Abstract

Toxic work environments not only negatively impact the mental and physical well-being of employees but also affect employee productivity and retention. A cross-generational perspective is crucial to providing more comprehensive insights and helping organizations create a healthy work culture. This study aimed to describe the toxic work environment perceived by cross-generational employees and the demographic variables that influence it. The quantitative research used a convenience sampling technique. The sample consisted of 783 Indonesians aged 19 to 60 years who had worked for at least 1 year. The study examined the perceived toxic work environment using descriptive statistics. In addition, researchers also used Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis statistical analyses to see the differences based on the demographic data collected. The results found that the majority of the toxic work environments perceived by employees were in the low category (91%). The analysis also showed that differences in generation, type of work, and length of service affect the toxic work environment felt by employees. The toxic work environment is more prevalent among Generation Z, employees who work in the private sector, and those who have worked for 5 years or less.

Abstract

Resilience is a crucial aspect that is closely related to the mental health of children and adolescents. The development of measurements related to resilience can be the first step to be able to conduct accurate psychological assessments and develop strategies to strengthen resilience. This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The analysis was conducted on a sample of 1,087 high school students from the Surakarta area. The initial CFA model for the resilience scale showed a good fit (RMSEA = 0.073; SRMR = 0.055; CFI = 0.94, NFI = 0.95, GFI = 0.90).  Model fit means that the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) model is supported by empirical data and supports the theoretical structure. The scale also met the criteria of convergent and discriminant validity, as well as reliability, in explaining the dimensions of resilience: personal competence, trust in instinct, acceptance of change, control, and spirituality.  Among these dimensions, spirituality, personal competence, and trust had the highest reflective weight, followed by acceptance and control. In conclusion, this study confirmed that the Indonesian version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) is a valid and reliable tool for measuring resilience among senior high school students. Therefore, this scale can be used in conducting accurate psychological assessments in order to build strategies to strengthen resilience in adolescents.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the highest percentage of the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) comes from graduates of Vocational High Schools (SMK), reaching 9.01%. One of the main causes is the lack of work readiness. To address this issue, exploring factors that can contribute to improving students' readiness to enter the workforce is crucial. Therefore, this study investigated the role of learning agility and perceived social support in work readiness among Vocational High School students. The participants were 93 grade XI students majoring in office management of vocational high school in Surakarta selected using simple random sampling technique. The scales used were the Work Readiness Scale (α = 0.95), the Learning Agility Scale (α = 0.92), and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (α = 0.92). Data were analysed using the Multiple Regression Model. The results showed that learning agility can partially predict students' work readiness, but perceived social support does not significantly predict students' work readiness. Meanwhile, combined, learning agility and perceived social support contribute 33.7% to work readiness. These findings suggest a need for schools to design learning programs that not only focus on technical skills but also train students to become resilient, flexible, and adaptive learners.

Abstract

Employees are one of the resources that can help the company achieve its goals. This can be occurred by employees carrying out roles outside their main duties (extra roles) known as organizational citizenship behavior. The emergence of organizational citizenship behavior in employees can be influenced by the company's work environment. This study aims to determine whether there is a positive relationship between the work environment and organizational citizenship behavior in employees. The research was conducted at a tourism company in Central Java. Respondents involved in this study were 59 employees consisting of 47 male respondents and 12 female respondents. The sampling technique used is a population study or census study, so that all employees are the research sample. The research instruments were the Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale (α = 0.801) and the Work Environment Scale (α = 0.836). Product moment correlation by Karl Pearson was used to test the research hypothesis. The results of analysis stated that there was a significant and positive relationship between the work environment and organizational citizenship behavior (r = 0.800; p <0.05). Based on these results it can be concluded that the better work environment built by the company for employees will increase organizational citizenship behavior shown by employees. In addition, it was also found that the non-physical work environment has a greater influence on organizational citizenship behavior of employees (β = 0.538; p<0.05) than the physical work environment (β = 0.515; p<0.05).

Abstract

The phenomenon of employees who tend to change jobs is increasingly widespread, especially among Generation Z, who tend to leave their jobs in less than 6 months, which makes it challenging for organizations to retain their employees. This study aims to examine the relationship between proactive personality and job-hopping intention, as well as the mediating role of job satisfaction in this relationship. The instruments used in this study were the Job-Hopping Intention Scale (α=0,880), the Proactive Personality Scale (α=0,839), and the Job Satisfaction Survey (α=0,920). The research method used is quantitative, involving 114 respondents who are Generation Z employees in Jabodetabek and have less than 2 years of service.  Data were analyzed using the PROCESS Macro for SPSS (Model 4) developed by Hayes. The results showed that job satisfaction has a significant effect in mediating the relationship between proactive personality and job-hopping intention. Thus, job satisfaction is an important aspect in reducing employees’ job-hopping intention. Companies are expected to develop programs to increase employee job satisfaction, such as career coaching, reward systems, supportive work environments, and greater job autonomy.

Abstract

The impact of harmful human behavior on the environment is an important issue. Therefore, it is essential to discuss how humans behave towards their environment. This research objective was to examine the relationship between openness to experience and pro-environmental behavior in students and to see the description of pro-environmental behavior in students. Furthermore, the research subjects comprised 216 undergraduate students, including 58 males (26.85%) and 158 females (73.15%) with an age range of 17 to 24 years old at a university. This research used a convenience sampling technique, and the data collection tools were scales. Besides, this research used two scales: the pro-environment scale and the openness to experience personality scale. The data analysis in this research used Kendall's Tau, resulting in a correlation between openness to experience and pro-environmental behavior in students (p<0.01). It meant that the higher the level of undergraduate students' openness to experience, the higher the pro-environmental behavior they had. In addition, it was also found that the frequency distribution of pro-environment behavior data was mainly in the moderate (88.9%) categorization.
