Abstract

Selfitis is one of the phenomena that is currently popular among adolescents. Adolescents are attracted to show self-presentation, one of which is through selfies. This study aimed to identify the correlation between the obsessive desire to take selfies and high school adolescents' self-esteem. This research was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The study population was high school adolescents aged 15-16 years with 797 participants recruited using a total sampling method. The instrument in this study used the Rosenberg self-esteem questionnaire to measure self-esteem and the Selfitis Behavior Scale (SBS) questionnaire to measure selfitis in adolescents. The results showed that most of the adolescents had borderline selfitis (46.3%) and high self-esteem (88.1%). Factors that were significantly related to taking selfies amongst adolescents were gender (p-value: 0.000) and socioeconomic status (p-value: 0.000). Meanwhile, gender (p-value: 0.013), socio-economic status (p-value: 0.032), family harmony (p-value: 0.000), and selfitis (p-value: 0.000) were significantly related to self-esteem in adolescents. The multivariate analysis results showed that harmony in the family was the most influential factor in adolescents' self-esteem. Adolescents with higher levels of selfitis and harmony in the family tended to have better self-esteem.

Abstract

Background: An individual who is positively confirmed COVID-19 is required to undergo a longterm isolation. As a consequence, this condition can cause physical and psychosocial impacts. This review article aims to identify psychosocial impacts COVID-19 patients and protective factors the patients during isolation enactment. Method: This article is a systematic review by doing article identification from four data bases (ScienceDirect, ProQuest, EBSCO and PubMed) published between January to October 2020. The articles were selected using PRISMA based on assigned inclusion and exclusion, keywords on psychological impact, COVID-19, and confirmed patient. Results: Based on the 28 article analysis divides psychosocial domain into four aspects; they are emotional impact, social, and behavior. Protective factor was divided into four aspects, they are social support (family, social, medical team, and government support), personal ability (religious, cognitive, affective, psychomotor aspects), positive belief (internal and external), and material asset (facility and financial). Conclusion: Psychosocial impacts of confirmed COVID-19 patients during isolation enactment can be minimized through psychologist intervention by increasing patients’ protective factors. Based on the finding, the suggestion was the part of nursing in isolation COVID-19 important to increase health condition of mental patients undergo isolation.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescents are a group vulnerable to mental health problems, including stress, anxiety, and depression. This study aimed to examine the interlink of a harmonious family with stress, anxiety, and depression in adolescents.Methods: This study employed descriptive correlational design with cross-sectional approach and examined 851 high school adolescents aged between 16-18 years who were recruited using a total sampling method from five high school in Malang City. Stress, anxiety and depression in adolescents was assessed employing the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS - 21), while, to assess family harmony, a questionnaire   developed by the researcher was used. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and bivariate tests using Spearman Rank Correlation.Results: It was revealed that 428 adolescents (50.3%) were male, 321 adolescents (37.7%) came from parents who worked privately, and 482 adolescents (56.6%) had their parents' social status above the minimum wage standard. Eight hundred and two adolescents (94.2%) had harmonious families, while the remaining 49 adolescents (5.8%) had non-harmonious families. Our study concluded that family harmony had a significant relationship with adolescent stress levels (p-value 0.013). On the other hand, the analysis showed that family harmony was not related to adolescents' anxiety (p-value 0.071) and depression level (p-value 0.13). A harmonious family makes children mentally healthy, able to adapt to the environment while a family that is not harmonious can trigger stress because conditions are not as expected, coupled with the burden of schoolwork, stressors from teachers and peers.Conclusion:The results of the research showed that harmony in the family had a significant effect on stress in adolescents. Therefore, it is necessary to provide education and counseling to the family to prevent fights in the family so that it can reduce the emergence of stress in adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: Suicide is a significant mental health problem in adolescents around the world that requires comprehensive treatment. This study aimed to examine the relationship between stress, anxiety, and depression with suicidal ideation in adolescents. Method: This research used quantitative methods with a cross-sectional approach. The number of respondents was 869 adolescents, with a total sampling technique. The instrument used to measure stress, anxiety, and depression is the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), while the idea of suicide is measured using the Scale for Suicide Ideation (SSI) instrument. Results: The result of this study showed that teenagers who had suicidal ideation were 206 (23.7%) respondents, while 663 (76.3%) of other respondents did not have the idea of suicide. There was a significant relationship between suicidal ideation with stress levels (p-value 0.000), anxiety (p-value 0.000), and level of depression (p-value 0.000) in adolescents. Conclusion: Mental and psychological health support measures must be given to adolescents to prevent an increase in suicide ideas.

Abstract

Burnout mahasiswa dikarenakan beban akademik, kemampuan dalam berkomunikasi tidak asertif dengan teman, dosen dan keluarga sehingga dapat menurunkan minat belajar selama pandemic COVID-19. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis hubungan pola komunikasi dalam keluarga dengan kejadian burnout. Metode penelitian ini yaitu kuantitatif dengan pendekatan crossectional. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah Mahasiswa Sarjana dan Pasca Sarjana yang mengikuti pelatihan komunikasi asertif di kota Malang sebanyak 195 partisipan dengan teknik total sampling. Kuesioner yang digunakan yaitu data demografi, komunikasi dalam keluarga dan bunout pada mahasiswa. Tingkat pendidikan berhubungan signifikan dengan burnout (p-value = 0.022). Sebagian besar remaja memiliki burnout kategori rendah (85.1%). Pola komunikasi memiliki conversation orientation tinggi (55.9%) dan conformity orientation rendah (62.1%). Hasil uji korelasi yaitu terdapat hubungan bermakna antara conversational orientation dan conformity orientation dengan burnout pada mahasiswa. Mahasiswa yang memiliki dimensi komunikasi conversational baik menunjukkan rendahnya burnout (p-value = 0.012). Mahasiswa yang memiliki dimensi komunikasi conformity baik menunjukkan rendahnya burnout (p-value = 0.013). Conversation orientation mempengaruhi keterbukaan, harga diri dan keberanian mahasiswa dalam menyampaikan pendapat sehingga burnout rendah.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Keluarga merupakan bagian penting yang berperan dalam kesehatan remaja. Komunikasi dalam keluarga dan keharmonisan dalam keluarga berkaitan erat dengan perkembangan kesehatan mental remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara komunikasi dalam keluarga dengan keharmonisan dalam keluarga pada remaja sekolah menengah atas di Malang.Method: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan crossectional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah remaja SMA yang bersekolah di MAN 2 Kota Malang, SMKN 11 Kota Malang dan Bululawang, Malang, Jawa Timur yang berusia 15 – 16 tahun. Teknik total sampling digunakan dalam pengambilan sampel penelitian dengan jumlah sampel 921 partisipan. Kuisioner self-reported komunikasi dalam keluarga dan keharmonisan dalam keluarga digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi kedua variable.Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  sebagian besar remaja memiliki komunikasi dalam keluarga yang adekuat (87,3%) dan memiliki keluarga yang harmonis (94.2%). Hasil analisis biavariat menunjukan bahwa tidak ada hubungan signifikan antara komunikasi dalam keluarga dengan keharmonisan keluarga dengan  nilai p-value 0.246.Kesimpulan : komunikasi dalam keluarga tidak berhubungan signifikan dengan keharmonisan keluarga pada remaja. Penelitian ini memberikan tambahan literatur terkait hubungan antara komunikasi dan keharmonisan dalam keluarga serta dapat menjadi dasar dalam pemberian intervensi masalah kesehatan mental pada remaja.

Abstract

Background: Family communication can become a support system for adolescents. Ineffective communication in the family causes emotional problems and poor psychological well-being in adolescents. Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the determinant factor of effective family communication in adolescents. Methods: This was a cross-sectional multi-centre design with 357 participants aged 15-16 from fve high schools in Indonesia. We used the convenience sampling method to select participants. Communication in the family questionnaire, Rosenberg Self Esteem Instrument, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), and the Scale for Suicide Ideation (SSI) questionnaires were used to measure communication within the family, selfesteem, stress, anxiety, depression, and suicide ideation, respectively. Data were analyzed using Chi-square and binary logistics regression. Results: Most of the adolescents were male (52.1%), had harmonious families (96.6%), had economic status above the minimum wage (65.5%), had high self-esteem (88.5%), and had high social support (67.8%). However, in terms of mental health problems, as many as 47.3%, 74.2%, 72%, and 30.5% of adolescents experienced stress, anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation, respectively. The multivariate analysis concluded that gender (AOR: 0.499; 95% CI: 0.294-0.847) and socioeconomic status (AOR: 0.2.162; 95% CI: 1.296-3.608) were signifcantly correlated with family communication. Conclusion: Males adolescents are more likely to have ineffective family communication than female adolescents. Also, adolescents with a family socioeconomic status below the minimum wage have a greater risk of ineffective family communication. Therefore, it is essential to improve family communication through assertive communication training in adolescents and families in the educational and community setting.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tersedak merupakan kondisi kegawatdaruratan yang dapat  terjadi pada semua usia, terutama pada bayi dan anak-anak. Kondisi ini dapat membuat seseorang mengalami penyumbatan pada saluran pernafasan sehingga perlu diberikan pertolongan segera karena bisa membuat tubuh mengalami hipoksia dan mengakibatkan kematian. Tindakan pertolongan pertama untuk mengatasi masalah tersedak perlu dilakukan saat pertama kali menemukan korban dengan kondisi ini. Semakin cepat korban ditemukan maka semakin cepat pula pasien tersebut mendapat pertolongan sehingga terhindar dari kecacatan atau kematian. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu meningkatkan pengetahuan serta keterampilan ibu dalam melakukan pertolongan pertama ketika bayi dan anak mengalami tersedak. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini menggunakan media power point saat pemberian edukasi kemudian dilanjutkan dengan demontrasi langsung kepada peserta bagaimana cara melakukan tehnik backblow ketika bayi dan anak mengalami tersedak. Hasil kegiatan menunjukan antusiasme peserta dalam melakukan demonstrasi tehnik backblow serta adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam melakukan tehnik backblow yaitu saat pre test sebanyak 25 % pengetahuan dan keterampilan baik,  meningkat menjadi 81.25 % setelah edukasi dan  post test dilakukan. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian pendidikan kesehatan dan demonstrasi mengenai pertolongan pertama pada bayi dan anak tersedak sangat membantu ibu dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan. Kata Kunci: Pengetahuan,  Tehnik Backblow, Tersedak.     ABSTRACT Choking is an emergency condition that can occur at any age, especially in infants and children. This condition can make a person experience a blockage in the respiratory tract so that immediate assistance is needed because it can make the body experience hypoxia and result in death. First aid measures to deal with choking problems need to be done when you first find a victim with this condition. The quicker the victim is found, the sooner the patient gets help so that he or she avoids disability or death. This community service activity aims to help increase the knowledge and skills of mothers in performing first aid when babies and children experience choking. The method used in this activity uses power point when providing education and then continues with direct demonstrations to participants how to do the backblow technique when babies and children experience choking. The results of the activity showed the enthusiasm of the participants in demonstrating the backblow technique and an increase in the knowledge and skills of the participants in carrying out the backblow technique, namely during the pre-test, 25% of knowledge and skills were good, increasing to 81.25% after the education and post-test were carried out. So it can be concluded that the provision of health education and demonstrations regarding first aid for infants and choking children greatly helps mothers in increasing knowledge. Keywords: Knowledge, Backblow Technique, Choking.

Abstract

Background: Changes that occurred during COVID-19 pandemic have caused people to have various responses when receiving a diagnosis of COVID-19; among others are stigma in society, lack of knowledge, various social media news that affect people’s beliefs, and mental health during the pandemic. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the psychosocial experiences of patients before and when they were frst diagnosed with COVID-19. Methods: Using a phenomenological approach, we involved 19 COVID-19 survivors who were medically diagnosed and confrmed positive for COVID-19 in the frst 6 months of the pandemic entering Indonesia, located in Madiun Regency, East Java Province, Indonesia. We conducted face-toface semi-structured interviews with health protocols and analyzed using the 6-step of Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method. Results: Three themed-fndings illustrate patients’ psychosocial experiences before being diagnosed: 1) cooperative behavior during the pandemic (with sub themes: recognizing symptoms and looking for medical help); 2) Navigating feelings when frst received a diagnosis (with sub themes: being worried about the diagnosis, suspecting infection based on exposure history, and acknowledging the existence of COVID-19); and 3) Early psychosocial responses (with sub-themes: psychological response, cognitive response,behavioral response, family responses, and social response). Conclusion: Exploring the experiences of patients with confrmed COVID-19 before and undergoing the isolation period can provide opportunities to improve the quality of physical and psychological services starting from prevention and assistance when receiving a diagnosis so as not to experience a worsening of the condition during treatment. Recommendations are for further study about COVID-19 survivors among children and adolescents who have been treated in the intensive care unit.

Abstract

Mahasiswa merupakan kelompok yang terdampak COVID-19 dan rentan memiliki kesehatan mental yang lebih buruk akibat tingginya stresor. Pandemi dan kondisi pasca pandemi COVID-19 berpotensi menyebabkan masalah kesehatan mental pada mahasiswa sehingga perlu tindakan untuk mengelola stres melalui pelatihan manajemen stres. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 29 September 2022 sampai 15 November 2022 berlokasi di Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Brawijaya Malang dengan sasaran mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Brawijaya sebanyak 147 mahasiswa. Kegiatan ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi masalah kesehatan jiwa melalui deteksi dini dan pelatihan manajemen stres. Deteksi dini dilaksanakan menggunakan Masclah Burn Out Inventory-Student dan Self Reporting Questionaire (SRQ-29). Hasil deteksi dini menunjukkan bahwa peserta pengabdian masyarakat berusia rata – rata 22 tahun dan 33.3% memiliki pendapatan dibawah UMR. Sebanyak 23.8% mahasiswa pernah terkonfirmasi positif COVID-19 dan 32.7% mahasiswa memiliki tingkat burnout yang tinggi. Dalam hal kesehatan mental, sebanyak 46.9% peserta memiliki masalah kesehatan mental, dimana 42.9% mahasiswa dan 63.3% terindikasi memiliki gangguan psikotik dan memiliki PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilanjutkan pelatihan manajemen stres selama dua hari. Pandemi COVID-19 memberikan dampak signifikan pada kesehatan mental mahasiswa.
