Abstract

The problem of the groundwater in the peat areas is the low acidity (pH) and the high content of organic matter (KMnO4). One of the relatively simple water treatment methods is to use rapid sand filter. The purpose of this community service activity is to socialize and apply rapid sand filter technology to farmer group in Kulim, Tenayan Raya, Pekanbaru. The method of socialization to farmer groups is done by making and installing rapid sand filter equipment in the location, water quality test and counseling about rapid sand filter technology. As a result, 4 rapid sand filter have been built and installed in 3 locations. Based on the parameters of pH, color and odor, the organic content of ground water quality in the area is not in accordance with the quality of clean water. The water quality after being processed in rapid sand filter has increased quality based on pH, color, odor, and KMnO4 parameters test.Keywords: peat water, rapid sand filter, water quality

Abstract

Abstract Bengkalis Island is an archipelago located in Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. Because it is directly facing the open ocean, causing abrasion to occur on the northern coast of Bengkalis Island. The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of the tidal current pattern in Selat Baru Beach, Bengkalis Regency using a numerical model (hydrodynamics) in the MIKE21 application. The results showed the current velocity of the new strait coast, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. Based on the results of the model, it is obtained that the highest tide current that occurs in the western season in 2020 ranges from 0.006 m / s to 0.09 m / s, while the lowest tide current that occurs in the western season ranges from 0.006 to 0.084 m / s. Abstrak Pulau Bengkalis merupakan salah satu wilayah kepulauan yang terdapat di Kabupaten Bengkalis Propinsi Riau. Karena berhadapan langsung dengan lautan yang terbuka, menyebabkan abrasi terjadi di Pantai bagian utara di Pulau Bengkalis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi pola arus akibat pasang surut di Pantai Selat Baru, Kabupaten Bengkalis dengan menggunakan model numerik (hidrodinamika) pada aplikasi MIKE21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kecepatan arus pantai selat baru, Kabupaten Bengkalis, Propinsi Riau. Berdasarkan hasil model yang diperoleh bahwa kecepatan arus saat pasang tertinggi yang terjadi pada musim barat pada tahun 2020 berkisar 0.006 m/s sampai 0.09 m/s, sedangkan kecepatan arus saat surut terendah yang terjadi pada musim barat berkisar 0.006 sampai 0.084 m/s

Abstract

Sebagai daerah yang secara geografis terletak di pesisir pantai, kota Dumai memiliki resiko terhadap banjir. Keberadaan sungai Dumai yang membelah kota Dumai merupakan pembuangan utama drainase dari beberapa kecamatan, diantaranya kecamatan Dumai Selatan, Dumai Timur dan Dumai Barat serta Dumai Kota. Penyebab banjir dikarenakan jumlah curah hujan dan kondisi tinggi muka pasang surut air laut, menyebabkan jumlah debit air yang melalui sungai, melebihi kapasitas daya tampung saluran pembuangan dan sungai. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, di dalam menganalisis dan memodelkan simulasi kemungkinan banjir yang terjadi di sungai Dumai, melalui penggunaan aplikasi permodelan hidraulika HEC-RAS. Dari hasil penelitian Daerah aliran sungai Dumai merupakan dataran rendah yang memiliki tinggi tebing/tanggul sungai yang bervariasi, baik disisi kiri maupun sisi kanan sungai. Hal ini berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan tebing/tanggul dalam menahan tinggi muka air banjir rencana atau naik turunnya air pasang laut. Dan mengakibatkan air yang melimpas tersebut mengalir kearah bantaran sungai yang memiliki kontur lebih rendah dan berpotensi menggenangi lahan dan pemukiman warga.

Abstract

Ecological restoration of peatlands leads to the destruction of peatland ecosystems caused by human activities, whether intentional or not. As a result of the damage caused various kinds of problems such as land fires. Tanjung Leban Village is one of the villages with a fairly high rate of fire, especially in 2012, 2013, and 2015. Many burnt lands are left unused, which in turn becomes a fire-prone area due to the lack of control over the land. In response to this, it is necessary to carry out peatland ecological restoration activities in Tanjung Leban Village through revegetation activities. Implementation of activities with the mentoring method through village facilitators stationed in Tanjung Leban Village. The implementation process begins with socialization, which continues with group formation, procurement of seeds, land clearing, and planting. The implementation of this revegetation focuses on the participation of the community who are members of the Peat Care Community Group (MPG) in Tanjung Leban Village. This activity was carried out in the community area (group members) with an area of 14.7 ha and 14,381 plants. The number of plants is divided into 2 categories, namely natural wood species and fruit plants.

Abstract

This study proposes a method for evaluating shelter plan for emergency evacuation prior to a tsunami based on service area analysis. The evacuation service areas are generated using both spatial and network analysis based on Geographic Information System (GIS). A case study in Pacitan city, East Java Province, Indonesia which is located in the South coastal area of Java Island, is picked as study area. The field has a possibility of suffering tsunami disaster because of the movement of Indo-Australian plate and Eurasian plate. The simulation result shows that the current evacuation shelters arranged by local government are not easy to access if tsunami occurs. About 50% of the residents do not have enough time to evacuate to the shelters because many shelters are located far from residential area. Utilizing public buildings around residential area for temporary shelters proposed in this study, about 96% residents in inundation area have sufficient time to evacuate to the shelters.

Abstract

In 2016, a number of villagers in Kampung Rawa Mekar Jaya founded a ”pokdarwis,” a group of villagers who were eager to manage a remnant of mangrove forest for ecotourism, which is situated on the bank of Rawa River. The establishment of touristic infrastructure and the continuing promotion have attracted visitors from other localities. However, the increasing number of visitors has caused damages of the existing infrastructure. During 2018-2019, Riau University’s Institute for Researches and Community Services has launched a Village Foster Program in Kampung Rawa Mekar Jaya with the objective of improving local community’s capability of managing the mangrove forest remnant, particularly by integrating ecotourism with stingless beekeeping for honey production. Some activities that have been done included: (a) mapping of mangrove forest; (b) mangrove tree naming and labelling; (c) training for mangrove eco-guiding; (d) establishment of stingless beekeeping site with enriched food plants. Members of pokdarwis showed enthusiasm by joining these activities since they were aware of the importance of these activities. However, it was the leader of the pokdarwis who has played a more important role as a motivator with remarkable attitudes, such as being honest, dependable and highly praising equality.

Abstract

Friendly peatland utilization is often regarded as ‘difficult’, ‘adding new cost,” and ‘unfavorable’ to the cultivated crops. Such views appear to restrain farmers in general to adopt friendlier methods in utilizing peatlands. In response to the call for improving their practices farmers often demand proven peat-friendly but profittable practices. Therefore, convincing evidences, such as successful farmers with such practices as models, are needed. In one of villages in Siak regency, Riau Province, we encountered a farmer figure that is potentially promoted as a model in this regard. However, after evaluating what he really practiced, we found that some improvements were needed to make his practices truly peat friendlier. Our paper concerns the results of our interactions with this figure in order to improve the: (a) control of groundwater level; (b) prevention of peat decomposition; (c) prevention of peat subsidence; (d) reduction of carbon emission; (e) diversification of the farm’s products; (f) aesthetic value of the farm; and (g) promotion to potential visitors and market the farm’s products.

Abstract

River estuary water quality analysis from the aspects of physics, chemistry and biology. Physicsaspect measured were temperature, salinity, brightness and acidity (pH). Chemistry parametersare ammonia, nitrate and nitrite. While the biology aspect of the parametersanalyxed were phytoplankton abundance. Each parameters measuredat each station withamount 16 stations. The distance of station from estuary Dumai river to Rupat strait are 25 m, 50 m and 100 m.Sample of parameter measured taken at tide receded toward and tide towards the down.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat model prediksi kedalaman muka air tanah pada lahan gambut tropis menggunakan metode regresi dengan model konseptual dan memprediksi elevasi muka air tanah untuk waktu kedepan dengan rentang waktu tertentu. Sasaran dari penelitian ini adalah mampu menganalisa serta memprediksi tinggi muka air tanah yang akurat, relatif cepat dan biaya yang relatif terjangkau. Pengembangan dari penelitian ini adalah salah satu dasar dalam pengelolaan tata air ekosistem gambut. Penelitian ini mengacu pada data cuaca yang telah direkam melalui alat SESAME. Data yang dapat direkam melalui alat SESAME adalah data curah hujan, data suhu, dan data elevasi muka air tanah yang berbentuk file csv beserta grafik. Analisis yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini berdasarkan 4 skenario permodelan, yaitu (1) dengan menggunakan panjang data 1 bulan, (2) dengan menggunakan panjang data 3 bulan, (3) dengan menggunakan panjang data 6 bulan, (4) dengan menggunakan panjang data 12 bulan. Dari 4 skenario tersebut, dapat diketahui yang lebih akurat dalam memprediksi elevasi muka air tanah untuk rentang waktu kedepan adalah dengan menggunakan panjang data 3 bulan dengan nilai korelasi (R) = 0, 77 atau 77% dengan prilaku intensitas curah hujan rendah dibulan juni dan juli, intensitas curah hujan tinggi dibulan agustus. Dengan menggunakan panjang data 3 bulan, permodelan menggunakan metode regresi mampu memprediksi tinggi muka air tanah untuk waktu 3 bulan ke depan secara akurat dengan nilai korelasi (R) = 0,98 atau 98%. Dalam studi ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode regresi dengan model konseptual mampu membuat permodelan dalam prediksi elevasi muka air tanah untuk waktu kedepan dengan rentang waktu tertentu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berkaitan dengan penggunaan ERT(Electrical Resistivity Tomography) untuk analisis karakteristik gambut dan cadangan karbon. Penggunaan ERT pada kegitan ini dibantu oleh GPS RTK untuk mengetahui koordinat dan elevasi titik yang disurvei, dan bor tangan untuk mengetahui kedalaman gambut. Penggunaan ERT dilapangan menerapkan metode transek, sehingga didapat data koordinat dan ketebalan gambut akan dapat digambarkan peta kontur ketebalan gambutnya. Hasil analisis pada 12 titik di teliti, memiliki rata-rata ketebalan gambutnya 6,19 meter. data elevasi IPP,ketebalan gambut menunjukkan bahwa ada korelasi yang relatif kuat antara elevasi tanah dan kedalaman gambut dengan R = 0,8964 dan koefisien determinasi R2 = 0,7205. Ada 72% dari elevasi tanah ditentukan oleh kedalaman gambut yang mendalam, dan 28% ditentukan oleh variabel lain. Ditemukan beberapa hasil survey geolistrik tidak sama dengan hasil bor tangan dilapangan. Cadangan karbon di pulau Bengkalis tersimpan 214,34371 Ton/ha di setiap ketebalan 50 cm. Ketebalan gambut berpengaruh terhadap muka air tanah sebesar 2,8%. Sedangkan sisanya 77,2% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain. Nilai resistivity berpengaruh terhadap kematangan gambut sebesar 3,6%. Sedangkan sisanya 96,6% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain.
