Abstract

Pumice is relatively abundant in Indonesia, especially in Cicurug District, Sukabumi. Pumice has unique characteristics, so it has the potential to be an alternative bleaching agent or a bleacher for crude palm oil. Bleaching is one of the stages in processing crude palm oil into palm cooking oil. In the cooking oil industry, the bleaching of crude palm oil generally uses bentonite as a bleacher. This research aims to determine the characteristics of pumice and the optimum conditions for the bleaching process of crude palm oil with pumice as a bleacher. The research method consists of pumice activation, activated pumice characterization, degumming of crude palm oil, bleaching of crude palm oil, and analysis of processed palm oil. The results show that the metal oxide composition in activated pumice is dominated by silica (62.99%) and alumina (14.79%) and has a non-uniform pore size distribution. Optimum bleaching conditions are achieved when using 30% pumice and a bleaching temperature of 105 oC for 30 minutes. Under optimal bleaching conditions, pumice can reduce the color brightness level of crude palm oil from 600 to 125 mg/L Pt, or a bleaching power of 79.2%.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the compliance level of Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2) in Pontianak City, explore the challenges faced by the Regional Finance Agency (BKD) in its collection process, and assess the strategies implemented to enhance tax revenue. Employing a qualitative descriptive case study approach, the research collects data through interviews, analysis of PBB-P2 revenue realization documents, and literature review. The findings reveal that taxpayer compliance remains relatively low, primarily due to limited awareness, insufficient information dissemination, and administrative issues such as undelivered physical SPPT (Tax Due Notification Letters). To address these challenges, BKD Pontianak has adopted several strategies, including simplifying payment procedures, intensifying public outreach, and conducting direct appeals to residents. This underscores the practical need for improved education and accessible tax information to foster higher compliance rates. The findings also offer valuable insights for local governments in formulating more effective public engagement strategies, such as leveraging digital platforms and offering mobile tax services. Uniquely, this study contributes original value by presenting five years of consistent PBB-P2 compliance data—an area that has received limited academic attention—while also providing deeper qualitative insights into local-level tax collection issues and solutions.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the gap between the accepted and practised Merdeka Belajar policies in the field. Based on data released by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, around 60% of teachers are still limited in mastering technology. Only 40% of teachers can learn the Merdeka Curriculum without experiencing obstacles. This has impacted the variation and readiness of all stakeholders in its operationalization in educational units. This study aims to understand teachers' perceptions as the spearhead of curriculum actors at the operational level regarding the meaning of Merdeka Learning. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, which is analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis with the help of the ATLAS.ti application. The study results show similarities and differences in perceptions between driving and non-driving teachers regarding the understanding of the concept of Merdeka Learning, its relationship to implementation and challenges. Driving teachers understand this concept better by sharing knowledge with fellow teachers and receiving support from driving schools as pioneers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. In contrast, non-driving teachers try to follow the flow by learning through other platforms, such as social media. Challenges in implementing the Independent Curriculum involve support from all stakeholders and the diversity of student characters that give rise to response variations. Differences in perception between driving and non-driving teachers regarding the concept of the Independent Curriculum affect its implementation. This study can enrich the existing literature by adding new perspectives or relevant empirical findings.

Abstract

Efficient and precise pesticide application is critical in modern agriculture, especially when using drone technology. To ensure that spraying operations are carried out accurately in the intended locations, a reliable tracking system is essential. This newly developed Agriculture Sprayer Drone Tracker addresses this need through several key improvements over traditional methods. Previously, monitoring was performed using wired connections to check the tank, but the new system employs a wireless LoRa solution housed in a robust IP67-rated enclosure for better durability and flexibility. The tracker features a custom-designed GPS board based on the u-blox F9P module, providing high-precision location data. The GPS antenna has been optimized for a more compact form factor, resulting in a smaller, more portable device. Data is logged directly to an SD card and can be quickly accessed via a USB connection. This method offers a significant improvement over previous systems that relied on web APIs, which were often slow and dependent on internet speed. With dedicated software, users can now efficiently retrieve and save tracker data to a PC. Overall, these advancements make the tracker more versatile, reliable, and user-friendly, enhancing the effectiveness of agricultural drone spraying operations.

Abstract

Research Originality — This study provides new empirical evidence on the effectiveness of the Smart Indonesia Program (Program Indonesia Pintar, or PIP), a cash transfer program specifically targeting education, in reducing the risk of school dropout among low-income students during the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike previous studies, it focuses on the differential impact across education levels using nationally representative post-pandemic data. Research Objectives — The research aims to evaluate the impact of PIP on reducing school dropout rates among students aged 6-21 years from low-income households in Indonesia. It also seeks to identify at which educational level the program has the most pronounced effect. Research Methods — This study employed the propensity score matching (PSM) method using the March 2022 National Socioeconomic Survey (SUSENAS) data. The approach controls for selection bias in estimating the causal impact of PIP on educational outcomes. Empirical Results — The findings showed that PIP significantly reduced the risk of dropout across all education levels. The most substantial impacts were observed at the junior and senior high school levels, where PIP recipients showed a lower risk of dropout than non-recipients by 2.11 and 2.04 percentage points, respectively. At the elementary level, the risk of dropout decreased by 0.34 percentage points. Implications — These results underscore the importance of expanding PIP coverage and establishing a robust monitoring system for fund utilization to enhance the program's effectiveness in promoting educational participation among poor households.
