Abstract

3D printing is a tool used to make objects / test specimens in 3 dimensions, using the main material made from polymer. In 3D printers there are two types of filaments that are often used today, namely Polylactic acid or polylactide (PLA) material and Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), the material used in this study is PLA material, this material was chosen because it has several advantages. Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) biodegradable thermoplastics have been used in various industrial fields including automotive, computer, food, and electrical equipment also used in medical devices, PLA is a biodegradable thermoplastic sourced from natural starches such as corn and sugarcane. Therefore, this study aims to find the highest tensile strength in PLA materials using several levels of testing, The highest tensile test result at one parameter level will be carried out by the annealing process to determine the effect of the annealing process on the tensile test specimen. The research method used in this study is the Taguchi method designed L9 with 3 factors and 3 levels, using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) analysis method. The test results showed that the highest tensile strength was located in study number 5, which was 44.866 Mpa, and the lowest average tensile test value was in study number 4, which was 40.033 Mpa.

Abstract

In the world of transportation, there are many things that must be considered, ranging from safety to efficiency. Propulsion system planning is very important, this is because the system is a thrust generator that will determine the performance of the ship. The thrust generated must be able to overcome the resistance or friction of the ship with water. In recent times, many studies have been conducted to improve the performance and efficiency of the waterjet thruster. In this research, the performance of the waterjet thruster will be tested with variations in the number of inlet blades and the number of turbo outlet blades. The levels used are 8 blades and 15 blades. The manufacturing process on waterjet thruster components such as inlet, impeller, and turbo outlet uses Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology to obtain high dimensional accuracy. From the research conducted, it can be concluded that the number of blades at the turbo inlet and outlet has a major effect on the thrust generated. The turbo outlet has a greater role than the inlet in influencing the thrust force. From the research conducted by Nori and this study, it can be concluded that the turbo outlet with 8 blades produces the highest thrust force compared to 6 blades and 15 blades.

Abstract

Rice is one of the staple foods consumed by the people of Indonesia, including the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, more precisely in Bangka Regency, Riau Silip District, Banyu Asin Village. Newly harvested rice is usually not yet separated from the straw/panicle. The rice harvesting process still uses traditional tools or also called gebotan. One example is the rice threshing machine in Banyu Asin Village which has not been able to maximize the threshing results, which results in a long threshing process. The machine is only capable of threshing 30 kg/hour of rice that is put into the machine. Based on these needs, a rice threshing machine design was made to facilitate the threshing process. The design of the rice threshing machine refers to the design method, namely: planning, conceptualizing, designing, and finishing, then assessed based on technical and economic aspects. The designed machine uses a rotary system to thresh rice from its stalks, uses a combustion engine as a driving system, pulleys and belts as transmission elements, and the machine can be moved because it is lighter than existing machines. From the design results, this rice threshing machine has a minimum capacity of 80 kg/hour.

Abstract

A lathe machine is one of the primary machine tools used in manufacturing processes, which rotates a workpiece to facilitate cutting operations with the aid of a cutting tool. The apron and tailstock components on the DoAll Lt. 13 No 03 lathe play a crucial role in maintaining precision and ensuring smooth turning operations. The apron functions to control the automatic movement of the cutting tool along the longitudinal and transverse axes, while the tailstock provides additional support for the workpiece, especially during long turning operations or drilling. Common issues with the apron include wear on the lead screw, whereas the tailstock often experiences misalignment and wear on the bushing thread of the spindle. This study was conducted to repair these damages through disassembly, cleaning, visual inspection, measurement, replacement of damaged components, and realignment. The repair results showed improved machine performance in terms of movement precision and operational stability. By performing regular maintenance and repairs, the lathe machine’s working efficiency can be sustained over the long term.

Abstract

This article discusses the balancing process on a blower using the 4-run method and the balancer feature on the Vibroport 80. The initial vibration measurement of the blower was recorded at 2.28 mm/s, with the impeller weighing 2.5 kg. After adding a 50-gram trial weight at an angle of 0°, the resulting vibration was 0.956 mm/s RMS. At 120°, the vibration measured 2.99 mm/s, and at 240°, it increased to 3.64 mm/s. Based on the calculations performed, a correction weight of 150 grams was determined at an angle of 20°, successfully reducing the vibration to 0.965 mm/s RMS. Using the balancer feature method, the initial vibration value of 1.91 mm/s gradually decreased to 1.36 mm/s after six stages of correction weight application. From the results of both tests, the 4-run method was found to be the most effective for balancing the blower

Abstract

This Community Service Program aims to address production challenges faced by the Berkah Utama Snack business group, which operates in the fishery processing industry, specifically the production of fish crackers and kemplang (fish crackers). The business group, led by Mrs. Rika Trisdasawati, is located in the Sinar Jaya neighborhood of Sinar Jaya Jelutung Village, Sungailiat District, Bangka. The main challenges faced by partners were limited and worn-out production equipment, including worn and unhygienic fish grinding machines, manual kneading processes, and low-capacity packaging equipment. This resulted in a production capacity of only 10 kg per day, insufficient to meet consumer demand. The implementation method for this activity involved six main stages: (1) identifying partner needs through field observations, (2) designing machines according to technical specifications using CAD software, (3) manufacturing machines at the Polman Negeri Babel Mechanical Workshop with the involvement of technicians and students, (4) operational testing with partners, (5) operational mentoring, and (6) technology dissemination to partners. The results of this activity demonstrated significant achievements in the form of the construction and delivery of three production machines. First, a fish grinding machine with a 40x40 mm L-shaped angle iron frame, a 5.5 HP internal combustion engine, and a pulley-belt transmission system. Second, a stainless steel dough mixer with a 550x450x550 mm dough tube, a Ø30x370 mm screw mixer shaft, and a gear system for heavy loads. Third, a packaging machine equipped with a 1500x800x700 mm table stand. This program has succeeded in increasing partners' production capacity, improving the hygiene of the production process, and reducing dependence on manual labor. In addition, this activity also provides appropriate technology transfer to local communities and strengthens the regional economy by increasing the productivity of fishery product processing business groups.
