Abstract

This study aims to: (1) examine the learning process through the play method in improving the communication skills of children with speech delay at Tunas Bangsa Kindergarten, East Kutai Regency; and (2) identify the outcomes of applying this method to enhance children's communication abilities. The study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods. This independent CAR involved the teacher as both the implementer and the researcher. The research was conducted to directly improve the learning process, particularly in addressing the low communication skills of children with speech development disorders. The subjects were 4 children with speech delay out of a total of 15 students in the class. The primary instrument was the researcher (human instrument). Data were collected through classroom observations, field notes describing teacher and student activities, tests (evaluations and final assessments) to measure progress in communication skills, and documentation of the children’s development during the learning process. The results show that the success indicators were met, with 60% to 75% of students showing positive engagement and enjoyment during play-based learning, and 75% to 80% achieving minimum to maximum levels of improvement. Additionally, there was a noticeable increase in the number of words and sentences used by children with speech delay, demonstrating that play-based media is effective in enhancing their communication abilities. This finding confirms that a fun, interactive, and child-centered learning approach can positively impact the language development of children with special needs.

Abstract

This study examines representations of work culture, hustle ideology, and burnout in contemporary Indonesian fiction featuring millennial and Gen-Z protagonists. Employing qualitative literary analysis, the research analyzes 26 texts published between 2015-2024 through close reading and thematic coding frameworks. Findings reveal that 85% of texts explicitly engage with hustle culture, with 60% adopting critical narrative positions that expose contradictions between entrepreneurial promises and lived precarity. Burnout appears consistently across 92% of the corpus, depicted through sophisticated narrative techniques including fragmented syntax, non-linear chronology, and body metaphors that formally enact psychological suffering. The analysis demonstrates burnout as structural condition produced by toxic organizational systems, with 83% of fictional workplaces violating work-life boundaries and 67% exhibiting low psychological safety. Gendered patterns emerge significantly, with 80% of female protagonists experiencing burnout compounded by emotional labor expectations while 73% of male protagonists face provider pressures. Generational analysis reveals millennials express disillusionment from broken meritocratic promises while Gen-Z demonstrates baseline cynicism, though comparable burnout rates indicate structural conditions overwhelm individual attitudes. Individual resistance strategies appear in 54% of texts while collective organizing remains rare at 12%, suggesting literary reinforcement of neoliberal individualization. The research affirms literature's epistemic value for accessing subjective dimensions of work-related suffering while documenting cultural contestation around labor ideologies, contributing theoretical frameworks for analyzing Southeast Asian workplace fiction and practical evidence supporting policy interventions for labor protection, organizational transformation, and mental health support infrastructure.

Abstract

Religious traditions are an integral part of rural community life and play an important role in preserving Islamic culture, including in Pandan Wangi Village. This study aimed to describe and analyze the implementation of Yasinan and Al-Barzanji recitations within the religious traditions of the Pandan Wangi Village community. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnographic approach through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentary study. The findings show that Yasinan and Al-Barzanji recitations function not only as religious rituals but also as a medium of social cohesion, a means of moral education, and an instrument for preserving Islamic cultural values. This tradition is carried out regularly in various events, such as the commemoration of the Prophet’s Mawlid, tahlilan, and other religious activities, and it continues to be maintained amid the challenges of modernization as a collective identity and spiritual heritage transmitted across generations. This study affirms the importance of preserving local traditions as a form of cultural resilience and strengthening religious values in rural community life.
