallel system for implementing educational concepts, particularly in the realms of religious education and general education. The implementation of general education and Islamic education is consistently conducted in accordance with their respective areas of emphasis, regardless of their location. The results of this study suggest that educational policymakers might assess the integration of dualism in Islamic and general education in order to effectively utilize both systems by connecting their knowledge.

Abstract

This brief article aims to analyze Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas' thoughts on tamaddun using the philosophy of history as a theoretical framework. This research elucidates that tamaddun is a state of human social life that has reached a high level of morality (ādab) and culture for society. The critical elements of tamaddun are al-dīn, ādab, and al-'ilm, which accumulate in 'ilm, amal, and iḥsan. Al-Attas defines Islamic civilization as a civilization that arises amid the multifariousness of cultures of Muslim communities of the world as a result of the permeation of the fundamental elements of the religion of Islam, which those communities have begun to arise from inside themselves, and a manifestation of integration in multifariousness as well as of multifariousness in unity. Al-Attas wants to show that Islam has arranged the Malay-Indonesian Archipelago for the coming modern world as proof that the world has been Islamized.

Abstract

Islamic Education (IE) in Higher Education is a compulsory course in Indonesia. However, it still dominantly assesses the cognitive aspect, while the learning competency of Islamic Education aims to form the religious character and social attitudes of students. Therefore, this study aims to develop indicators of student social care integrated with student organization activities. The indicator of social concern that has been validated and meets the content validity score will be used as a measuring tool for the attitude and skill components of students in Islamic Education learning. The process of developing indicators of social care integrated into student organization activities requires the ADDIE model development research method (Analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, but in this study, there are only three stages: the first needs analysis, the second planning, and third development. The research subjects were students and lecturers of Islamic Education at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. Data collection tools are questionnaires, interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis used the Aikens Index and inter-rater reliability to see the suitability of the content of the indicator with the theory used and to see the agreement of experts in assessing the developed social care indicators. The results of the research based on the needs analysis by surveying 25 students from student organization members in three universities through quota, purposive sampling, and interviews found that 80% of students were involved in BEM social activities, and 72% of students agreed to integrate social activities of student organizations in PAI learning. The results of the Aiken Index content validity test of six skill indicators and four social care attitude indicators were a minimum score of 0.83 and a highest score of 0.91. The reliability test result is 0.64. These results indicate that three experts have agreed upon the content of social care indicators, and then it is feasible to construct a validity test to find out the indicators developed that can measure students' social attitudes and skills using the theory used.

Abstract

Islamic bankers have a central position and an essential role in the implementation of Sharia principles in Islamic banking practices because Islamic bankers are parties directly related to the operational implementation of Sharia contracts. This research attempted to reconceptualize the figure of the Islamic banker with the formulation of the ideal Islamic banker within the framework of Sharia norms. This research was qualitative research that applied a literature study. Referring to the Hadith of the Prophet, Atsar Umar bin Khattab and Qaul Abu Laits, which serve as the foundation for the formulation of the ideal Islamic banker in the ideas of banking jurisprudence related to Islamic Human Resources Management, Islamic bank management must consider the relevance of education in selecting employees as an application of the Islamic recruitment model. Furthermore, the ideal Islamic banker will be realized through Islamic training, which forms ways of thinking, competence, character, and work motivation within the Sharia framework. The results indicated that Islamic bankers had adequate knowledge of Sharia and enthusiasm and commitment, which was vital in implementing all Sharia provisions in banking transactions to create a Sharia compliance ecosystem in Islamic banking.

Abstract

Uṣūl fiqh played an important role in the discussion of fiqh, but it is no longer applied for legal deduction due to the prevalent idea of taqlīd (imitation). The taqlīd hinders Islamic the scholars from referring to the Quran and sunnah directly. Abdul Hamid Hakim's efforts to revitalize ijtihād (independent reasoning) and ittibāʾ (evidence based accaptance) have brought new nuances to uṣūl fiqh. This paper aims to describe the thoughts of ijtihād and ittibāʾ in the works of Hakim and to reveal the influence of Islamic renewal. This paper is based on literature research using qualitative methods with a historical approach. This research shows that the uṣūl fiqh works of Hakim are written with an applicative approach. He arranges his works as teaching materials for beginners to advanced students. The idea of revitalizing ijtihād and encouraging ittibāʾ in Hakim’s works resonated Islamic renewal idea in the early 20th century, marked by the creed of returning to the Quran and sunnah and the opening the ijtihād door. Hakim’s works have contributed to the development of Islamic legal thought in Indonesia, which influenced subsequent efforts to reform Islamic law in the country.
