Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is defined as a hemoglobin (Hb) level below normal thresholds and is commonly associated with inadequate intake of essential micronutrients, such as iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, which are important for erythropoiesis. Poor adherence to iron and folic acid supplementation remains a major contributor to maternal anemia. Therefore, internal motivation and healthcare provider support are key factors in ensuring effective nutritional interventions during pregnancy. This study aimed to examine the association between internal motivation and healthcare provider support with adherence to iron supplementation among pregnant women in Karang Tengah, Sukabumi City, in 2026. A correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 80 pregnant women selected through total sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires, while adherence was measured using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8), which has demonstrated reliability Cronbach’s alpha = 0.796. Data were analyzed using the Somers’ d test. The results showed that most respondents had moderate motivation (55.0%), perceived healthcare provider support as inadequate (56.3%), and demonstrated low adherence (46.3%). Statistical analysis revealed significant associations between both variables and adherence (p = 0.001). In conclusion, both factors are significantly associated with adherence to iron supplementation among pregnant women.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women remains a significant health issue and has the potential to cause various complications. The high prevalence of anemia among pregnant women indicates that prevention efforts still need to be improved, particularly through family support. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and anemia prevention efforts among pregnant women in the service area of the Baros Community Health Center in Sukabumi City. This study employed a correlational method with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all pregnant women in the service area of the Baros Community Health Center in Sukabumi City, with a sample of 119 pregnant women selected using total sampling. The family support variable was measured using the PSS -Fa, with the validity test yielding a calculated r value > the table r value of 0.361, while the reliability test yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.752. The anemia prevention efforts variable was based on the Guttman scale, with validity test results showing a p-value <0.05, indicating validity, except for items 9, 10, and 11, which were therefore excluded from the analysis; the reliability test yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.373. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using the Spearman rank test. Most respondents had strong family support, and most had effective anemia prevention measures in place; there was a significant association between family support and anemia prevention efforts among pregnant women (p = 0.000). There is a link between family support and efforts to prevent anemia in pregnant women. It is hoped that healthcare workers can enhance education and outreach regarding anemia prevention by involving families.

Abstract

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis often face various physical and psychosocial problems that can affect their anxiety levels and quality of life. Important factors in helping patients adapt psychosocially to their condition and treatment are family support and self-efficacy, such as self-efficacy and self-care. Focusing on quality of life and anxiety levels, this study investigates the role of family support and self-efficacy in the psychosocial adaptation of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. This study uses a literature review of ten relevant scientific articles published between 2021 and 2025, which were analyzed descriptively and obtained from the Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and MDPI databases. Descriptive analysis was performed on selected articles. The results of the literature review showed that good family support, high levels of self-efficacy, and self-care abilities were associated with lower anxiety levels and better quality of life in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. These findings confirm that improving psychosocial adaptation can be achieved through the use of a holistic nursing approach that involves the family and strengthens the patient's self-agency

Abstract

Breast cancer patients often experience physical and psychological changes that may affect their self-esteem. Low self-esteem can influence treatment adherence, psychological well-being, and overall quality of life. This study aims to identify factors that influence self-esteem among breast cancer patients. The method used was a literature review following the PRISMA guidelines. Articles were searched from Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Taylor & Francis Online, databases using the keywords “self-esteem”, “breast cancer patients”, and “determinants”. Articles published between 2020–2025 were included. From 3,470 identified articles, 9 studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed descriptively. The results show that self-esteem in breast cancer patients is influenced by several factors, including family support, body image, meaning of life, self-efficacy, and anxiety. Family support was consistently reported as a significant factor associated with higher self-esteem. These findings highlight the importance of psychosocial support in improving the psychological well-being of breast cancer patients.
