Abstract

Latar belakang: Pencemaran lingkungan sebagai dampak dari limbah ternak disekitar pemukiman warga menjadi permasalahan yang umum terjadi, hal ini disebabkan karena belum terdapat upaya pengolahan pada limbah kotoran ternak sapi di masyarakat. Tujuan: Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di Desa Pulosari, Bareng, Kabupaten Jombang ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya menjaga kebersihan kandang dan lingkungan untuk kesejahteraan warga melalui peningkatan pendapatan dari pengolahan limbah peternakan. Metode: Pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan dengan beberapa metode, mulai dari sosialisasi, penyuluhan kepada peternak sapi dan pelatihan pengolahan limbah kotoran sapi sebagai media budidaya cacing tanah. Hasil: Kegiatan pengabdian ini dapat memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada peternak sapi dalam pengolahan limbah ternak menjadi media yang dapat digunakan untuk budidaya cacing tanah. Panen cacing tanah telah dilakukan pada bulan ketiga, sehingga dapat sebagai tambahan pendapatan warga masyarakat. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam mengatasai limbah ternak dengan budidaya cacing tanah ini dapat dilakukan secara berkelanjutan oleh masyarakat di Desa Pulosari, Bareng, Kabupaten Jombang. Faktor pendukung program sosialisasi dan dan pelatihan yaitu respon baik dari masyarakat, pihak desa, narasumber yang berkompeten dan tersedianya sumber daya. Faktor penghambat yaitu pola pikir dan motivasi masyarakat untuk memulai budidaya cacing tanah. Kesimpulan: Keberlanjutan program pengabdian dapat mengatasi permasalahan limbah ternak dan dapat meningkatkan perekonomian warga masyarakat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bioakumulasi Timbal (Pb) dan nilai organoleptik ikan bandeng (Chanos chanos) dari tambak kawasan industri Sidoarjo. Sampel berjumlah 14 ekor ikan dengan berat minimum 500 gram  dan diperoleh dari tambak maksimum 400 m dari wilayah Industri Kecamatan Sedati. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survey dan observasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam analisis kandungan Pb pada ikan bandeng yaitu pengujian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan Spektrofotometri Serapan Atom (SSA). Sedangkan metode yang digunakan dalam uji organoleptik melalui panelis yang telah ditunjuk untuk memberikan range nilai 1-9 kepada sampel ikan bandeng yang telah diperoleh dari hasil sampling, dengan beberapa aspek yang telah ditentukan. Aspek penilaian yang menjadi tolak ukur penilaian antara lain : mata, insang, dan daging. Panelis terdiri dari 25 orang panelis tidak terlatih. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan hasil organoleptik diolah menggunakan uji Kruskal-Wallis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, seluruh sampel terdeteksi positif terdapat bioakumulasi Pb bernilai 0,023 – 0,14. Nilai organoleptik menunjukkan angka yang baik yaitu antara 7 – 8. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa terdapat bioakumulasi Pb pada ikan bandeng sebesar 0,14 mg/kg dan ikan memiliki nilai organoleptik yang baik. Ikan tersebut layak untuk dikonsumsi karena bioakumulasi Pb masih sesuai SNI yaitu 0,3 mg/kg dan nilai organoleptik 7 menurut SNI.Kata kunci: Bandeng; Organoleptik; Pb; Sidoarjo; Timbal

Abstract

Trypanosomiasis caused by Trypanosoma evansi is a major protozoan illness that affects animals worldwide. It is also referred to as “surra” and affects a variety if wild and domestic animals such as sheep, cattle, goats, dogs, buffaloes, pigs, elephants, amongst others. In preparing this review, relevant scientific articles were searched on PubMed, SCOPUS, and Web of Science databases using the keyword “Trypanosoma evansi AND animals”. T. evansi are carried by a vast number of hematophagous flies and are found in the extracellular and internal fluids of certain hosts. Trypanosomosis is mostly characterized by anemia, and the degree of anemia can typically be used as a gauge for the disease's severity. Trypanosomiasis compromises the host animal's immune system and its diagnosis is dependent on a number of factors such as thorough clinical examination, suitable sample collection, sample size, suitable diagnostic test performance, and logical interpretation of test results. The clinical manifestations of trypanosomiasis vary widely in both appearance and severity, ranging from neurological disturbances and skin plaques to vaginal enlargement. Hematophagous biting flies, including Tabanus, Haematopota, Glossina, Chrysops, Lyperosia, Stomoxys, and Hippobusca flies, contribute to the spread of trypanosomiasis. Four medications are primarily used to treat trypanosomiasis: quinapyramine, karetin, diminazene aceturate (Berenil), and melarsomine (cymelarsan). An efficient vaccination program is an additional technique for managing infectious diseases in addition to treatment. The most important step in curtailing the spread of trypanosomiasis caused by T. evansi is to stop its transmission by flies via physical and chemical methods.

Abstract

The aimed of this study was to determine the effectivity of pineapple essence (Ananas Comosus) as a natural reservative in chicken meat with parameters of total colony of bacteria and pH. The experimental design used completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments applied were P0 as a control, P1 (25% pineapple essence), P2 (50% pineapple essence), and P3 (100% pineapple essence). The parameters of this study were the total colony of bacteria (TPC) and pH. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the total colony of bacteria in meat were P0 = 4,2 x104, P1 = 2,0 x 104, P2 = 1,9 x 104, dan P3 = 1,2 x 104. pH in chicken meat P0 = 5,0 ± 0,17a, P1 = 4,2 ± 0,05b, P2 = 4,0 ± 0,08c, dan P3 = 3,9 ± 0,10d.. The results of this study showed significant difference in chicken meat containing pineapple essence on total colony of bacteria and pH. The most effective result was chicken meat with 100% pineapple essence.

Abstract

One of the good sources of animal protein comes from meat because it contains various kinds of nutrients needed by the body including protein, carbohydrates, water, vitamins, fats and various essential amino acids. The presence of high nutritional value in meat can also be utilized by various microorganisms to grow so that it can reduce the quality of meat. Some of these microorganisms can be transmitted to humans and cause disease or also known as zoonotic diseases. One way to prevent the growth of microorganisms in meat is by preserving meat using natural ingredients that can come from plants. One of the plants that has the potential to inhibit bacterial growth is Salam leaves (Eugenia polyantha, Weight.). The purpose of this study was to determine the value of the content in Salam Leaves (Eugenia polyantha, Weight.) and to determine the effect of giving Salam Leaf extract (Eugenia polyantha, Weight.) to early decay, pH value and Total Bacterial Colony. The study began with the collection of Salam leaves (Eugenia polyantha, Weight.) and then the extract was made. The extract obtained was then diluted and stored. The research was continued by taking meat samples from the Traditional Market in Surabaya and then cut into uniform sizes and soaked in Salam leaf extract with different concentrations. After incubation, the meat quality was tested for the beginning of spoilage, pH value and total bacterial colonies. The results of the observations showed that the best results were found in the P4 treatment with an extract concentration of 20%. This result is indicated by the lack of fog formed in the initial spoilage test, the pH value is close to the ultimate pH of the meat and a low total bacterial colony.
