Abstract

Abstract

Renewable energy, being environmentally friendly, needs to see increased utilisation due to the detrimental effects of fossil fuel usage on human life. The government has promoted the Energy Transition programme, yet the adoption of renewable energy remains limited, primarily due to financing challenges and the economic viability of projects. The government cannot tackle this alone; it requires the support of financing schemes backed by social funds from the community. In this regard, aligning with the objectives of Shariah (maqasid shariah), the role of Islamic Social Finance can be enhanced within the concept of Islamic Blended Finance to fund renewable energy projects that have social and environmental impacts. The aim of this paper is to develop the role of Islamic Social Finance within Islamic Blended Finance and the necessary regulations, making it a feasible financing scheme that can offer an alternative solution to the funding challenges faced by renewable energy projects. Previous research is limited due to the relative novelty of the topic. This study employs a mixed-methodology approach, incorporating literature review supported by secondary data, as well as primary data from interviews with competent informants.

Abstract

The management of Hajj funds must be done effectively using a rigorous standardized risk management approach. This study aims to create a Hajj fund management model using Islamic financial instruments through the optimal portfolio method and strategic asset allocation. The model was built using historical data from 2010–2022, involving Islamic deposits, government sukuk (SBSN), corporate sukuk, and Islamic stocks, which were analyzed with the Markowitz portfolio equation in Excel Solver. The result showed that the optimal portfolio yields an 8.50% expected return with a 4.00% risk; strategic asset allocation produces an 8.25% return with a 2.99% risk. The policy implication of this research is the need to review the initial deposit of pilgrims and explore alternative investments to bridge the gap between the actual cost of Hajj and pilgrims' payments while improving returns.JEL Classification: M31, M37, L92 How to Cite:Masruroh, A., Rodoni, A., & Pontjowinoto, I. This research method is a literature review by analyzing books and literature from various databases related to the research theme. The data used in this study is qualitative data from literature studies obtained from books and articles through various databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and other valid online sources to obtain research-themed material during March and April 2023. The use of mobile banking continues to increase. The features available in mobile banking provide comfort and convenience in making transactions. This can lead to consumption patterns that are not in accordance with the rules set out in Islamic law. Artificial intelligence technology can be applied in various business functions including production, distribution, procurement, and so on. In the consumption function, artificial intelligence can be designed to control consumption so that it conforms to Islamic principles, for example consuming halal goods, excessive amounts, and so on. The artificial intelligence technology adopted in mobile banking services is expected to become one of the monitoring tools to encourage Islamic banking customers to always commit to consumption rules, and prevent all forms of deviation from the correct consumption path.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Stock prices are influenced by numerous factors, including policy adjustments, economic conditions, and international developments. Consequently, forecasting stock price trends accurately has posed a significant challenge for economists to study. The Islamic financial industry experiences fewer shocks compared to the traditional financial sector, allowing investors to anticipate the performance of Islamic indices. This study aims to predict the Islamic stock market indices in six countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, using the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model. Monthly data from 2013 to 2023 sourced from investing.com and Yahoo Finance are analyzed using R machine learning. The objective of this study is to provide accurate predictions for the next 25 months and offer insights into potential price movements. Overall, this research also sheds light on the dynamics of the Islamic market in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, which adhere to the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH) due to the predictability of index prices by historical data.
