Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the impact of implementing halal principles and Islamic morality on perceptions of socio-cultural responsibility in halal tourism destinations. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a phenomenological approach, incorporating surveys and in-depth interviews with Muslim tourists. The findings reveal that halal principles—such as the provision of halal-certified food, adequate prayer facilities, and environments free from prohibited activities—significantly enhance socio-cultural responsibility. Furthermore, Islamic morality, which emphasizes modesty, honesty, justice, and social care, promotes positive interactions and respect among visitors. This research underscores the importance of integrating Islamic values into tourism management to cultivate socially and culturally responsible destinations. Contributing to the literature on halal tourism and socio-cultural responsibility, the study offers practical insights for destination managers seeking to improve service quality and develop effective marketing strategies. Recommendations include enhancing halal facilities, promoting local economic empowerment, and educating tourists about Islamic values to boost satisfaction and loyalty among Muslim travelers.

Abstract

Digital transformation opens opportunities for Sharia pawnshops to develop innovative application-based services following Sharia principles. This study analyzes the perception and experience of users of the Sharia pawnshop application on the Google Play Store using a netnography approach. It collects and analyzes 395 user reviews between June and December 2024, which consist of 219 positive reviews and 176 negative reviews. The analysis shows that 59.82% of users gave positive reviews regarding satisfaction with using the application, especially regarding transaction security and ease of use. As many as 17.35% of positive reviews emphasized the benefits of the application in transforming Islamic financial services. The main challenges identified included update system problems (35.23%), technical and server problems (30.11%), and registration complexity (5.68%). There was also a discrepancy between numerical ratings and review content. Important concerns include service problems (9.66%) and limited choice of Islamic banks (5.11%). This research provides important insights for the development of digital Islamic finance applications in the future, especially in the aspects of improving technological infrastructure, simplifying processes, and improving the quality of customer service. The results of this study contribute to a better understanding of user needs in the context of the digitization of Islamic financial services in Indonesia.

Abstract

Intellectual Property (IP) protection in Indonesia remains primarily oriented toward individual and capitalist interests, thereby failing to reflect the values of distributive justice fully. This research aims to analyze Geographical Indications (GIs) as an instrument of economic justice from the perspective of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah. The study employs a normative legal research method, utilizing both conceptual and legislative approaches. Data were gathered through a literature review of primary, secondary, and tertiary legal sources, which were then analyzed qualitatively to examine the relationship between the principles of positive law and the values of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah. The findings indicate that the principles of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, such as hifz al-mal (protection of property), hifz al-nafs (protection of life), and hifz al-'aql (protection of intellect), provide a strong philosophical foundation for the reconstruction of a just and inclusive IP system. GIs' protection not only provides legal recognition of product origins but also serves as an instrument for the economic empowerment of local communities and the equitable distribution of financial benefits. Incorporating Sharia values into IP policies can broaden the moral, social, and ecological dimensions of a sustainable creative economy. This research recommends reformulating national IP policies by incorporating the principles of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, strengthening the role of producer communities in GIs governance, and fostering quadruple-helix collaboration among government, academia, industry, and communities. In this way, GIs can serve as an instrument of economic justice and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.

Abstract

This study advances extant literature through the application of a qualitative netnography methodology, utilising Google Reviews as a data source to investigate the manner in which dimensions of tourist attachment to halal destinations influence revisit intention. A corpus of 766 reviews was collected from Indonesia's ten foremost halal tourism destinations, from which 165 reviews meeting relevance criteria were subjected to thematic coding and analysis. The findings demonstrate that tourist attachment to halal destinations is constituted through several salient dimensions, namely tranquility and serenity, sentiments of comfort and belonging, cognitive and educational stimulation, and appreciation of sharia-compliant facility provision. These dimensions of attachment are found to precipitate revisit intention via expressions of longing, affirmative recommendation behaviour, and destination admiration. From a managerial perspective, the results underscore the necessity of augmenting worship facilities and halal infrastructure, cultivating an ambience conducive to visitor tranquillity and comfort, and formulating destination marketing strategies that foreground the emotional and spiritual dimensions of the tourism experience.

Abstract

Research on halal fashion has largely focused on consumer purchase decisions, with limited attention to how halal fashion brands interact with consumers and manage their brand image on social media platforms such as Instagram. This study addresses this gap by examining brand interaction patterns and image management strategies among leading halal fashion brands in Indonesia. Using a netnographic approach, it analyzed 1,321 Instagram posts from six halal fashion brands over six months (July–December 2022), applying content and image‑management codes to classify post types (photos and videos) and representation strategies (personalized, contextual, and celebrity use). The findings show a slightly higher proportion of photo posts (51%, 674 posts) than video posts (49%, 647 posts), with hijab fashion brands more active than Muslim and sports fashion brands in producing content. Across all brands, image management relied predominantly on personal context and non‑celebrity representation, while professional context and celebrity‑based posts were used less frequently. These results suggest that halal fashion brands strategically emphasize relatable, personalized, and non‑celebrity content to build brand image and engagement on Instagram, offering practical guidance for brand managers in designing effective social media strategies and contributing novel empirical evidence on brand interaction and image management in the halal fashion sector.
