Abstract

Nutrasetikal merupakan pangan atau bagian dari pangan yang memberikan manfaat medis atau kesehatan, meliputi pencegahan dan terapi suatu penyakit. Jahe (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan perenial yang banyak dijumpai di Indonesia dan dapat diolah menjadi nutrasetikal yang bermanfaat bagi kesehatan seperti wedang ronde. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini ibu-ibu PKK Desa Gegerung, Kecamatan Lingsar, Lombok Barat, Nusa Tenggara Barat diberikan edukasi dan pelatihan pembuatan nutrasetikal wedang ronde. Tahapan pada kegiatan ini meliputi persiapan kegiatan, pelaksanaan sosialisasi, pelatihan pembuatan nutrasetikal dengan metode partisipatif dan evaluasi kegiatan melalui pemberian umpan balik oleh peserta. Melalui kegiatan ini, pengetahuan terhadap nutrasetikal meningkat dan peserta mendapatkan kemampuan di dalam pembuatan wedang ronde. Berdasarkan hasil kuesioner juga diketahui bahwa 94% peserta merasa kegiatan ini dirasa sangat baik dan sangat bermanfaat. Peserta juga merasa dapat mengaplikasikan ilmu yang didapat setelah pelatihan ini. Nutraceuticals are foods or parts of food that provide medical or health benefits, including prevention and therapy of disease. Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) is a perennial plant that is often found in Indonesia and can be processed into nutraceuticals that are beneficial for health such as wedang ronde. Through this community service activity, PKK women in Gegerung Village, Lingsar District, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara were given education and training in making the nutraceutical wedang ronde. The stages in this activity include activity preparation, implementation of socialization, training in making nutraceuticals using participatory methods and evaluation of activities through providing feedback by participants. Through this activity, participant’s knowledge of nutraceuticals increased and participants gained skills in making wedang ronde. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it was also known that 94% of participants felt that this activity was very good and very useful. Participants also felt they could apply the knowledge gained after this training

Abstract

Consuming healthy foods such as nutraceuticals or functional foods is very important to prevent and reduce the risk of degenerative and chronic diseases. Efforts to improve community knowledge and skills related to nutraceuticals are very important, so community service activities are carried out with the aim of providing socialization and training on the production of nutraceutical drinks from local natural ingredients, as well as health checks including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and uric acid. The partners of this community service activity are PKK women and the community in Kongok Hamlet, Meninting Village, Batulayar District, West Lombok Regency, NTB. The community service activities consist of several stages, namely activity preparation, location survey and coordination with partners, socialization of nutraceutical drinks using PowerPoint slides and leaflets, training on the production of nutraceutical drinks, health checks, and ending with post-tests and activity evaluations using questionnaires. The 56 residents who attended were very enthusiastic in participating in the activities. The results of the questionnaire showed that 35.7% of the participants who attended were able to answer questions related to the socialization material with an average score of 74.3. The results of the activity evaluation questionnaire stated that activities like this are very important to do and the selection and provision of material are very good and clear. Thus, it can be concluded that this community service activity is very beneficial for the community and the socialization and training materials can be understood well by the participants of the community service activity.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan masalah kurang gizi kronis akibat rendahnya asupan gizi pada 1000 hari pertama kehidupan. Stunting juga didefinisikan dengan kondisi tinggi badan seseorang yang kurang dari normal berdasarkan usia dan jenis kelamin akibat dari malnutrisi kronis yang sudah berlangsung bertahun-tahun. Pola makan merupakan salah satu faktor yang menjadi faktor kejadian stunting. Makanan yang tinggi protein hewani, misalnya ikan, merupakan bahan makanan yang mampu mencegah dan mengobati terjadinya stunting. Desa Meninting merupakan salah satu desa di Daerah Lombok Barat, Nusa Tenggara Barat yang mata pencaharian utamanya yaitu nelayan. Banyak jenis ikan laut yang dihasilkan, namun anak-anak tidak menyukai mengkonsumsi ikan. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi terkait stunting pada Ibu-Ibu di Desa Meninting dan memberikan pelatihan cara pengolahan ikan laut menjadi nugget yang lebih disukai oleh anak. Tahapan pada kegiatan ini meliputi persiapan kegiatan, pelaksanaan sosialisasi berupa edukasi terkait stunting dan pelatihan pengolahan ikan laut (ikan tongkol dan ikan guling-guling) dan evaluasi kegiatan melalui pemberian umpan balik oleh peserta. Berdasarkan hasil pendataan, peserta pengabdian 61% merupakan usia produtif (20-40 tahun) dan 79,5% merupakan Ibu Rumah Tangga. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat terkait stunting setelah dilakukan edukasi stunting. Sementara itu, pelatihan pembuatan nugget berbahan dasar ikan ini 88% responden menyatakan bahwa acara ini sangat penting. Selain itu, 79% responden meyatakan bahwa pengabdian ini sangat bermanfaat bagi mereka. Hasil pengabdian ini dapat dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan lanjutan terkait pengolahan nugget ikan berskala besar, pengemasan dan pendaftaran produk sehingga selain dapat meningkatkan kesehatan, namun dapat meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat

Graphical Abstract   Highlights of Research The chitosan was successfully produced from lobster shells Panulirus homarus. The characteristics and quality of chitosan from lobster shells Panulirus homarus were observed. The anti-fungal activity of chitosan was assessed. Chitosan enhances the water stability of lobster pellets.       Abstract Tropical rock lobster aquaculture is a lucrative industry that is currently limited by the lack of appropriate formulated feed. Its nocturnal, benthic feeding behavior necessitates a water-stable feed that maintains integrity under tropical marine conditions without degrading. Chitosan, a biopolymer derived from lobster (Panulirus homarus) shells, has potential applications in aquaculture as an antifungal agent and feed binder. We report on the characteristics of chitosan extracted from the exoskeleton of spiny lobsters (Panulirus homarus), including its effect on fungal activity and water stability of pellets. Chitosan was produced through three main steps: deproteination, demineralization, and deacetylation. The resulting chitosan was characterized through crude composition (AOAC methods), FTIR spectra, and scanning electron microscope (SEM), while antifungal activity was assessed through in vitro assays. Chitosan was used to coat lobster feed pellets by immersion method at different concentrations (0%, 0,5%, 1%, 1,5%, and 2%), and its impact on pellet water stability was assessed. There were three replications in fungal activity and water stability test. The yield of chitosan was 5.9 ± 0.01% of the total shell mass, with 96.99% ± 0.01 degree of deacetylation (DD). The resulting product contained 5.94 ± 0.07% moisture, 36.72 ± 0.05% ash and 2.73 ± 0.08% nitrogen. Chitosan morphology was characterized as an irregular shape with dimensions ranging from 157 to 391 µm, with a combination of striated surface textures. Increasing concentration of chitosan increased water stability of pellets up to 1.5% inclusion, while 0.5% optimized Fusarium sp. inhibition. These findings suggest that chitosan from lobster shells can be sustainably utilized to enhance feed quality, reducing fungal contamination and nutrient leaching in aquaculture systems.

Abstract

Akne vulgaris (AV) atau jerawat merupakan kondisi peradangan menahun unit pilosebasea dengan gambaran klinis biasanya polimorfik yang terdiri atas berbagai kelainan kulit berupa: komedo, papul, pustul, nodul, dan jaringan parut. AV dapat sembuh sendiri (Self limited disease). AV memiliki banyak penyebab, yaitu faktor genetik, ras, makanan, iklim, kebersihan kulit, penggunaan dan pemilihan kosmetik, serta faktor kejiwaan atau kelelahan. Tata laksana pengobatan jerawat umumnya menggunakan antibiotik yang dapat menghambat inflamasi, membunuh bakteri dan antioksidan mampu membantu jerawat lebih cepat sembuh serta mencegah kerusakan kulit lebih lanjut. Ashitaba (Angelica keiskei) merupakan tanaman tradisional dari Jepang, mengandung kalkon yang melimpah. Kandungan kalkon dari ashitaba yaitu 4-hidroksiderisin (4-HD) dan xantoangelol (XAG) menunjukkan bioaktivitas seperti antibakteri, antikanker, antiinflamasi, antioksidan dan antidiabetes. Metabolit sekunder lain yang terkandung dalam ashitaba antara lain alkaloid, triterpenoid, saponin, steroid dan glikosida. Literatur Review ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui metabolit sekunder dan aktivitas farmakologis sebagai antibiotik, antiinflamasi, serta antijerawat untuk Penyembuhan jerawat ashitaba terutama pada senyawa 4-hidroksiderisin dan Xantoangelol. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan artikel ini yaitu dengan mengumpulkan berbagai sumber berupa pustaka primer, sekunder, dan tersier.. Database yang digunakan yaitu Google Scholar, dan PubMed. Literatur yang digunakan terdiri dari dua bahasa, yaitu bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indonesia. Berdasarkan hasil data literatur, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kandungan kalkon yaitu 4-hidroksiderisin dan Xantoangelol tanaman ashitaba (Angelica keiskei) memiliki aktivitas farmakologis sebagai agen antibakteri, antiinflamasi dan antioksidan, sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pengobatan jerawat.

Abstract

Mangrove plants (Avicennia marina) come from the Avicenniaceae family. The leaves have antioxidant, antiviral and antibacterial activity caused by the content of secondary metabolites in mangrove leaves in the form of flavonoid compounds. Research on the total flavonoid content of 96% ethanol extract and the water, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane fractions of A. marina leaves has never been carried out. The aim of this study was to determine the total flavonoid content in extracts and fractions of A. marina mangrove leaves by UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. Extraction was carried out using 96% ethanol solvent by sonication method, then fractionation was carried out using the liquid-liquid fractionation method. The extracts and fractions obtained for their secondary metabolites were identified by test tube and thin layer chromatography and then the total flavonoid content was determined by the colorimetric method. Mangrove leaf extracts and fractions contain secondary metabolites of flavonoids, phenolics, saponins, steroids, triterpenoids, and alkaloids. The results of thin layer chromatography confirmed the results of the tube test that mangrove leaf extracts and fractions contained flavonoid compounds. Total flavonoid content in 96% ethanol extract, water fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and n-hexane fraction of A. marina mangrove leaves were 19.37; 3.07; 11.30; and 56.62 mg quercetin equivalent/gram sample. In conclusion, the total flavonoid content of A. marina leaves was high, thus supporting its activity as an antioxidant.

Abstract

Eksplorasi madu dan propolis Trigona sp sebagai antioksidan alami semakin ditekuni. Produksi madu dan propolis Trigona sp. di Kabupaten Lombok Utara semakin berkembang dengan total koloni sebesar 22.657 pada tahun 2019. Produksi yang melimpah tersebut belum dilengkapi dengan data ilmiah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan kadar fenolik total serta menghitung nilai IC50 dari madu dan propolis Trigona sp. asal Lombok Utara. Ekstrak madu Trigona sp. diperoleh menggunakan teknik sentrifugasi dan ekstrak propolis Trigona sp. menggunakan metode Ultrasound-assisted Extraction (UAE). Kadar fenolik total ditentukan menggunakan metode Folin-ciocalteu dan aktivitas radikal bebas ditentukan menggunakan metode DPPH. Ekstrak madu Trigona sp. asal Lombok Utara memiliki kadar senyawa fenolik total sebesar 1,25 0,08 mg GAE/g, dan Nilai IC50 sebesar1550 ± 0,02 μg/ml. Ekstrak propolis Trigona sp. asal Lombok Utara memiliki kadar senyawa fenolik total ekstrak propolis sebesar 6,02 0,55 mg GAE/g, dan Nilai IC50 sebesar 493,3±0,01 μg/ml.http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/aec.v6.i1.2021.p74-82
