Abstract

This study aims to examine how women in Aceh navigate Sharia-based moral regulations within the gendered public sphere of coffee shop culture and to analyze the strategies they employ to construct agency, identity, and visibility under Qanun governance. Using a descriptive phenomenological approach, this research adopts Judith Butler’s theory of gender performativity as its main analytical framework. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and participant observation involving five active female informants in coffee shops in West Aceh. The findings indicate that women’s participation in coffee shop culture represents adaptive and strategic forms of everyday agency. Women negotiate religious and social boundaries by regulating their presence through specific choices of visiting time, clothing, seating positions, and interaction styles, allowing them to remain within socially acceptable norms while subtly challenging gendered exclusions. Furthermore, coffee shops function as informal yet significant arenas for gender contestation, enabling women to build professional networks, engage in public discourse, and consolidate social and professional agendas in traditionally male-dominated spaces. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that the public sphere in Aceh simultaneously reflects Sharia control and opens opportunities for women to exercise adaptive and subversive agency. These findings contribute to the literature on gender relations, Sharia regulation, and public space by highlighting coffee shops as micro-level sites where women continuously negotiate identity, rights, and participation in a post-conflict society governed by religious norms.

Abstract

The current development of ICT is transforming the approach to agricultural extension from conventional methods to advanced method by incorporating digital technology. Jarkomluhdes is an online agricultural extension activity implemented as an effort to enhance the institutional development of extension services at the village level, known as Posluhdes. This research aims to analyze the level of participation and effectiveness of Jarkomluhdes, as well as to examine the influencing factors. The study employs a quantitative approach and survey method. The population includes 132 officials and members of Posluhdes spread across 12 villages in 5 sub-districts of Bekasi Regency, with a census sampling method. Data is analyzed using PLS method through SmartPLS 3.2.9. The level of participation and effectiveness of Jarkomluhdes is categorized as very low. The role of facilitators and the availability of facilities and infrastructure influence the level of participation. Furthermore, the level of participation affects the effectiveness of Jarkomluhdes.

Abstract

This study explores how communication within social networks mediates access to resources and entrepreneurial success among people with disabilities. Moving beyond resource-based perspectives that emphasize financial capital, the research applies a communicative–relational framework integrating social capital theory and communication theory of resilience. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach using the Analytic Hierarchy Process with five expert informants to identify and prioritize key factors affecting business performance among disabled micro-entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Results reveal that while financial resources remain foundational, their impact depends heavily on communicative linkages across disability support organizations, mentorship structures, and community networks. Social network communication serves as a mediating mechanism that converts tangible resources into adaptive capacity, innovation, and social recognition. The findings underscore the need for inclusive entrepreneurship programs that enhance both resource accessibility and communicative competence, positioning communication as a form of social capital essential for sustainable development.

Abstract

The Jajar Legowo, as an agricultural technique innovation, has been introduced to farmers in Pangkal Jaya Village for quite some time. However, its implementation has not consistently followed the recommendations despite its proven ability to increase rice production. This research aims to review the adoption of the "Jajar Legowo" innovation in Pangkal Jaya Village, Bogor Regency, by analyzing the relationship between extension support and the farmer's perception of the innovation characteristics with implementing the innovation system. The research uses a survey method to collect quantitative data, supplemented by qualitative data obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and literature review. The study found that the level of Jajar Legowo innovation implementation in Pangkal Jaya Village is relatively high and significantly related to extension support and farmers' perceptions of the characteristics of the Jajar Legowo planting technique. The effectiveness of the extension methods and content makes farmers quickly understand how to use the Jajar Legowo planting system, even though the extension media is less varied and the intensity of the extension is relatively low. Farmers assess Jajar Legowo as an agricultural innovation that is profitable, simple, and in accordance with farmers' needs, and the results can be observed. However, Jajar Legowo is challenging to implement because of the limited land available to farmers, requiring several adaptation strategies.
