Abstract

AbstrakSwamedikasi merupakan salah satu cara masyarakat untuk mengatasi keluhan penyakit yang tergolong ringan. Tren ini semakin meningkat selama pandemi COVID-19 berlangsung seiring dengan adanya berbagai aturan pembatasan yang membuat hampir seluruh lapisan masyarakat membatasi kegiatan di luar rumah. Sangat penting untuk masyarakat memiliki pengetahuan yang memadai, baik tentang obat modern dan tradisional, untuk menjamin efektivitas obat sehingga kesembuhan atau perbaikan kesehatan yang diharapkan dapat tercapai. Berdasar hal tersebut diselenggarakan  pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam bentuk penyuluhan guna meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai swamedikasi obat modern dan tradisional. Penyuluhan berbasis online dengan metode ceramah dan diskusi melalui webinar melibatkan 305 peserta dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Penilaian pemahaman masyarakat melalui pre-test sebelum dan post-test setelah materi webinar diberikan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat umum meningkat signifikan (p < 0,05) yang ditandai dengan nilai rata-rata pre-test sebesar 54,47 dan nilai rata-rata post-test sebesar 74,89. Sama halnya dengan tingkat pengetahuan tenaga kefarmasian juga meningkat signifikan (p < 0,05) dengan nilai rata-rata pre-test sebesar 75,15 dan nilai rata-rata post-test sebesar 86,59. Berdasar hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berpengaruh terhadap tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat umum dan tenaga kefarmasian mengenai obat modern dan tradisional sehingga dapat menjamin efektivitas pengobatan dan didapatkan mutu kesehatan yang maksimal. Kata kunci: COVID-19; kesehatan masyarakat; obat modern; obat tradisional. AbstractSelf-medication is one way for the community to deal with complaints of ailments that are classified as mild. This trend has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic along with various restrictions that have made almost all levels of society restrict activities outside the home. It is very important for the community to have adequate knowledge, both about modern and traditional medicine, to ensure the effectiveness of the drug so that the expected recovery or health improvement can be achieved. Based on this main problem, the author provides community service in the form of counseling to increase public understanding regarding modern and traditional drug self-medication. Online-based counseling using lecture and discussion methods via webinars involved 305 participants from various regions in Indonesia. Assessment of public understanding through pre-test before and post-test after the webinar material was given. The results of the analysis show that the level of knowledge of the general public has increased significantly (p < 0.05) as indicated by the average pre-test score of 54.47 and the average post-test score of 74.89. Likewise, the level of knowledge of pharmaceutical staff also increased significantly (p < 0.05) with an average pre-test score of 75.15 and an average post-test score of 86.59. Based on these results, it can be concluded that this community service influences the level of knowledge of the general public and pharmaceutical staff regarding modern and traditional medicine so that it can guarantee the effectiveness of treatment and obtain maximum health quality. Keywords: COVID-19; public health; modern medicine; traditional medicine.

Abstract

AbstrakDesa Pandansari mempunyai potensi hasil pertanian melimpah terutama mengkudu, kelor, jahe, sereh dan jambu biji. Permasalahan yang terjadi adalah hasil panen yang tidak terserap di pasaran yang akan menjadi limbah karena belum dimanfaatkan dengan baik. Pengolahan hasil pertanian menjadi pangan fungsional menjadi peluang karena dapat meningkatkan nilai tambah dan nilai manfaat dari produk tersebut untuk kesehatan terutama bagi penduduk usia lanjut. Tim dosen Fakultas Farmasi UNAIR dengan keahlian dan kompetensi keilmuan yang dimiliki memanfaatkan aneka hasil sumber daya alam itu menjadi produk yang bernilai tinggi. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pegetahuan dan ketrampilan tentang manfaat hasil pertanian dan bagaiamana mengolahnya menjadi pangan fungsioanal. Tim PkM bekerjasama dengan PKK, Kader Kesehatan dan badan relawan kebakaran dan kebencanaan (BALAKARCANA). Kegiatan dilakukan Minggu, 6 Agustus 2023 di balai desa Pandansari dengan peserta 32 orang. Materi yang disampaikan adalah cara memanfaatkan sumber daya alam , cara memanfaatkan buah atau tanaman herbal yang sudah dipanen dan cara mengemas produk. Untuk praktek yang diberikan adalah beberapa produk hasil inovasi yaitu pembuatan stik daun kelor, simplisia kering mengkudu, jus jambu biji dan sirup jahe plus. Dari hasil pre dan post test, didapatkan bahwa skor rata-rata meningkat dari 63,5 menjadi 77,9. Hal tersebut menunjukkan terjadi penambahan pengetahuan saat dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Saat pelaksanaan peserta terlihat antusias dalam mengikuti praktik, mereka berharap pelatihan seperti ini sering dilakukan supaya semakin banyak warga yang mengetahui bahwa tanaman yang dapat dimanfaatkan terutama untuk pendukung kesehatan lansia. Kata Kunci : lansia; obat tradisional; olahan pangan; pelatihan AbstractPandansari Village has the potential for abundant agricultural products, especially noni, moringa, ginger, lemongrass and guava. The problem that occurs is that the harvest is not absorbed in the market which will become waste because it has not been utilized properly. Processing agricultural products into functional food is an opportunity because it can increase the added value and beneficial value of these products for health, especially for the elderly population. UNAIR Faculty of Pharmacy lecturer team with their expertise and scientific competence utilizes various natural resources into high-value products. This community service activity aims to provide knowledge and skills about the benefits of agricultural products and how to process them into functional food. The PkM team collaborated with PKK, Health Cadres and the fire and disaster volunteer body (BALAKARCANA). The activity was held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Pandansari village hall with 32 participants. The material presented was how to utilize natural resources, how to utilize harvested fruit or herbal plants and how to package products. For the practice given are some innovative products, namely the making of moringa leaf sticks, dried noni dried simplisia, guava juice and ginger plus syrup. From the pre and post test results, it was found that the average score increased from 63.5 to 77.9. This shows that there is an increase in knowledge when community service activities are carried out. During the implementation, the participants seemed enthusiastic in participating in the practice, they hoped that training like this was often carried out so that more and more residents knew that plants could be utilized, especially for supporting the health of the elderly..Keywords: elderly; traditional medicine; food processing; training

Abstract

Abstract Health is a condition of physical, mental, spiritual, and social prosperity that allows a person to live a productive life (Law No. 36/2009). Knowledge of drugs is important for the public to avoid the use of counterfeit and illegal drugs, which according to the WHO includes drugs without active ingredients, different ingredients, or with strength that does not match the label. The Community Service Program has been carried out to increase public knowledge, primarily through the role of women, about the dosage form, packaging, safety, and stability of drugs. The activity was carried out using a lecture and discussion method and involved 45 participants from 17 women's organizations in the Magetan area. The results showed that this program succeeded in increasing participants' understanding of drug dosage form, packaging, safety, and stability. This activity also received a positive response from the participants and was reported by local media. The community service program successfully increased the community's knowledge and understanding of drugs and drug stability, thus strengthening SDGs 3. Abstract

Kelurahan Gisting Atas, Kecamatan Gisting, Kabupaten Tanggamus, Provinsi Lampung merupakan kawasan dataran tinggi yang dikenal memiliki potensi pertanian kopi yang subur. Meskipun produksi kopi di wilayah ini terus meningkat, namun pendapatan masyarakat belum mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah kurangnya kreativitas dalam mengolah limbah kulit ari kopi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh tim pengabdi Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Airlangga bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat setempat melalui pelatihan pembuatan produk berbasis kopi, seperti clay mask dan body scrub yang dapat meningkatkan nilai jual kopi dan membuka peluang usaha baru. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga meliputi penyuluhan tentang cara penyimpanan kopi yang benar guna menjaga kualitas dan daya jual kopi yang lebih tinggi. Pelatihan diikuti oleh 40 petani kopi dari Kelompok Tani Hutan Wira Karya Sejahtera 1 dengan evaluasi pemahaman peserta melalui pre-test dan post-test. Nilai pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan peserta tentang penyimpanan dan pengolahan kopi. Hasil ini menjadi indikator awal kemampuan petani kopi dalam mengurangi ketergantungan pada penjualan kopi mentah sehingga mampu meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat dan mendorong diversifikasi produk kopi yang lebih inovatif. Program ini mendukung upaya Pemerintah Provinsi Lampung dalam meningkatkan perekonomian daerah dan mendukung pencapaian tujuan berkelanjutan, khususnya kesehatan yang baik, kesejahteraan, serta pertumbuhan ekonomi yang inklusif dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Background: Hydrolyzed collagen is a protein obtained from enzymatic denaturation of collagen with a molecular weight of about 10 kDa, and it has been reported to produce anti-aging properties. Delivering hydrolyzed collagen into the dermis becomes a great challenge due to its large molecular weight, so glycerosome, a deformable vesicle containing glycerol as the edge activator, was developed to carry it into the dermis layer. Objective: The study aimed to determine the effect of increasing the concentration of glycerol and hydrolyzed collagen on the characteristics and stability of hydrolyzed collagen glycerosomes. Methods: Glycerosomes were composed of soy lecithin and prepared using a thin film lipid method. The lipid film was hydrated with phosphate-buffered saline pH 5 containing different glycerol concentrations (20% and 40%) and hydrolyzed collagen (2.5% and 5%). Then, characteristic tests and stability tests were carried out. Results: Hydrolyzed collagen glycerosomes had vesicle sizes of 170-180 nm, polydispersity index of 0.253-0.279, zeta potential values of -23.70 to -26.50 mV with deformability indexes of 2.25-3.49. The highest percentage of entrapment efficiency was 85.72%, achieved with a glycerol concentration of 40%. During the stability test at 25°C for 12 weeks, the hydrolyzed collagen glycerosomes did not experience pH and entrapment efficiency changes, but it increased the vesicle size. Conclusion: The use of 40% glycerol produced more deformable vesicles than 20% glycerol in hydrolyzed collagen glycerosomes; however, a formula improvement is required to improve the stability of glycerosomes.

Abstract

Background: Allergic diseases represent a significant global health burden, and current pharmacological treatments primarily offer symptomatic relief without addressing the underlying immune dysregulation. Allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) is the only disease-modifying approach capable of inducing long-term remission by targeting the immunological mechanisms that drive the allergic response. Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is a noninvasive alternative to subcutaneous immunotherapy, leveraging the rich vascularisation and antigen-presenting cell population of the oral mucosa. Objective: SLIT tablets were formulated using Indonesian house dust mite (IHDM) allergenic extracts, with the aim of optimising tablet properties by modulating the disintegrant concentration and croscarmellose-to-crospovidone ratios. Methods: Six formulations, each with three batches, were prepared via direct compression, varying the total disintegrant content (5.25 and 10.5% w/w) and excipient ratios. The tablets were evaluated for hardness, disintegration time, friability, and dissolution, and specific allergenic protein release (Der p 1 as a marker) was quantified using ELISA. A 2 × 3 factorial experimental design was used in the DoE approach, with data analysed using GraphPad Prism and Minitab, and response surface methodology (RSM) applied via Stat-Ease 360. Results: Higher disintegrant concentrations reduced tablet hardness but increased friability and disintegration rates. Pareto analysis revealed that both the total disintegrant content and disintegrant ratio significantly influenced tablet performance. All formulations demonstrated favourable dissolution profiles. The optimised formulation (F2), containing 5.25% (w/w) total disintegrants with a croscarmellose-to-crospovidone ratio of 1.5:2, achieved a disintegration time of 4.33 ± 0.88 s, hardness of 89.20 ± 6.12 N, and friability of 0.00 ± 0.01 %. Conclusion: These findings support the potential of IHDM-based SLIT tablets as an effective and mechanistically rational platform for allergen immunotherapy, contributing not only to symptoms but also to long-term modification of allergic diseases

Abstract

Abstrak: Pemahaman masyarakat tentang obat termasuk cara mendapatkan, menggunakan, menyimpan dan membuang serta penggunaan suplemen makanan masih perlu mendapat perhatian khusus, terutama untuk masyarakat perifer. Peran apoteker dibutuhkan dalam mengedukasi masyarakat dengan melibatkan gerakan Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK). Tujuan PKM ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang obat dan suplemen makanan kepada masyarakat dengan memberdayakan PKK. Tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Airlangga telah menyelenggarakan kegiatan bakti sosial bersama-sama IAI dan kader PKK di Kota Madya Tuban dalam bentuk penyuluhan atau sosialisasi terkait obat dan suplemen makanan. Sosialisasi dilakukan melalui Webinar via Zoom Meeting dalam bentuk seminar dan diskusi interaktif, karena aktivitas pengabdian dilaksanakan saat pandemi Covid-19. Sebagai mitra pada pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah Kader PKK dan Ketua Ikatan Apoteker Indonesia (IAI) Cabang Tuban dengan jumlah peserta yang hadir sejumlah 71 orang. Hasil evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan bahwa setelah mengikuti kegiatan rerata pemahaman peserta meningkat 7,04% dan 12,7% masing-masing untuk materi DAGUSIBU dan Probiotik. Diharapkan PKK secara aktif menyebar-luaskan kegiatan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat di seluruh desa.Abstract: Public understanding of medicines, including how to obtain, use, store and dispose of them as well as the use of food supplements, still needs special attention, especially for peripheral communities. The role of pharmacists is needed in educating the public by involving the Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK) movement. The aim of this PKM is to increase knowledge about medicines and food supplements among the community by empowering PKK. The community service team at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University has held social service activities together with IAI and PKK cadres in Tuban in the form of counseling or outreach regarding medicines and food supplements. Socialization was carried out through Webinar via Zoom Meeting in the form of seminars and interactive discussions, because service activities were carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic. As partners in this community service were PKK cadres and the Chair of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) in Tuban city with a total of 71 participants attending. The evaluation results via pre-test and post-test showed that after participating in the activity the participants' average understanding increased by 7.04% and 12.7% for DAGUSIBU and Probiotic material, respectively. It is hoped that the PKK will actively spread outreach activities to communities throughout the village.

Abstract

Turmeric is a herbal remedy with a million benefits that has been used by Indonesians for centuries. Tenaru Village, one of the villages, produces a lot of turmeric annually in Gresik Regency. However, this turmeric is sold only as a cash crop or a simple product at a low price. This program aims to provide training for Tenaru village farmers to create innovative turmeric-based products to increase their selling value. Furthermore, this program aims to increase participants' understanding of safe food packaging as part of safe, high-quality food products. The program's success was evaluated quantitatively, showing a statistically significant increase in pre- and post-test scores. The qualitative assessment using Bloom's taxonomy analysis showed an increase in participants' abilities, from not knowing to being able to teach other people in that village. This indicates that the program has had a significant impact on participants' ability to develop innovative turmeric-based instant beverage products.
