Abstract

This study was conducted in response to the low.learning outcomes of fifth-grade students on.the topic of perimeter and area of quadrilaterals at SDN 20 Berok Gunung Pangilun, caused by teacher-centered instruction and the limited use of effective learning models and media, which reduced student engagement and understanding. To address this issue, the Problem.Based Learning (PBL) model was implemented to promote active participation and develop students’ problem-solving skills, supported by Baamboozle as an interactive game-based learning medium to create a more engaging classroom environment. The purpose.of this study was to describe the improvement of students’ learning outcomes through the.application of the PBL model assisted by Baamboozle. This research employed Classroom.Action Research (CAR) with qualitative and quantitative.approaches conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages, involving 27 students. The results showed consistent improvement, with lesson planning (RPPM) increasing from 85% in cycle.I meeting 1 to 90% in meeting.2 and remaining stable at 90% in cycle II. Teacher.performance improved.from 87,5% to 89,28% and reached 96,42% in cycle II, while student activity increased from 85% to 89,28% and reached 96,42%. Students’ learning outcomes also improved, achieving an average score of 85,04 with.a mastery.level of 85,19% in cycle.II, indicating that the implementation of PBL assisted by Baamboozle effectively enhances learning quality and.outcomes.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to examine the effect of implementing the Problem-Based Learning model supported by Canva-based animated videos on fourth-grade students’ learning outcomes in plane geometry. Methodology: This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the nonequivalent control group design. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, consisting of fourth-grade students from State Elementary School 15 Simarasok as the experimental group 27 students and State Elementary School 03 Sungai Angek as the control group 27 students. The research instrument was a multiple-choice objective test. Main Findings: The analysis results showed that the mean score of the experimental group was 72.86, while the control group scored 60.03. The hypothesis test using an independent samples t-test indicated a significance value of 0.006 < 0.05 and a t-value greater than the t-table (2.850 > 2.00665). Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model supported by Canva-based animated videos has a significant effect on fourth-grade students’ learning outcomes in plane geometry. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study lies in the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model combined with Canva-based animated videos in teaching plane geometry. This approach promotes contextual, interactive, and visual learning to address the abstract nature of the material, thereby improving students’ engagement, conceptual understanding, and learning outcomes at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study addresses the low science achievement of third-grade students at SDN 21 Bandar Buat, which is associated with a largely teacher-centered instructional approach, limited student engagement, and the inadequate use of observation and experimental activities in the learning process. These conditions result in students being passive, less confident in asking questions, and struggling to understand concepts independently, which in turn leads to unsatisfactory learning outcomes and insufficient development of critical thinking skills. Moreover, classroom practices have not been fully aligned with the expectations of the Independent Curriculum. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the improvement of student learning outcomes on the topic of changes in the states of matter through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in a third-grade classroom. This study employs a Classroom Action Research design, integrating both qualitative and quantitative approaches, and is conducted in two cycles. The first cycle consists of two meetings, while the second cycle includes one meeting, following stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research instruments include observation sheets for lesson planning (RPPM), teacher and student activities, as well as assessment rubrics covering attitudes, knowledge, and skills. The participants consist of one teacher and 24 students. The results reveal consistent improvements in all observed aspects, including lesson planning, teacher and student activities, and overall learning outcomes, confirming the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model.

Abstract

This research aims to identify various challenges in teaching Citizenship Education (PKn) in elementary schools and propose solutions to overcome common obstacles in the learning process. The study employs a literature review approach, analyzing various sources such as scholarly articles, journals, and relevant documents. Data collection methods include literature review, listening techniques, and note-taking. The findings indicate several issues in PKn learning at the elementary level, including: (1) teachers’ limited understanding of appropriate learning models aligned with 21st-century education demands, (2) insufficient use of instructional media tailored to students’ characteristics, (3) inadequate supporting facilities such as books and other learning resources, and (4) student learning difficulties influenced by both internal and external factors. This study concludes that implementing innovative learning models, integrating technology into the teaching and learning process, and adopting more flexible and interactive strategies are essential to enhancing the effectiveness of PKn instruction in elementary schools. Moreover, effective communication between teachers, students, and schools plays a crucial role in improving learning quality.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze literature related to solutions for dealing with Human Rights (HAM) violations in the school environment through the implementation of the Human Rights Friendly School (SR-HAM) model. The method used in writing this article is literature study. A Human Rights Friendly School is a school concept that integrates human rights values ​​as a core principle in school management and organization, where human rights values ​​are at the center of the learning process and student experience and are present in all aspects of school life. The SR-HAM concept approach combined with Ki Hadjar Dewantara's educational concept is expected to be able to provide effective solutions in dealing with various human rights problems in schools. Although the concept of Human Rights Friendly Schools initiated by Amnesty International and Ki Hadjar Dewantara conceptually supports the achievement of national education goals, its implementation needs to be carried out correctly and appropriately in order to provide the best results.

Abstract

Pendidikan adalah elemen mendasar bagi manusia yang memiliki peranan signifikan dalam kehidupan dalam mencerdaskan masyarakat dan memperkuat bangsa. Di Indonesia, sistem pendidikan formal terdiri dari tiga jenjang: dasar, menengah, dan tinggi. Namun, di tingkat dasar, khususnya kelas awal, sering terjadi kesulitan pembelajaran terutama dalam kemampuan baca, tulis dan hitung (calistung). Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi kesulitan calistung pada siswa kelas I, II, dan III di SD Negeri 06 Payakumbuh. Menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan guru kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 25% siswa kelas I, 50% siswa kelas II, dan 25% siswa kelas III mengalami kesulitan calistung. Faktor penyebabnya terdiri dari faktor internal seperti kondisi kesehatan dan kemampuan fonologis, serta faktor eksternal seperti kurangnya perhatian orang tua dan lingkungan belajar yang tidak mendukung. Program literasi dan pembelajaran tambahan merupakan sebuah upaya yang dilakukan oleh guru dan sekolah teteapi belum menunjukkan hasil optimal. Oleh karena itu, keterlibatan aktif orang tua dan dukungan lingkungan sangat diperlukan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan calistung siswa. Penelitian ini diharapkan memberikan wawasan kepada pendidik dan orang tua dalam mengatasi masalah pembelajaran di Sekolah Dasar.

Abstract

Rendahnya keterlibatan dan hasil belajar matematika pada materi bangun datar menuntut pembelajaran yang menghubungkan masalah kontekstual, kerja kelompok, dan umpan balik cepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan peningkatan kualitas Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran Mendalam (RPPM), aktivitas guru dan peserta didik, serta hasil belajar melalui Problem-Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan Quizizz. Penelitian tindakan kelas kolaboratif dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dan tiga pertemuan pada 28 peserta didik kelas III SDN 16 Air Tawar Timur, Kota Padang. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan rubrik pengamatan RPPM, lembar observasi aktivitas guru dan peserta didik, jurnal sikap, tes pengetahuan, serta rubrik keterampilan. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif melalui reduksi-refleksi kualitatif dan perhitungan persentase kuantitatif. Kualitas RPPM meningkat dari 70,00% pada pertemuan pertama menjadi 85,00% pada pertemuan kedua dan 92,50% pada siklus II. Aktivitas guru meningkat dari 71,40% menjadi 96,42%, sedangkan aktivitas peserta didik meningkat dari 75,00% menjadi 96,42%. Rata-rata pengetahuan naik dari kondisi awal 63,82 menjadi 88,03, dan ketuntasan klasikal meningkat dari 25,00% menjadi 85,71%. Sikap mencapai 84,34% dan keterampilan 86,60% pada siklus II. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Problem Based Learning berbantuan Quizizz dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar Murid pada pembelajaran Matematika kelas III SDN 16 Air Tawar Timur. The low level of student engagement and mathematics learning outcomes in plane figure topics requires learning approaches that integrate contextual problems, collaborative activities, and immediate feedback. This study aims to describe the improvement of the quality of Deep Learning Lesson Plans (Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran Mendalam/RPPM), teacher and student activities, and learning outcomes through the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) assisted by Quizizz. This collaborative classroom action research was conducted in two cycles consisting of three meetings involving 28 third-grade students at SDN 16 Air Tawar Timur, Padang City. Data were collected using RPPM observation rubrics, teacher and student activity observation sheets, attitude journals, knowledge tests, and skill assessment rubrics. The data were analyzed descriptively through qualitative reduction-reflection analysis and quantitative percentage calculations. The quality of RPPM improved from 70.00% in the first meeting to 85.00% in the second meeting and reached 92.50% in Cycle II. Teacher activity increased from 71.40% to 96.42%, while student activity increased from 75.00% to 96.42%. The average knowledge score increased from the initial condition of 63.82 to 88.03, and classical mastery improved from 25.00% to 85.71%. Students’ attitudes reached 84.34%, and their skills achieved 86.60% in Cycle II. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by Quizizz effectively improves students’ mathematics learning outcomes in third-grade mathematics learning at SDN 16 Air Tawar Timur.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of students' problem-solving ability in mathematics learning, especially based on real-world problems. The main cause is that students still have problems in understanding the meaning and finding the core of the given problem. The objectives of this study to determine the modified Triangle Method (TM) with Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) to improv students' ability in problem-solving and also its interaction with prior knowledge. This type of research is experimental design with a sample of 69 students grade VIII in West Sumatera, Indonesia. The data were obtained by giving the test, which was evaluated by t-test and two-way ANOVA. Based on the result test, obtained a t-value of 4.488 with the Sig.=0.000<0.05= α. It can be concluded that the modified of TM and CTL can improve students' problem-solving ability. Meanwhile, the interaction test obtained Sig.0.467>0.05=α. In other words, there is no interaction between CTL and students' prior knowledge of problem-solving skills. It means that TM and CTL can be used for students with high and low prior knowledge to improve students' problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of daily journal assignments in improving elementary school students' writing skills. By using qualitative research methods through a library research approach, various literature and previous research results were studied comprehensively. The research results show that daily journal assignments have a significant positive impact on improving students' writing skills, which include linguistic aspects, idea development, writing coherence, and self-expression. This research also identified several supporting factors for the successful implementation of daily journals, such as consistency of assignments, clear guidelines, quality feedback, and support from the learning environment. The findings of this research provide practical implications for educators in developing effective writing learning strategies at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of GeoGebra as a learning media on students' spatial ability in learning solid geometry at the elementary school level. This research employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a posttest-only control design. The participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group taught using GeoGebra and a control group taught using conventional methods. The instrument used was an essay test that had been validated and tested for reliability. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental group (77.38) was higher than that of the control group (60.38). Hypothesis testing using a t-test indicated a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), which means that GeoGebra has a significant effect on students' spatial ability. Therefore, GeoGebra can be considered an effective learning media to improve spatial ability in learning solid geometry.
