Abstract

Improper storage and disposal of medications at home can reduce drug quality, pose risks of poisoning, and contribute to environmental pollution. However, public knowledge remains low, as only 16.1% of respondents demonstrated good understanding of proper storage, and 52.6% lacked awareness of safe disposal methods. Education is considered a key factor in improving health literacy related to medication management. This study aimed to examine the relationship between educational level and knowledge of medication storage and disposal among outpatients at RSI Sunan Kudus. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach, involving 392 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and Spearman Rank correlation. The majority of respondents were female (71.4%), aged 26–45 years (47.2%), had a senior high school/vocational education (53.8%), and were employed in the private sector (56.9%). Most respondents had moderate knowledge regarding storage (55.4%) and disposal (44.6%) of medications. A significant relationship was found between education level and knowledge of both storage (r = 0.532; p < 0.001) and disposal (r = 0.610; p < 0.001). More intensive education by pharmaceutical staff is recommended.

Abstract

Integrated disaster mitigation education was first developed in Sendai, Japan, with the aim of creating disaster-resilient schools. This approach emphasizes active community involvement and employs a bottom-up method that integrates local wisdom, scientific approaches, and student centered active learning. Teachers play a crucial role in designing learning activities based on local cultural values. However, its implementation in the field remains limited and is still largely dominated by conventional natural science approaches. Therefore, government initiatives particularly from the Ministry of Religious Affairs are needed to develop a disaster mitigation curriculum rooted in local values, especially at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary school) level. This study aims to explore the Islamic spiritual values embedded in the Kasada ritual of the Tengger community, which are relevant to disaster mitigation efforts related to the volcanic activity of Mount Bromo. The research was conducted at MI Muhammadiyah Pendil in Probolinggo Regency, involving traditional leaders, educators, and madrasa supervisors. The approach used is qualitative-interpretative with a grounded theory methodology. The expected outcome is the development of a disaster mitigation learning model that integrates Islamic spiritual values and Kasada cultural traditions into the school curriculum, along with teacher training programs to strengthen their capacity to deliver disaster education grounded in spirituality and local wisdom.

Abstract

This study examines how educative da’wah can effectively shape the religious character of children in madrasahs, particularly through the Community Service Program (KKN) in Sumberbendo. It addresses the increasing need for formal religious education that goes beyond teaching rituals or religious laws, focusing on developing strong spiritual and moral values from an early age. Educative da’wah is understood as an approach that combines clear communication, creativity, and local relevance, believed to be effective in instilling values such as honesty, responsibility, social care, and tolerance. Employing a qualitative case study method, this research includes direct participatory observation, in-depth interviews with madrasah teachers, religious leaders, parents, and students, as well as documentation of KKN activities. Data analysis uses thematic coding to identify factors supporting or hindering the implementation of educative da’wah and its impact on children's religious character development. The findings indicate that educative da’wah, through joint worship practices, value-based educational games, and contextually relevant religious discussions, enhances children's religious awareness and fosters tolerance, empathy, and discipline. However, challenges such as inadequate facilities, diverse family religious backgrounds, and limited time are noted as significant obstacles to optimal implementatio.

Abstract

This study examines the role of spiritual branding in determining the position of Islamic educational institutions in the digital era, focusing on SMAI Miftahul Arifin in Probolinggo. In the face of rapid technological developments, many Islamic educational institutions have difficulty utilizing digital platforms to convey their religious values. This study aims to investigate how SMAI Miftahul Arifin can utilize digital branding strategies to strengthen their image as an institution that prioritizes spiritual values. The method used is a mix-method, which combines qualitative approaches through case studies and quantitative with surveys to obtain a picture of public perception. The findings of the study indicate that although SMAI Miftahul Arifin has potential in spiritual branding, they have not succeeded in conveying these values optimally through digital media. This study recommends that SMAI Miftahul Arifin develop a more structured and creative digital strategy, by creating more authentic and relevant content for their audiences, especially the younger generation. Overall, the results of this study confirm that the use of appropriate digital branding can strengthen SMAI Miftahul Arifin's position as an Islamic educational institution based on religious values amidst digital competition.

Abstract

Religious traditions are integral to character education and the preservation of cultural values. This study examines the haul (annual commemoration) of Abuya Uci in Pasar Kemis, Tangerang, as a medium for shaping religious character and preserving local cultural heritage. The annual event at Al-Istiqlaliyah Islamic Boarding School in Cilongok attracts tens of thousands of attendees, facilitating socio-religious interaction. The gap identified in this study is the lack of research on religious commemorations as tools for character education and cultural preservation. Using a library research approach, this study highlights how the haul of Kiai Uci transmits values like humility (tawadhu’), service (khidmah), love of knowledge, and social solidarity. The results suggest that the haul is more than a ritual; it serves as a hidden curriculum for character education and a strategic tool for preserving cultural heritage. It underscores the role of the kiai as a guardian of values, even posthumously.

Abstract

eading comprehension is a critical skill in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning. However, many Indonesian junior high school students face persistent challenges in this area, primarily due to low motivation, lack of engagement, and the continued use of conventional instructional methods. These issues underscore the need for innovative pedagogical strategies that align with learners’ interests and digital habits. This study investigates the effect of digital gamification on students’ reading comprehension using a narrative-based video game titled “I Got This: An Interactive Story” as a digital medium in the learning process. The gamification was implemented without the use of specialized platforms, as game elements were manually integrated by the researcher. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving 60 eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Tarokan, who were assigned to the experiment group and control group through purposive sampling. The experiment group received instruction through a gamified video game incorporating points, levels, leaderboards, badges, and rewards, while the control group was taught using conventional methods. Both groups completed a pre-test and post-test consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions based on narrative texts. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test due to non-normal distribution. The results showed a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.002), with the experimental group demonstrating greater improvement in reading comprehension. These findings highlight the pedagogical value of narrative-driven digital gamification and offer implications for educators and curriculum designers seeking to modernize reading instruction in alignment with the digital habits of 21st-century learners.

Abstract

The background to the creation of Leininger's theory, through observations when she worked as a nurse, she identified that there was still a lack of knowledge about culture and care as components needed when caring for patients. Patient care is intended to support compliance, healing, and health which led him to develop the Transcultural Nursing theory. Transcultural Nursing is also known as Culture Care Theory. Nursing theory became a major theme in the last century, and continues today to increase the growth and expansion of professional and phenomenal nursing literature and education. In the early twentieth century, nursing was not recognized as an academic discipline or profession. The achievements of the past century have led to the recognition of nursing in both disciplines and professions. The terms discipline and profession are related, and in some cases can even be used interchangeably, but they are not the same. Nursing theoretical works represent the most comprehensive presentation of systematic nursing knowledge. Therefore, nursing theoretical work is important for the future of the discipline and profession of nursing. This conceptual model comes from the fields of anthropology and nursing. Leininger defines transcultural nursing as a major area of nursing that focuses on the comparative study and analysis of various cultures and subcultures throughout the world by considering values, beliefs, health and illness, and habit patterns. The aim of this theory is to find various ways of caring for clients and universal relations between worldview, social structure, other dimensions, then find a path that is appropriate for different people with the aim of maintaining health, or facing death with a cultural approach.

Abstract

This paper presents the online teaching practice program that influence EFL pre-service teachers’ (PSTs) emotional experiences as the pre-cursor of their professional identity construction. This study involved six   PSTs enrolled teaching practice program in an initial teacher education. Dialogic reflection before, during, and after teaching enactment was employed to dig up information about their emotional experiences in an online classroom setting. The data were analyzed using appraisal analysis (Martin and White, 2007) and thematic analysis. The results document negative emotional experiences such as feeling dissatisfaction, doubtful, and confusion which lead to positive emotional experiences, such as caring. Factors that influence PS Ts’ emotional experiences in online teaching practice are lack of Curriculum Knowledge (CrK), lack of subject-matter knowledge or Content Knowledge (CK), and lack of Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) in terms of assessing students’ competence, and the interlink between theory and practice. All PS Ts develop a good understanding of how to exploit technological tools by encouraging their self-concept. This study substantiates the importance of shared-space coaching for teacher mentors before they become an escort for PSTs who are going to be professional teacher mentors.
