Abstract

All health protocol policies must be adhered to during the current pandemic. This is because the number of people who die every day is skyrocketing due to the Covid-19 virus. The aim of this research is to explain local government policies in dealing with the pandemic ahead of the year-end holidays. The method I use in this research is a qualitative approach, through direct observation and interviews with the people of Kresek Village, Tempurejo, Kediri City. The city government of Kediri has issued a policy, especially Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), namely a ban on leaving the house to celebrate year-end holidays. This policy is strictly enforced so that all residents do not leave the house to celebrate the year-end holidays. The Kediri City Government recommends that every village maintain security at each post. Uniquely, the sanctions given in each town are different. In the Tempurejo area, if people go out to celebrate the end of the year, they are sanctioned to go around the village for 8 rounds. There is also a policy that if they want to go out of town but do not bring a health certificate and a health certificate, they must spend the night in the Kelurahan, for approx. 8 hours for quarantine. This policy is an initiative of the RT/RW, Kelurahan and Covid-19 cluster, especially in Tempurejo Village, to support the Kediri City Government's Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) efforts in reducing mortality and Covid-19 during the year-end holidays in the Kediri City area.

Abstract

Abstract

Population growth in Indonesia affects the number of private transportation owned by people in Indonesia. The tendency of Indonesian people to choose to use private transportation is what causes the increasing number of vehicles in Indonesia. Of course, if transportation ownership increases, the need for parking lots will also increase. In big cities, for example Surabaya, parking problems have been rampant and even flourished. Unscrupulous individuals who take advantage of the provision of parking lots have emerged, especially in places of commerce and also tourist attractions. In Surabaya City, regulations have actually been issued regarding the implementation of parking in Surabaya City, namely Surabaya City Regulation No. 3 of 2018. However, in its implementation it has not yet been implemented in accordance with existing regulations. This study aims to provide benefits to the community and government to be wiser in responding to the problem of extortion by illegal parking organizers and to create a better and more orderly city environment. Qualitative research methods are used in this study and using data sourced from literature studies. This study also uses symbolic interaction theory and structural functional theory. Both theories are used to examine how legal regulations can influence behavior, norms, and relationships between individuals in society. The results of this study explain that public perception of illegal parking and the legal regulations applied are still pros and cons. Some people consider illegal parking to be normal, but some people also consider illegal parking to be quite disturbing. The less than optimal implementation of legal regulations also encourages the proliferation of illegal parking in Ketintang Village, Surabaya City.

Abstract

This study analyzes legal injustice in Indonesia with a case study of Nenek Asyani, a poor woman who was accused of stealing seven teak logs belonging to Perhutani in Situbondo, East Java. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, this study explores the inequality in the application of the law between the poor and the elite, who often receive lighter legal treatment even though they are involved in major crimes such as corruption. Based on Aristotle's theory of justice and the perspective of the sociology of law, it is found that the legal system in Indonesia tends to be blunt at the top and sharp at the bottom, reinforcing structural injustice. This analysis highlights the importance of distributive and corrective justice in the context of fairer legal application. The results of this study provide recommendations for improving the legal system in Indonesia through a humanist and progressive approach, in order to create substantive justice for all levels of society.

Abstract

Radicalism is not a new face for the Gresik people. However, since its existence, radicalism has continued to exist as an element which has disturbed the stability of the social order in society. Therefore, it is necessary to have certain parties such as the Ministry of Religion of Gresik Regency who are able to ward off radicalism for the sake of equilibrium in the social order in society. This study aims to see the various efforts made by the Ministry of Religion of Gresik Regency in counteracting radicalism in Gresik Regency. Through the perspective of Social Action theory initiated by Max Weber, it will show the ratio pattern used by the Ministry of Religion of Gresik Regency in acting to counter radicalism. More than that, this research also uses qualitative methods by conducting direct interviews with the Ministry of Religion of Gresik Regency. Through interviews, it was found that efforts to counter radicalism by the Ministry of Religion of Gresik Regency were carried out by means of cooperation with certain parties. More than that, the Ministry of Religion of Gresik Regency also prioritizes a dialogical approach to groups indicated as radical in order to instill a more moderate mindset in these groups. Based on some of these efforts, it shows that the Ministry of Religion of Gresik Regency uses the Weber Instrumental Rationality pattern in its cooperation on several parties and also the use of Weber's Value Rationality in the orientation that it wants to achieve in an action

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of TikTok trends on the behaviorof female students (santriwati) at Pondok Pesantren Mamba’ul Ma’arif DenanyarJombang. As a social media platform for entertainment and creative expression,TikTok has a dual effect: it can positively enhance emotional well-being but alsocause dependency that disrupts learning and religious practices. This researchemploys a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing interviews and observationsto gain an accurate understanding of changes in the santriwati’s behavior. Theresults indicate that exposure to TikTok content inconsistent with Islamic valuesencourages the adoption of lifestyles and norms that contradict pesantrenteachings, hinders the development of religious knowledge, and weakens religiousnorms and values. The study applies consumer culture theory to explain theidentity formation process influenced by symbolic consumption from socialmedia content. Therefore, it is crucial for pesantren institutions and families tostrengthen digital literacy, supervision, and comprehensive religious education, enabling santriwati to use TikTok wisely without compromising Islamic values. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for managing social media usewithin pesantren environments.

Abstract

This study examines the Jodang tradition in Kenjo Village, Banyuwangi District, focusing on its cultural, social, and political dimensions. The tradition is held throughout the month commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad, during which villagers engage in nightly prayer rituals and distribute Jodang to their neighbors. The ritual serves to honor the Prophet through prayer, praise, and mosque decoration, with Jodang later consumed by the participants. This research employs a qualitative approach with an embedded single-case study design, using interviews, observation, and documentation as primary data collection methods. The analysis is framed by Max Weber’s theory of social action, which provides a lens to interpret how religious and cultural practices can intersect with political behavior. Weber’s typology of action, particularly traditional and value-rational actions helps explain the villagers’ motivations, while also revealing how instrumental rationality emerges in political appropriation of the ritual. Data were analyzed thematically to connect empirical findings with theoretical insights. However, the tradition has also taken on political significance. Politicians increasingly participate by sponsoring or distributing Jodang, using the event as a platform to strengthen their public image and maintain constituent support. As such, Jodang has evolved from a purely religious and cultural practice into a political instrument embedded within local community life.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a presidential government system with the president and deputy as the country's leaders. The head of state is responsible for regulating and establishing state policies for the better. The existence of a president and his deputy is elected through an election process. The presidential election in each region is certainly different from the various interesting phenomena in it such as in Gresik, which is famous for the nickname of the city of Santri. The purpose of this study was to determine the students' motives in Gresik in the presidential election in 2019. That is because in the 2014 presidential election in the Gresik region, Prabowo's candidate won a victory. However, in the 2019 presidential election Jokowi's candidate was the winner. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects in this study were students in the city of Gresik. Data collection instruments used in this study were in-depth interviews, literature study, and observation. The results of this study indicate that the voice change that occurred in the 2019 presidential election was due to the large influence of the vice president who was promoted by the Jokowi camp, Ma'ruf Amin because, it became a big consideration for the students in making choices. In addition, as Nahdliyin students there is a tradition in Islamic boarding schools to be obedient to their kiai.
