Abstract

Media pembelajaran berperan sebagai salah satu sumber belajar bagi siswa. Artinya melalui media pembelajaran siswa dapat memperoleh pesan dan informasi sehingga membentuk pengetahuan baru pada siswa. Media pembelajaran meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami materi dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil observasi yang dilakukan pada siswa SD Negeri 106457 Kecamatan Bandar Khalipah Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai, ditemukan bahwa pembelajaran yang masih dominan berpusat pada guru (Teacher Learning Centered) seperti metode ceramah, membaca buku teks ,dan mencatat. Hal ini membuat siswa kehilangan motivasi belajar dan kurang berpartisipasi selama pembelajaran. Upaya mengatasi hal tersebut dengan melakukan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) melalui penyusunan dan pembuatan media pembelajaran. Media yang dibuat mencakup rangkaian listrik paralel-seri dan cangkir satuan panjang. Kedua media tersebut dipilih berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan guru sekolah tersebut. Guru-guru di sekolah itu menyatakan bahwa materi rangkaian listrik dan satuan panjang sulit dipaham.Tujuan PKM ini adalah : 1) Sosialisasi penggunaan media pembelajaran; 2) Pendampingan penggunaan media pembelajaran bagi guru. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan metode pembelajaran pengalaman dengan tahapan sebagai berikut : 1)Persiapan 2) Penyusunan dan pemberian media pembelajaran 3) Pelaksanaan pelatihan dan pendampingan penggunaan media, dan 4) Evaluasi pelaksanaan. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukan bahwa: 1) Peningkatan pengetahuan guru mengenai penggunaan media pembelajaran sebesar 95%, 2) Peningkatan keterampilan guru menyiapkan media pembelajaran sebesar 95%.Tanggapan peserta kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sebesar 67% memberikan respon sangat baik sedangkan sisanya 33% memberikan respon baik terhadap kegiatan PKM.

Abstract

Desa Pantai Labu Pekan Kecamatan Pantai Labu, yang lokasinya dipesisir pantai, merupakan daerah yang terdapak limbah seperti plastik, kardus dan cangkang kerang. Masalah limbah ini memang memerlukan penanganan yang serius. Seharusnya setiap orang sejak dini sudah memahami betapa bahayanya limbah. Dia harus sadar akan ini dalam kehidupannya sehari-hari. Sebagai alasan ke dua dalam pengabdian ini, kita harus mendidik anak-anak sejak dini. Pengabdian ini dilakukan di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 105337 yang terletak di desa ini. Limbah ini dimanfaatkan siswa SD sebagai bahan untuk media pembelajaran yang efektif dan menarik. Limbah tersebut juga dimanfaatkan untuk bahan kerajinan sehingga membangkitkan kreatifitas siswa. Selain itu juga siswa SD tersebut diharapkan memahami tentang perlunya mengatasi limbah yang ada disekitar lingkungannya. Pada pengabdian ini dilakukan penyuluhan tentang limbah, dampaknya dan cara mengatasinya. Setelah dilakukan penyuluhan, barulah siswa-siswa tersebut diajak membuat hiasan kelas untuk membangkitkan kreatifitas mereka. Siswa-siswa SD bersemangat mengikuti acara tersebut dan mereka sangat senang ketika membuat hiasan dari limbah. Pengabdian ini membuat mereka memahami bahaya limbah, dan mengajari mereka bagaimana cara untuk mengatasinya.

Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a program designed to achieve sustainable development goals. In the 2013 curriculum, ESD has been used as one of the bases for teaching science to students. However, the existence of the Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia has had an effect on science learning activities in junior high schools, so that face-to-face learning has been shifted to online learning. This study aims to analyze activities in online learning, the obstacles experienced by teachers and students, and their effectiveness in implementing ESD principles. The method used is descriptive qualitative to describe online learning at one of the Junior High School (SMP) and Islamic Junior High School (MTs) in West Java. The Researchers used data from the analysis of the teacher's lesson plan and semi-structured interviews with 2 teachers and 2 students. Data analysis was performed by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results show that online learning is less effective in implementing ESD values because the material presented is limited and learning is only one-way (teacher center). Online learning is carried out using WhatsApp, Google Classroom, and e-learning media with obstacles in the form of internet network instability and a lack of student motivation. Therefore, it is hoped that the teacher can use a learning model that is more attractive, student-centered, and can implement the principles of ESD.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the STEAM-based discivery learning model on students' critical thinking skills. This research is a type of meta-analysis research. The researchsample came from 17 national and international journals. Samples were obtained through databases in the journals Springer, Wiley, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, Taylor of Francis, SAGE, and the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC). The inclusion criteria are research published in 2019-2023; The study had experimental and control classes, journals had to be indexed Science and Technology Index (SINTA), Scopus, and Web of Science (WOS) and the sample size in this study was 1,078 students. Data analysis calculated the value of summary effect size, heterogeneity test and publication bias with JASP 0.8.0.4 application.  These results conclude that the summary effect size value (rE = 0.902; p < 0.001) then this result shows that the STEAM-based discovery learning model has a positive effect on students' critical thinking skills at high criteria. This finding shows that the application of the STEAM-based discovery learning model has a significant influence on students' critical thinking skills in learning at school.

Abstract

The paper aims to compare the effectiveness of two learning models, namely Discovery Learning (DL) and Problem Based Learning (PBL), in improving student learning outcomes in science subjects. This type of research is experimental research. The population in this study were all class IV students at SDN 002 SK (Samarinda City), totaling three classes. The calculation results show that the average pretest score in experimental class I is 45.12, which is higher compared to 35.60 in experimental class II. After treatment, the average posttest score in experimental class I increased to 85.80, while in experimental class II it reached 82.11. The average N-Gain for both classes was 0.74, indicating a significant increase in learning outcomes in both classes, although experimental class I showed slightly better results. More in-depth analysis based on high and low learning outcome categories shows consistent differences in the effectiveness of learning models. Hypothesis testing using the T Test, which is applied because the data distribution is normal and the variance is homogeneous, shows a calculated t-value of 8.60 which far exceeds the t_table of 2.070. This causes rejection of H_0 and acceptance of H_1, indicating that the Discovery Learning (DL) model in experimental class I provides better learning results than the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in experimental class II.

Abstract

Based on the results of observations conducted by conducting a mathematical representation ability test on students of SMP IT Al-Fauzi, researchers obtained data that students' visual mathematical representation abilities were classified as moderate, and mathematical representation abilities on verbal representation indicators and mathematical expression representation of students were classified as low. The rapid development of information technology at this time cannot be separated from its influence on the world of education. Global demands require the world of education to adjust learning to technological developments, with the aim of improving the quality of education, as well as to improve teacher performance in order to be able to compete in the global world, in the current era of technological development, learning media has an important role in conveying messages from the sender to the recipient, in this case the existence of learning media has an important role in conveying material by educators to students, with the existence of learning media will make the learning atmosphere more effective and can overcome boredom in learning in class. One of the learning media is audio-visual media, saying that there is a problem regarding the lack of teacher knowledge regarding the creation and use of learning media. Therefore, teachers are expected to be able to equip themselves with insight and skills in designing learning media, because without sufficient provisions, teachers cannot improve the quality of their learning. The steps of this 4-D development model consist of 4 stages: the define stage, design, develop and implement. This research was conducted in the odd semester, the research was conducted at SDIT AL-Fauzi Medan. The Technology Readiness Level (TKT) of this study is a proof of concept related to the Development of Animated Video Learning Media as a supporting force for Students' Mathematical Representation Abilities which produces RPP and measuring tools to measure students' representation abilities and learning media so that they can influence learning outcomes and can be utilized in the learning and teaching process in the world of education.

Abstract

Biology is one of the scientific fields that was born and developed through the steps of observation, problem formulation, making hypotheses based on experiments, drawing conclusions, and discovering concepts and theories. Biology learning will not be separated from laboratory or practical activities. Understanding the concept plays a very pivotal role in learning activities and has become the basis for achieving the learning outcomes. One of the instructional strategies is called PPD (Practice, Presentation and Discussion). This study aimed to determine the effect of the PPD strategies in enhancing students' conceptual understanding. This study applied a pre-experimental research method with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects were twelfth grade high school students. These subjects were randomly selected with the number of 35 students. The results showed that the application of the PPD strategies has proven to be influential in enhancing students’ mastery of photosynthesis concepts. The increase in concept mastery could be viewed from the level change of students' comprehension as the mean score of 43.18, where the students’ initial knowledge (pretest) was 38.12, significantly increasing after the implementation of the PPD strategies (posttest) as of 81.30. Based on the standard of minimal accomplishment criteria, the effectiveness of the PPD strategies on students’ concept mastery was between 71-85 which was stated in the high category.
