Abstract

Study purpose. This study was conducted to determine whether the Sport Education Model can improve volleyball learning outcomes among eighth-grade students. In many physical education classes, instruction still relies heavily on teacher-centered approaches, which often limit students’ active involvement. As a result, students may have fewer opportunities to develop both their skills and motivation. Materials and methods. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group setup. A total of 64 students from SMP Negeri 32 Padang participated in the research, with 32 students assigned to the experimental group and the remaining 32 placed in the control group. The study followed three main stages: pretest, treatment, and posttest. At the beginning, both groups were given a pretest to measure their initial abilities in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. The experimental group then received instruction through the Sport Education Model, which emphasizes teamwork, student roles, and game-based activities. The control group received traditional instruction that mainly relied on explanations and repetitive practice. After the treatment period, both groups were given a posttest. The collected data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. Results. The findings revealed that the experimental group showed greater progress compared to the control group. Improvements were seen in understanding, skill performance, and participation. Statistical testing confirmed that the difference between the two groups was significant. Conclusion. The Sport Education Model proved effective in enhancing volleyball learning outcomes. Approaches that encourage active participation and teamwork appear to provide better learning experiences and outcomes for students.

Abstract

This study aims investigated the effects of arm muscle power, leg muscle power, and hand–eye coordination on smash accuracy among male volleyball players at SMK Negeri 2 Kerinci. The research employed a quantitative design using path analysis to examine direct, indirect, and simultaneous relationships among variables. The population consisted of 30 male volleyball athletes, with total sampling applied. Arm muscle power was measured using the one-hand medicine ball put test, leg muscle power using the vertical jump test, hand–eye coordination using the ball werfen und fangen test, and smash accuracy through a standardized smash accuracy test. Data were analyzed using path analysis at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that arm muscle power, leg muscle power, and hand–eye coordination each had significant direct effects on smash accuracy, with hand–eye coordination contributing the strongest influence. In addition, arm and leg muscle power exerted significant indirect effects on smash accuracy through hand–eye coordination. Simultaneously, all variables explained a substantial proportion of variance in smash accuracy. These findings highlight the importance of integrating physical power and coordination training in volleyball instruction at the school level.

Abstract

Free-throw performance is a crucial skill in basketball, directly affecting scoring without defensive interference. This study systematically reviewed national and international literature (2018–2024) to examine physical, psychomotor, and psychological determinants of free-throw accuracy in youth players. Using a PRISMA-based approach and thematic synthesis, three core variables were analyzed: upper-limb explosive power, hand–eye coordination, and concentration. Findings indicate that upper-limb strength enhances elbow stability, release speed, and movement efficiency; hand–eye coordination improves visual-motor integration and shooting precision; and concentration supports motor control, emotional stability, and resistance to competitive pressure. These factors interact synergistically to enable consistent and accurate free throws. The review highlights the importance of integrated training programs combining physical conditioning, coordination drills, and mental skills practice for youth development. Results provide evidence-based guidance for coaches to design holistic interventions that optimize free-throw performance and contribute to long-term skill consistency in competitive basketball settings.

Abstract

Technical mastery of the Dollyo Chagi kick in martial arts learning is not solely determined by isolated physical abilities but emerges from the interaction of physical and psychological factors. Previous studies have predominantly examined flexibility, explosive power, and motivation separately, resulting in fragmented understanding of their combined role in technical skill development. This narrative review aims to synthesize and conceptualize the interrelated contributions of flexibility, lower-limb explosive power, and motivation in learning and executing the Dollyo Chagi kick. A qualitative narrative synthesis was conducted on peer-reviewed national and international literature published between 2018 and 2025, selected through purposive sampling. The findings indicate that flexibility functions as a biomechanical prerequisite enabling effective movement range and technical control, while explosive power acts as a performance amplifier that enhances kick speed and force when technical foundations are established. Motivation emerges as a psychological mediator that sustains training engagement and supports consistent skill acquisition. This review highlights the need for an integrated training and pedagogical approach, providing a conceptual framework to inform future empirical research and evidence-based coaching in martial arts education.

Abstract

The problem in this research was motivated by the low awareness of PSFC futsal athletes about the importance of maintaining fluid balance in the body so that the body is always euhydrated (good) and avoids the risk of dehydration which results in impaired concentration due to lack of fluids. This study aims to determine the effect of hydration status on concentration using a hydration protocol approach in PSFC futsal athletes in the city of Bengkalis. This type of research is an experiment with a pre-experimental research design. One group pre-test post-test research design. The instrument used to measure concentration is the Grid Concentration Test. The total population is 30 people. The sample in the study was 15 futsal athletes at general level. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using Microsoft Excel. The results of research and analysis carried out by researchers show that the hydration protocol directly affects concentration, with a sig value of 0.000 < 0.05. With the concentration test results from 33% the euhydration status was moderate to 73% with an average of very good results.

Abstract

The study investigates the critical role of carbohydrate intake in maintaining glycogen stores and enhancing physical performance during prolonged exercise. The primary aim is to evaluate how carbohydrate consumption influences glycogen levels and athletic performance, focusing on intake types and timing. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive research model, the study conducts an extensive literature review, involving a thorough search of scientific databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Specific keywords like "Carbohydrates," "Glycogen Stores," and "Prolonged Exercise" guide the search for relevant articles. These articles are analyzed to extract and synthesize information on the relationship between carbohydrate intake and glycogen reserves during extended physical activities. The findings highlight that a daily carbohydrate intake of 6-12 g/kg body weight is essential for optimal glycogen levels and performance. Simple carbohydrates and fructose-glucose mixtures are particularly effective in enhancing recovery. Additionally, carbohydrate loading before intense exercise significantly improves glycogen stores and endurance performance. The study concludes that while adequate carbohydrate intake is vital for sustaining performance and facilitating recovery, further research is needed to explore the long-term effects and individual variations in carbohydrate nutrition strategies. This includes examining diverse exercise types, athlete profiles, and the interplay between carbohydrates and other dietary components
