Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: The most used denture base is heat cured acrylic resin. The use of dentures can cause denture stomatitis. The action taken to prevent denture stomatitis is by cleaning the denture. Chemical denture cleaners can reduce surface hardness of acrylic resin surfaces. Alternative natural denture cleanser is used to minimize the effects of chemical denture cleanser. The natural denture cleanser is using 12,5% Basil leaves and 25% Mauli banana stem extracts. Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the comparison in surface hardness of heat cured acrylic resin which immersed in 12.5% Basil leaves and 25% Mauli banana stem extracts with alkaline peroxide and distilled water. Methods: This study was a true experimental study with pre and posttest with control group design, using 24 cylindrical type heat cured acrylic resin samples with a diameter of 30 mm and 5 mm thickness. The study used 3 treatment groups: 12.5% Basil leaves and 25% Mauli banana stem extracts, alkaline peroxide, and distilled water. Hardness testing was done using Vickers Hardness Testing. Results: The mean of the decrease in surface hardness value of heat cured acrylic resin which was immersed in extract solution, alkaline peroxide, distilled water are 1.40, 1.38, and 0.60 respectively. Data were analyzed statistically using One-Way ANOVA parametric test and Bonferroni Post Hoc test. Conclusion: The decrease in surface hardness value of heat cured type acrylic resin immersed in 12.5% Basil leaves and 25% Mauli banana stem extracts is higher than those immersed in alkaline peroxide and distilled water.Keywords: Basil leaves and Mauli banana stem extracts, surface hardness, heat cured acrylic resin ABSTRAKLatar belakang: Basis gigi tiruan yang banyak digunakan adalah resin akrilik tipe heat cured. Penggunaan gigi tiruan dapat menyebabkan denture stomatitis. Tindakan yang dilakukan untuk mencegah denture stomatitis yaitu dengan melakukan pembersihan gigi tiruan. Pembersih gigi tiruan berbahan kimia dapat menurunkan kekerasan permukaan resin akrilik. Alternatif pembersih gigi tiruan alami digunakan untuk meminimalisir efek yang ditimbulkan oleh pembersih gigi tiruan berbahan kimia. Bahan pembersih gigi tiruan alami yang dipakai yaitu ekstrak daun kemangi 12,5% dan batang pisang mauli 25%. Tujuan: penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbandingan kekerasan basis resin akrilik tipe heat cured yang direndam pada ekstrak daun kemangi 12,5% dan batang pisang mauli 25% dengan alkalin peroksida dan akuades. Metode: penelitian ini merupakan penelitian true experimental dengan pre and posttest with control group design, menggunakan 24 sampel resin akrilik tipe heat cured berbentuk silindris dengan diameter 30 mm dan tebal 5 mm. Penelitian menggunakan 3 kelompok perlakuan: ekstrak daun kemangi 12,5% dan batang pisang mauli 25%, alkalin peroksida dan akuades. Uji kekerasan dilakukan menggunakan Vickers Hardness Testing. Hasil penelitian: Rerata nilai penurunan kekerasan permukaan resin akrilik tipe heat cured yang direndam pada larutan ekstrak daun kemangi 12,5% dan batang pisang mauli 25% sebesar 1,40, alkalin peroksida sebesar 1,38 dan akuades sebesar 0,60. Data dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan uji parametrik One Way ANOVA dan uji Post Hoc Bonferroni. Kesimpulan: Nilai penurunan kekerasan permukaan resin akrilik tipe heat cured yang direndam pada ekstrak daun kemangi 12,5% dan batang pisang mauli 25% lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan resin akrilik tipe heat cured yang direndam pada alkalin peroksida dan akuades.Kata-kata kunci: Ekstrak daun kemangi dan batang pisang mauli, kekerasan permukaan, resin akrilik tipe heat cured

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Radiasi sering digunakan dalam bidang kedokteran terutama untuk terapi dan pemeriksaan penunjang. Radiografer merupakan pekerja yang mengoperasikan seluruh kegiatan di Instalasi Radiologi untuk terapi maupun pemeriksaan penunjang. Radiasi dapat memberikan efek samping pada radiografer terutama pada saliva. Kalsium dalam saliva memegang peran penting dalam proses remineralisasi gigi untuk mengurangi resiko karies. Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh radiasi terhadap kalsium saliva pada radiografer di Banjarmasin. Metode: Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental murni (True Experimental) dengan rancangan post test only with control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel penelitian menggunakan simple random sampling. Penelitian ini melibatkan 18 orang radiografer untuk kelompok uji dan 18 orang non-radiografer untuk kelompok kontrol, sehingga total sampel yang digunakan adalah 36 sampel. Hasil: Nilai rata-rata kalsium saliva untuk kelompok uji adalah 4,13 mg/dl dan kelompok kontrol adalah 6,17 mg/dl. Hasil uji parametrik uji T tidak berpasangan didapatkan p=0,000 (p<0,05) dan didapatkan bahwa kalsium saliva radiografer lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan kalsium saliva non-radiografer. Kesimpulan: Terdapat perbedaan kadar antara kalsium saliva radiografer dan kalsium saliva non-radiografer.Kata kunci: kalsium saliva, radiasi, radiografer

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Dental and oral health is a unity of body health, so their health must be maintained. One of the most common dental and oral diseases suffered by Indonesians is dental caries. This dental and oral health problem resulted in tooth extraction due to caries, so it requires medication to accelerate wound healing after tooth extraction. Some parts of the kasturi mango plant, such as leaves, fruits, and bark are known to have active substances and potentially against the density of hard callus. Purpose: to review various research articles related to the overview of the effect of mango kasturi bark extract (Mangifera casturi) on hard callus density. Method: All reviewed articles are obtained from Google Scholar and Science Direct data sources searches, and has a maximum journal publishing time span of the last 10 years. Result: The review was conducted in 10 journals found to fit inclusion criteria such as journals available in full-text form and research subjects extracting mango kasturi bark (Mangifera casturi). Conclusion: Kasturi mango bark extract has a direct and indirect influence on hard callus density. Keywords :, hard callus, mango kasturi bark extract, wound healing ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan satu kesatuan dari kesehatan tubuh yang harus dipelihara kesehatannya, salah satu penyakit gigi dan mulut yang paling banyak diderita masyarakat Indonesia ialah karies gigi. Permasalahan kesehatan gigi dan mulut ini mengakibatkan pencabutan gigi karena karies, sehingga memerlukan obat untuk mempercepat penyembuhan luka pasca ekstraksi gigi. Beberapa bagian tanaman mangga kasturi, seperti daun, buah, dan kulit batangnya diketahui memiliki zat aktif dan berpotensi terhadap kepadatan hard callus. Tujuan: mengulas berbagai artikel penelitian yang berkaitan dengan gambaran pengaruh ekstrak kulit batang mangga kasturi (Mangifera casturi) terhadap kepadatan hard callus. Metode: Semua artikel yang direview diperoleh dari pencarian sumber data Google Scholar, dan Science Direct yang memiliki rentang waktu penerbitan jurnal maksimal 10 tahun terakhir. Hasil: Review dilakukan pada 10 jurnal yang ditemukan sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi seperti jurnal tersedia dalam bentuk full-text dan subjek penelitian ekstrak kulit batang mangga kasturi (Mangifera casturi). Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: The impacted tooth interferes with chewing function and causes various complications. The treatment performed by dentists for impacted teeth was odontectomy. Complications the odontectomy after odontectomy ranged from 2.6% - 30.9%. Purpose: This paper aims to obtain panoramic radiograph images after odontectomy with abnormal conditions. Methods: Articles were obtained from the search engines Pubmed, Semantic Scholar, and Google Scholar within the last five years of publication. Results: A total of 30 articles were obtained, found in 10 that Articles are fit the inclusion criteria, in English and Indonesian, in full paper form, and discussed post odontectomy panoramic photos with abnormal conditions. Discussion: The search for research articles on panoramic radiographs after odontectomy showed in 10 that Articles 3 abnormal conditions occurred after odontectomy. Conclusion: There are Lingual Nerve Injury, Inferior Alveolar Nerve, and Mandibular Angle Fracture, namely three abnormal conditions that happened after odontectomy, and there is the picture that abnormal after odontectomy based on age, sex, impact classification, odontectomy technique, and type of complication. Keywords: Abnormal odontectomy, Abnormal picture after odontectomy, panoramic radiography. ABSTRAKLatar Belakang Gigi impaksi mengganggu fungsi mengunyah dan menyebabkan berbagai komplikasi. Perawatan yang dilakukan oleh dokter gigi untuk gigi impaksi adalah odontektomi. Komplikasi odontektomi setelah odontektomi berkisar antara 2,6% - 30,9%. Tujuan: Makalah ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan citra radiograf panoramik setelah odontektomi dengan kondisi tidak normal. Metode: Artikel diperoleh dari mesin pencari Pubmed, Semantic Scholar, dan Google Scholar dalam lima tahun terakhir publikasi. Hasil: Diperoleh total 30 artikel, ditemukan 10 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi, berbahasa Inggris dan Indonesia, dalam bentuk full paper, dan membahas foto panorama pasca odontektomi dengan kondisi abnormal. Diskusi: Pencarian artikel penelitian tentang radiografi panoramik setelah odontektomi menunjukkan pada 10 artikel bahwa kondisi abnormal terjadi setelah odontektomi. Kesimpulan: Terdapat Cedera Saraf Lingual, Saraf Alveolar Inferior, dan Fraktur Sudut Mandibula, yaitu tiga kondisi abnormal yang terjadi setelah odontektomi, dan ada gambaran yang abnormal setelah odontektomi berdasarkan usia, jenis kelamin, klasifikasi benturan, teknik odontektomi, dan jenis penyakit. komplikasi.Kata Kunci:  Gambaran abnormal paska odontektomi, Odontektomi abnormal, Radiografi panoramic.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Denture cleanser that are often used are in the form of chemical solvent. Chemicals have side effects which may increase the degree of surface roughness in acrylic resin-based dentures. Surface roughness causes plaque formation and accumulation of Candida albicans which is the cause of denture stomatitis. Alternative can be used as denture cleanser such as 25% mauli banana stem extract and 12.5% basil leave. The combination of these two extracts is expected to have better effectiveness against Candida albicans by not changing the nature of the acrylic resin base is surface roughness. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of value surface roughness heat cured acrylic resin immersed with extract of 25% mauli banana stem and 12.5% basil leave. Methods: This research was a true experimental laboratory pretest and postest with control group design, using a simple random sampling technique. Sample of acrylic resin was rectangular 65 x 10 x 3.3 mm. The samples were 24 in number and divided into 3 treatment groups, 25% mauli banana stem and 12.5% basil leave extract, alkaline peroxide, and aquadest. Surface roughness measurement was performed using surface roughness tester. Result: The mean results of surface roughness increase in 25% banana mauli stem and 12.5% basil leave extract, alkaline peroxide, and aquadest group were 0.0613 µm, 0.0663 µm, and 0.0425 µm respectively. Data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA and Bonferroni Post Hoc test. Conclusion: An increase in surface roughness of acrylic resin on alkaline peroxide immersion is higher than 25% mauli banana stem and 12.5% basil leave extract, and aquadest.Keywords: Heat cured acrylic resin, mauli banana stem and basil leaves extract, surface roughness  ABSTRAKLatar belakang: Pembersih gigi tiruan yang sering digunakan adalah perendaman secara kimiawi. Bahan kimia memiliki efek samping dapat menyebabkan kekasaran permukaan pada basis gigi tiruan resin akrilik. Kekasaran permukaan menyebabkan penumpukan plak dan akumulasi Candida albicans yang merupakan penyebab denture stomatitis. Bahan alternatif yang dapat digunakan sebagai pembersih gigi tiruan yaitu ekstrak batang pisang mauli 25% dan daun kemangi 12,5%. Kombinasi antara kedua eksrtrak tersebut diharapkan memiliki efektifitas yang lebih baik terhadap Candida albicans dengan tidak merubah sifat basis resin akrilik yaitu kekasaran permukaan. Tujuan penelitian: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh nilai kekasaran permukaan resin akrilik tipe heat cured yang direndam dengan ekstrak batang pisang mauli 25% dan daun kemangi 12,5%. Metode: Penelitian eksperimental laboratorium murni dengan Pretest and Postest with Control Group Design, pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling, bentuk sampel resin akrilik tipe heat cured persegi panjang 65 x 10 x 3,3 mm berjumlah 24 sampel yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok perlakuan yaitu ekstrak batang pisang mauli 25% dan daun kemangi 12,5%, alkalin peroksida, dan akuades. Pengukuran kekasaran permukaan menggunakan alat surface roughness tester. Hasil penelitian: Hasil rerata peningkatan kekasaran permukaan yang dihasilkan pada ekstrak batang pisang mauli 25% dan daun kemangi 12,5%, alkalin peroksida, dan akuades sebesar (0,0613 µm, 0,0663 µm dan 0,0425 µm). Data dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik One Way ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Pos Hoc Bonferroni. Kesimpulan: Peningkatan kekasaran permukaan resin akrilik pada perendaman alkalin peroksida lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan ekstrak batang pisang mauli 25% dan daun kemangi 12,5%, dan akuades.Kata-kata kunci: Ekstrak batang pisang mauli dan daun kemangi, kekasaran permukaan, resin akrilik tipe heat cured.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: The field of medicine is currently experiencing high progress, one of which is the radiography. The use of X-rays in medicine is as a diagnostic and therapeutic aid. X-rays can be used for diagnosis and treatment of patients. Therapy using radiation is called radiotherapy. Radiotherapy is one way of dealing with cancer, including cancer of the head and neck. The basic principle in radiotherapy for cancer or malignancy is to cause damage to every molecule that is exposed to radiation, resulting in the rupture of cell molecules so that cell damage occurs. Objective: To review various research articles related to the description of the effect of radiation on salivary pH. Methods: A review was conducted on 8 journals that were found to match the inclusion criteria such as journals available in full-text form and research subjects on the effect of radiation on salivary pH. Results: Based on 8 articles that have been reviewed, it was found that 8 articles (100%) stated that there was an effect of radiation on salivary pH after exposure to radiation after radiotherapy. The results showed that articles related to decreasing salivary pH stated that after being exposed to radiation after radiotherapy they tended to decrease salivary pH rather than increase it. Conclusion: there was a decrease in salivary pH after exposure to radiation. Keywords: Radiation, radiotherapy, salivary glands, salivary pH, X-rays. ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Bidang kedokteran saat ini telah mengalami kemajuan yang tinggi, salah satunya bagian radiografi. Penggunaan sinar-X dalam bidang kedokteran adalah sebagai alat bantu diagnostik dan terapi. Sinar-X dapat dimanfaatkan untuk diagnosa maupun terapi pasien. Terapi dengan menggunakan radiasi disebut radioterapi. Radioterapi merupakan salah satu cara dalam usaha menanggulangi kanker, termasuk kanker pada bagian kepala dan leher. Prinsip dasar dalam radioterapi kanker atau keganasan adalah menimbulkan kerusakan pada setiap molekul yang terkena paparan sinar radiasinya mengakibatkan pecahnya molekul-molekul sel sehingga terjadi kerusakan sel.  Tujuan: Mengulas berbagai artikel penelitian yang berkaitan dengan gambaran pengaruh radiasi terhadap pH saliva. Metode: Review dilakukan pada 8 jurnal yang ditemukan sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi seperti jurnal tersedia dalam bentuk full-text dan subjek penelitian pengaruh radiasi terhadap pH saliva. Hasil: Berdasarkan 8 artikel yang telah dilakukan telaah, didapatkan bahwa 8 artikel (100%) menyatakan bahwa terdapat pengaruh radiasi terhadap pH saliva setelah terkena paparan radiasi pasca radioterapi. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa artikel yang berkaitan dengan penurunan pH saliva menyatakan setelah terkena radiasi pasca radioterapi cenderung dapat menurunkan pH saliva daripada meningkatkan pH tersebut. Kesimpulan: Terjadi penurunan pH saliva setelah terkena paparan radiasi. Kata kunci: Kelenjar saliva, , pH saliva, radiasi, radioterapi, sinar-X.

Abstract

Objectives: This study is aimed to analyze the panoramic mandibular index value in male and female hypertensive patients using panoramic radiography. Materials and Methods: This research is a comparative analytic research with a purposive sampling technique. The study sample was hypertensive patients at Ulin Hospital, Banjarmasin from March to May 2023. Results: The results showed that there was no statistically significant difference through statistical data on the panoramic mandibular index value between men (0.27 ± 0.07) and women (0.26 ± 0.09), The age group that experienced a decrease in mandibular cortical thickness was most in the age group ≥ 65 years (0.22 ± 0.06). Conclusion: It is known that there is no significant difference in the panoramic mandibular index value between women and men.

Abstract

Background: Excessive free radicals cause oxidative stress which is dangerous for the body. The number of free radicals in the body can be controlled with the presence of antioxidants. Kelakai leaves (Stenochlaena palustris.) are known to have activity as an antioxidant which has the potential to become an ingredient in herbal medicine. Purpose: To prove whether there is a toxic effect of administering kelakai leaf extract on the kidneys of Wistar rats based on analysis of blood urea and creatinine levels. Method: A pure experimental study with a posttest-only with control group design method, there were 4 groups consisting of 1 negative control group and 3 treatment groups who were given kelakai leaf extract orally for 28 days and then analyzed the blood urea and creatinine levels of the Wistar rats. Results: The average values of urea and creatinine levels in the three treatment groups were still within the normal range. There was a significant difference in the urea levels of all groups (p<0.05), and there was no significant difference in the creatinine levels of treatment groups 2 and 3 (p>0.05). Conclusion: Kelakai leaf extract given orally for 28 days did not cause toxic effects on the kidneys of Wistar rats based on analysis of blood urea and creatinine levels.

Abstract

Objectives: This study is aimed to measure the Gonial index (GI) value in male and female hypertensive patients using panoramic radiography. Materials and Methods: This is a comparative analytical research. The sampling technique used was the purposive sampling technique. The sample of this study was primary data from panoramic radiographs of hypertensive patients who had been X-rayed at the Radiology Installation of Ulin General Hospital, Banjarmasin. Results: There was no significant difference in the gonial index (GI) values between men (17.83 mm) and women (19.17 mm), with the size of the right region of the female 20.33 mm and the left of the female 16.67 mm and the size of the right region of the male is 17.03 mm and the left male is 19.97 mm. Conclusion: There was no significant difference between the gonial index (GI) values ​​between women and men, although the decrease of bone density in women is higher than in men.

Objectives: This research is aimed to determine the mandibular cortical thickness by the Mental Index value using panoramic radiography in patients with type 2 DM based on length of suffering ≤ 5 years and > 5 years. Materials and Methods: This research is using unpaired comparative analytical design with a cross-sectional stratified random sampling method and unpaired T-test statistic. Results: 34 samples of patients with type 2 DM showed that the mean mental index was 4.219 ± 1.223. The two groups did not have a difference in the meaning of the MI value. The MI of the group with a shorter history of suffering (≤ 5 years) was 4.227 ± 1.063 and the group with a longer history of suffering (>5 years) was 4.211 ± 1.399. There were 8 people who experienced thinning bone from the whole age group, the most were from the age group of 51-60 years old. Conclusion: Mental Index (MI) value is greater or exceeds the normal value (≥ 3,1 mm) in both groups of patients with type 2 DM based on length of suffering ≤ 5 years and > 5 years.
