Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine various literature that discusses the implementation of guidance and counseling (BK) management systems in regular schools in the context of inclusive education. The research was conducted using the narrative literature review method on national sources indexed by SINTA and several relevant international articles. The results of the study show that the BK management system plays an important role in supporting the success of inclusive education, especially at the stage of planning, implementing, and evaluating services that are oriented to the individual needs of students. However, implementation in the field still faces obstacles, such as the limited competence of BK teachers in handling students with special needs (including slow learners), lack of coordination across professions, and lack of policy support from schools. This study recommends the need to strengthen the capacity of BK teachers, the development of school policies that favor diversity, and the use of technology in the BK management system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of guidance and counseling (GC) management at the senior high school level through a literature review approach. The study focuses on the implementation of guidance and counseling management functions, including planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation of services. The research method employed is a literature review by examining five research articles published between 2020 and 2025, obtained through Google Scholar based on specific inclusion criteria. The data analysis technique was conducted narratively and systematically. The findings indicate that guidance and counseling management in senior high schools has generally been implemented quite well through the application of POAC functions (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling), the use of clear organizational structures, and collaboration among school personnel. However, several challenges remain, such as the limited number of guidance and counseling teachers, weak integration of digital technology, and the suboptimal evaluation of service impacts on students’ development. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen digital-based guidance and counseling management and improve the managerial competencies of guidance and counseling teachers to ensure that services become more effective and adaptive to contemporary developments.

Abstract

The evaluation of guidance and counseling services is a critical component in the management of school-based counseling programs to ensure alignment between planning, implementation, and outcomes relative to students' developmental needs. This study aims to examine the concept of guidance and counseling program evaluation as an integral part of a quality education system. Guidance and counseling services play a strategic role in facilitating students' personal, social, academic, and career development, thus requiring structured management, particularly through systematic evaluation. This study employed a qualitative approach using a literature review method, analyzing relevant books, regulations, and scientific articles related to guidance and counseling program evaluation. The findings indicate that guidance and counseling program evaluation is a systematic process for obtaining objective information regarding the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of guidance and counseling services on students' development. The purposes of evaluation include assessing program implementation, measuring goal attainment, and providing feedback for program improvement. Evaluation serves a strategic function in decision-making, service quality enhancement, and the professional development of school counselors. This study further elaborates on the principles of evaluation, implementation procedures, evaluation approaches, methods, and data collection instruments including testing and non-testing techniques. Additionally, data sources and evaluation criteria are identified covering program formulation, service implementation, and outcomes achieved by students, teachers, schools, and the wider community. Overall, this study affirms that evaluation is an essential component in ensuring the quality of guidance and counseling services and supporting the optimal achievement of educational goals.

Abstract

This qualitative research, using a case study design through Focus Group Discussion (FGD), examines the role of implementing a digitized Guidance and Counseling (BK) service system in vocational schools to optimize psychological support and stress control for students during their Field Work Practice (PKL) period. PKL triggers significant psychological pressure due to demanding work environments, social adaptation issues, and interpersonal dynamics, leading to increased stress and difficulties in managing emotions. Students are reluctant to contact conventional BK teachers due to shyness, awkwardness, viewing the problem as minor, and being hindered by limited accessibility, slow response times, and constraints of distance/transportation costs. The digitalization of BK services emerges as an innovative solution to bridge this gap , aligning with the POAC management framework (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling). Essential features highly needed are: a 24-hour Personal Live Chat that offers absolute anonymity and guarantees data confidentiality. Students also require Stress Early Warning Notifications and a Daily Mood Journal. They prefer educational content based on animated videos relevant to the reality of PKL, such as tips on dealing with conflicts, and reject quick self-assessment tools. However, the main concerns regarding the implementation of digitalization are the school's infrastructure readiness (budget, network) and the students' readiness (internet quota costs, device limitations). The success of this digital system's adoption hinges upon the support of school facilities/infrastructure and the cultural shift from the conventional to the digital model.

Abstract

This study explores the multidimensional professional identity of senior high school counselors in Bandung City. Using a phenomenological approach and focus group discussions, five indicators of professional identity were identified: professional involvement, knowledge, attitudes, roles and expertise, and professional philosophy. Findings reveal that active engagement in professional organizations enhances competencies and social capital, while knowledge of the profession’s history and regulations informs ethical and effective practice. Empathy, objectivity, and relational orientation strengthen professional pride, and counselors’ roles in case management and referral highlight their adaptive and accountable function as connectors. The philosophy of guidance and counseling, grounded in preventive, strengths-based, and humanistic principles, supports holistic student development and resilience. Professional identity emerges from integrating experience, competence, ethics, and collaboration, contributing to improved counseling services and student well-being. Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of deep learning-based training in strengthening multicultural competence and awareness of radicalism among Indonesian school counselors. Employing a quasi-experimental mixed-method design, the study involved 17 guidance and counseling teachers from secondary schools in Garut Regency, West Java. The three-week intervention integrated Socratic dialogue, experiential simulation, and structured cultural reflection. Quantitative data were collected using a pretest-posttest Radicalism Attitude Inventory, while qualitative data were obtained from reflective portfolios, interviews, focus group discussions, and observations. The paired-sample t-test revealed statistically significant improvement in counselors' radicalism awareness (p = 0.015, Cohen's d = 0.657), driven primarily by substantial gains in detecting overt radicalism indicators (Revolutionary dimension: p = 0.001, d = 1.03). Qualitative findings demonstrated transformative professional development, including increased cultural self-awareness, enhanced empathetic and dialogic counseling skills, greater sensitivity to subtle forms of intolerance, and improved readiness to implement preventive strategies in school contexts. Overall, the findings indicate that deep learning-based training facilitates professional transformation through iterative reflection and experiential learning, supporting its integration into counselor professional development programs focused on multicultural practice and radicalism prevention. Abstract

The phenomenon of bullying in vocational schools remains a serious challenge in creating a safe and inclusive school climate. One factor that strengthens the sustainability of bullying behavior is the low active role of students as bystanders who tend to remain silent or allow bullying to occur. This study aims to develop a management model for guidance and counseling (BK) services in an anti-bullying program that focuses on transforming the role of bystanders into upstanders. The research method used a focus group discussion (FGD) approach at SMKN 3 Cimahi. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation studies of BK teachers. The results show that the effectiveness of the anti-bullying program is highly dependent on the managerial skills of BK teachers in planning programs based on student needs, implementing group guidance services with an experiential learning approach, and continuous evaluation through cross-school collaboration. Experience-based interventions have been shown to increase students' awareness of empathy and sense of social responsibility in preventing bullying. This study recommends strengthening the capacity of data-based and collaborative BK service management as a key strategy to create a proactive and caring school culture.

Abstract

Education at the junior high school level is a crucial phase for early adolescents requiring structured guidance. This study aims to gather evidence on the management of Guidance and Counseling (BK) in various Indonesian junior high schools, focusing on planning, implementation, evaluation, and supporting and inhibiting factors. Using a systematic literature review method of ten articles published between 2020–2025, the results show that most junior high schools have implemented BK management functions. Planning is generally initiated by needs assessments, but its implementation faces challenges such as an unfavorable student-counselor ratio, limited facilities, and insufficient allocated hours for BK. Program evaluation is often weak, hindering continuous improvement processes. Despite some progress, structural and technical challenges persist. Therefore, enhancing BK teachers' competencies, better school support, and adequate facilities are needed to create more transparent and effective BK services.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze students' perception of the implementation of the Guidance and Counseling (GC) management system in schools, identify managerial gaps, and formulate recommendations for developing a digital-based system. Comprehensive GC services require systematic management, regulated through the integrated POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) functions. The method used is descriptive qualitative through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with 10 high school students. The results showed significant success in the Actuating (Implementation) function (high interaction comfort and quality of interpersonal relationships). However, a critical communication gap was found in the Planning function, where the majority of students (9 out of 10) were unaware that the need assessment was used as the basis for program development. Furthermore, a strong aspiration from students was found towards the digitalization of GC services to increase accessibility and transparency, especially in scheduling and online need assessment. The implication is that the GC management system needs to be enhanced by strengthening two-way communication and integrating digital technology as part of the System Support to achieve accountability and effectiveness.
