Abstract

The impact of flooding will increase with the occurrence of climate change and population growth in an area, one of which is on the banks of the Kampar River, Kampar District, Kampar Regency. Then needed efforts to prevent flooding and overcome it. One of them is by analyzing flood risk using spatial data analysis with the help of ArcGIS technology and the application of HEC-RAS to provide an overview the level of flood danger, the level of vulnerability, the level of flood risk and preventive measures that can be done. The results showed that the area of flood inundation occurred in residential areas, rice fields, and plantation. Based on the results of the analysis of the hazard level in 5 times and the total level of vulnerability, obtained 5 levels of risk according to the time period, namely, a very low risk level of 91.7%, low 4.9%, moderate 0.3%, high 0.4%, and very high 2.8% of total area of research. The level of risk is very high spread evenly around the riverbanks of Kampar District. one of the structural efforts in reducing the risk of flooding in Kampar Subdistrict are the making of dyke such as in Pulau Sarak and Rumbio Villages, provision of permanent shelter, and periodic physical maintenance of hydropower reservoirs in the dry season. Furthermore, non-structural efforts such as making evacuation route maps, changing land use patterns, procurement of Kotopanjang water level information boards, and the importance of enforcing regulations not to throw garbage into the river.

Abstract

Drought is one of the natural phenomena indicated by the limited availability of water above, on the surface and in the ground. Pelalawan District has a history of drought which occurred in 2015 and resulted in a water crisis. Drought index measurement with the help of spatial techniques is often the key in assisting monitoring to determine drought prevention measures. This study conducted a spatial analysis to determine the distribution of drought using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) method a 3-month time scales. This research used monthly satellite rainfall from 2010-2019. The results of the analysis show that extreme drought conditions occurred in June 2015 in Kuala Kampar sub-district with a value of -3.70.

Abstract

Sebagai daerah yang secara geografis terletak di pesisir pantai, kota Dumai memiliki resiko terhadap banjir. Keberadaan sungai Dumai yang membelah kota Dumai merupakan pembuangan utama drainase dari beberapa kecamatan, diantaranya kecamatan Dumai Selatan, Dumai Timur dan Dumai Barat serta Dumai Kota. Penyebab banjir dikarenakan jumlah curah hujan dan kondisi tinggi muka pasang surut air laut, menyebabkan jumlah debit air yang melalui sungai, melebihi kapasitas daya tampung saluran pembuangan dan sungai. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, di dalam menganalisis dan memodelkan simulasi kemungkinan banjir yang terjadi di sungai Dumai, melalui penggunaan aplikasi permodelan hidraulika HEC-RAS. Dari hasil penelitian Daerah aliran sungai Dumai merupakan dataran rendah yang memiliki tinggi tebing/tanggul sungai yang bervariasi, baik disisi kiri maupun sisi kanan sungai. Hal ini berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan tebing/tanggul dalam menahan tinggi muka air banjir rencana atau naik turunnya air pasang laut. Dan mengakibatkan air yang melimpas tersebut mengalir kearah bantaran sungai yang memiliki kontur lebih rendah dan berpotensi menggenangi lahan dan pemukiman warga.

Abstract

The coastline is the boundary between land and sea water whose position is always changing dynamically. Changes in coastlines are caused by disturbances to sediment transport along onshore, reduced sediment supply, disturbances of buildings, and low condition of the cliffs therefore they can’t cover the waves (Ministry of Public Works and Housing, 2015). The purpose of this study is to determine the response of the coastline after the construction of detached breakwater structure on the north coast of Bengkalis Island. Sentinel-2 imagery data used in this study and then analyzed using the Digital Shorelines Analysis System (DSAS) tool. The results of the analysis show that there are have variations of the shoreline response to the structures that have been built. In the period 2016 – 2022 the coastline hase changes, both accretion and abrasion. The maximum change in the forward coastline is 189.09 meters long with an accretion rate of 30.5 meters/year. While the maximum change in the backward coastline is 144.56 meters long with an abrasion rate of 23.32 meters/year. Overall, the construction of detached breakwaters has a positive impact on the coastline, thus increasing the land area on the north coast of Bengkalis Island.

Abstract

Peat restoration on peatlands is needed to restrain the rate of further damage from peatland ecosystems, one of which is a peat rewetting activity that is a way to re-wet the peatland using canal blocking to keepthe groundwater level at max 0.4 meters below the surface. Groundwater flow analysis was carried out in Lukun Village, Tebing Tinggi Timur District, Meranti Islands using Paper disc velocimeter (PDV)and groundwater level measurements using measuring pipes on 5 deep wells on the upstream transect and 5 deep wells on the downstream transect with a distance of 50 m and 100 m canal blocking. Theresults obtained from the Velocimeter Paper disc are the velocity and direction of flow in the upstream and downstream transects of the canal blocking, where groundwater flow rates are higher in thedownstream and lower in the upstream due to canal blocking. The benefit of having a canal block is that the groundwater flow rate in the upstream transect can be held up to the canal because the elevation ofthe channel's water level has been successfully raised.Keywords : peatland, canal blocking, paper disc velocimeter, groundwater flow.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan ini sebagai upaya membantu masyarakat akan penyediaan air bersih. Teknologi dalam penyediaan air bersih adalah salah satu aspek penting dalam memenuhi kebutuhan dasar manusia akan air yang aman dan sehat. Teknologi filtrasi air satu solusi yang efektif untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini. Namun, kesadaran dan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap teknologi ini sering kali kurang. Oleh karena itu, program sosialisasi transfer teknologi dan pelatihan menjadi penting. Sosialisasi transfer teknologi melibatkan pengenalan teknologi filtrasi air kepada Masyarakat Mak Teduh dihadiri dari perwakilan 3 dusun berjumlah 35 orang tentang jenis-jenis filter air, proses pembuatan, dan cara penggunaannya. Pelatihan praktis juga merupakan bagian integral dari program ini, memungkinkan masyarakat untuk menguasai keterampilan dalam pembuatan dan pemeliharaan filter air. Dampak dari program sosialisasi transfer teknologi dan pelatihan ini meningkatnya pengetahuan masyarakat tentang teknologi filtrasi air, dapat mengurangi risiko terpaparnya penyakit air yang dapat berakibat fatal, meningkatkan kualitas hidup, dan mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Kebakaran hutan dan lahan merupakan suatu bencana yang sering terjadi di Provinsi Riau. Terhitung sejak awal Januari 2023 hingga saat ini luas lahan yang terbakar di Riau sudah mencapai 1.184,36 hektare (Ha). Tingginya angka kebakaran hutan dan lahan yang terjadi setiap tahun ini tentunya dapat merusak kualitas lingkungan hidup. Diperlukan usaha serius dan berkesinambungan untuk dapat menurunkan, mencegah dan mengontrol kebakaran hutan dan lahan yang terjadi. Hal ini penting dilakukan agar jumlah kebakaran hutan dan lahan gambut yang diakibatkan oleh manusia dapat ditekan dengan melakukan salah satu usaha yaitu melalui program pemberdayaan ekonomi kelompok masyarakat. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat tentang cara peningkatan pendapatan ekonomi masayakat sekitar melalui budi daya madu. Dengan adanya transfer teknologi ini diharapkan kelompok masyarakat mampu menguasai cara budi daya madu sebagai upaya pencegahan karhutla yang dapat mengahasilkan pendapatan. Metode penerapan yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah melalui metode ceramah dan diskusi. Pada sesi pertama disampaikan beberapa materi terkait cara budidaya madu.

Abstract

Riau Province experiences a loss of coastline every year due to erosion. The northern coast of Bengkalis Island is prone to coastal setback. Apart from land collapse, erosion is also caused by the flow of water along the coast. To be able to carry out good disaster management, accurate coastal hydrodynamic modelling is important. Some important components of hydrodynamics are tidal characteristics and current patterns. These important components are identified using numerical models. Manning parameter calibration is used to improve the model's accuracy. The tidal characteristic obtained was mixed, predominantly semidiurnal. Meanwhile, the pattern of tidal currents is known from the direction of movement. At spring tide, water moves towards the south and southwest with an average speed of 0.210 m/s and at neap tide, it moves towards the northeast with an average speed of -0.232 m/s.

Abstract

Peat beaches are beaches whose land can be easily abraded than beaches with other types of land. This is due to the light density of peat soil so that it can be easily carried away by the flow of sea water. One of the peat beaches in Indonesia whose coastline has changed significantly in recent decades is the peat beach on Bengkalis Island, Riau Province. Peat samples were taken from Tanjung Jati Beach, Perapat Tunggal Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Island, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province and then the sample is carried out an initial motion analysis on peat soil sediment transport. The peat sample that is obtained is a type of fibric peat soil. This research is a basic research that aims to determine at what speed the peat soil begins to move by the flow of water so that it can be seen the relationship between flow velocity and particle diameter at the beginning of the particle movement. The analysis was carried out by visual observation during simulation in the laboratory using a modified flume which was then compared with the results of Shields' theoretical calculations. Simulations were also carried out using sand sediment as a comparison. The flume flow velocity is determined from 0.00989 m/s to 0.10112 m/s for peat material, and 0.03973 m/s to 0.18900 m/s for sand material. The velocity is considered to have met the required simulation conditions, starting from the sediment not moving, starting to move, and being carried away by the flow. The results of the analysis carried out show that the peat material begins to move at a lower speed than the sand material. This is due to the specific gravity of the peat material being lighter than the specific gravity of the sand material as a comparison. [ID] Kabupaten Kampar merupakan salah satu wilayah yang sering mengalami banjir, yang diakibatkan meluapnya sungai Kampar. Sepanjang tahun 2011 – 2017 tercatat paling sedikit telah terjadi bencana banjir 1 (satu) kali dalam setahun. Untuk meminimalisir dampak kejadian banjir, maka perlu dilakukan mempelajari karakteristik curah hujan secara temporal maupun spasial. Hal ini penting sebagai informasi kepada masyarakat untuk mengantisipasi dampak curah hujan ekstrim pada waktu dan lokasi tertentu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengindentifikasi spatio-temporal yang ekstrim dari curah hujan di Kabupaten Kampar yang sering menyebabkan banjir. Namun untuk mengidentifikasi ciri – ciri hujan, penelitian ini menggunakan CHIRPS (Climate Hazards InfraRed Precipitation dengan Station) data satelit karena data observasi data curah hujan di Station Klimatologi Riau tidak tersedia 2012. Hasil identifikasi menunjukan bahwa korelasi ( R ) nilai antara data observasi curah hujan dan data satelit CHIRPS adalah 0.526.  Nilai ini adalah diartikan “sedang” untuk dijadikan alternatif data kajian. GEE (Google Earth Engine) sebagai platform berbasis cloud digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik temporal diketahui curah hujan ekstrim terjadi di bulan Januari, Juni, Agustus dan November. Hasil identifikasi spasial menunjukan bahwa wilayah tersebut mempunyai rata – rata curah hujan maksimum tertinggi terdapat di wilayah Kecamatan Koto Kampar Hulu 40.01 mm/hari. Ini dapat dipastikan dengan melihat dokumentasi kejadian banjir yang sering terjadi di wilayah tersebut. [EN] Kampar Regency is one of the areas that frequently experiences flooding, which is caused by the overflowing of the Kampar River. Throughout 2011 - 2017, it was recorded that at least 1 (one) flood disaster occurred a year. To minimize the impact of flood events, it is necessary to study the characteristics of rainfall both temporally and spatially. This is important as information for the public to anticipate the impact of extreme rainfall at certain times and locations. This research aims to identify spatio-temporal extremes of rainfall in Kampar Regency which often cause flooding. However, to identify the characteristics of rainfall, this research uses CHIRPS (Climate Hazards InfraRed Precipitation with Station) satellite data because rainfall observation data at the Riau Climatology Station is not available in 2012. The identification results show that the correlation (R) value between rainfall observation data and CHIRPS satellite data is 0.526. This value is interpreted as "medium" to be used as an alternative study data. GEE (Google Earth Engine) as a cloud-based platform is used to identify the known temporal characteristics of extreme rainfall occurring in January, June, August and November. The spatial identification results show that this area has the highest average maximum rainfall in the Koto Kampar Hulu District area of ​​40.01 mm/day. This can be confirmed by looking at the documentation of flood events that often occur in the area.
