Abstract

This research aimed to describe the implementation of inclusive education and identify the challenges students might have in English courses at SMK N 3 Singaraja. The research subjects were students with disabilities and regular students who studied at XI MM 2 (Multi-media). This research was a case study that used the descriptive qualitative method. The data collection was done by conducting a questionnaire and interview guide sequentially. The student's perception was measured from 3 aspects, namely perceiver, target, and social setting. The result from the questionnaire and interview was analyzed continuously and described descriptively. This research showed that students with disabilities and regular students have a good perception of inclusive education implementation. However, there were several challenges, such as lacking adaptation with inclusive classrooms, time, facilities, and special teachers. It implied that the teacher and school's staff should give examples, more chances, and more attention to the inclusive class students.

Abstract

The conditions that occur in Indonesia, such as environmental damage, promiscuity, etc., it is one of the important factors in the formation of moral values today starting from school. The character building become the important part in the term of learning process in Indonesia. Indonesian government made Peraturan Menteri Pendidikan Dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia Nomor 20 Tahun 2018 Tentang Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter Pada Satuan Pendidikan Formal or Permendikbud No. 20 of 2018 about Strengthening Character Education in Formal Education Units to make the character education is very important. The aims of this research is to describe and analyse the character education values contained in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel by L. Frank Baum. Descriptive qualitative research used to uses. The technique of data collection uses the document data. Data analysis techniques used in qualitative research include data reduction, analysis, data interpretation and triangulation. The result conveys about there are ten character education value contained in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel such as: honesty, tolerance, work hard, creative, love the motherland, communicative, love for peace, care for environment, social care, and be responsible.

Abstract

The important role of MSMEs being the largest business sector in its contribution to the national development is also providing the opportunity of considerable job vacancies. Creative Industry can be one of the alternatives in facing the tight competition of the world market, so that the Government have the obligation to find, support the regional potency and create the strategy of creative industry development in order to compete with  other regions and other countries. Local Economic Development focuses on endogenous development policy utilizing the potential of local human, institutional and physical resources. Whatever form of policy is taken, LED has one goal, which is increasing the number and variety of job opportunities available to the local population.

Abstract

Globalization and the growth of technology required the students and teachers to improve the learning process. The English instruction was also in-line with the implementation of the technology, such as conducting the flipped learning.  In flipped learning, the teacher enables the student to learn through the online video. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the role of video in flipped learning-based English instruction. The current study was done at SMA Negeri Bali Mandara that involved three participants. The data collection was done through observation, in-depth interviews by using an interview guide, voice record, and online video. The qualitative data was analyzed through the phase of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the students had positive responses and perceptions due to video in the learning process, which enabled them to improve their English skills.

Abstract

A language is an important tool used by men and women in communicating with many people in society. Many factors influence the way people communicate or how they use languages, such as geography, age, social status, gender, etc. A factor that can create language variation is gender. One of the language variations caused by social factors such as gender gives rise to a term called language features. This study focuses on analyzing the language features used by English Language Education students through WhatsApp Group. The purpose of this research was to answer what types of language features are used by men and women English Language Education students through WhatsApp Group. The design of this research was the descriptive qualitative method. In this study, the researchers used two instruments an observation sheet and an interview. The data were analyzed by identifying and classifying the ten types of language features proposed by Lakoff (1975). The findings showed that there were only five features that have been classified as language features used by English Language Education students on WhatsApp group. Those are lexical hedges, tag questions, rising intonation, intensifiers, and super polite forms. Each features has a function in communication.

Abstract

This article aims to examine community service activities in helping SMEs Balinese Typical Souvenir Crafts in increasing sales through marketing management and product diversification. The benefit of the activity is to increase sales turnover so that it can expand marketing reach and increase income for souvenir craft business owners. The method of activity is carried out by means of discussion, focus group discussion (FGD) as a series of stages of coaching, empowerment and assistance through the provision of trainings, seminars, as well as assistance for the production and promotion of SMEs in the center of the creative souvenir industry. Product diversification is carried out by providing handicraft training with product design innovations. While the promotion strategy is carried out by helping respondents to actively use social media such as Instagram, Facebook, using the market place as a medium for online sales. The branding strategy is through brand design and placement on the packaging, which aims to introduce the respondent's brand. The result of this community service activity was an increase in production capacity up to 75%, an increase in the types and quality of souvenirs produced and an increase in sales turnover by 60%. This can be seen from the initial and final interview data that have been conducted by the community service implementation team. The conclusion of this activity is an increase in the production of both the types and quality of souvenirs produced, an increase in sales media and an increase in sales turnover and strengthen the existence of MSMEs in welcoming the new era of normality.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the economic recovery of Bali Province in the MSME sector during the Covid-19 pandemic. To find out about technological developments in increasing business productivity. The article is a study of the results of the implementation of science and technology transfer service to partners. Descriptive study. Researchers use a library research approach through searching for sources in the form of books, journals, news or other relevant works to carry out in-depth studies and align them with the findings in the field. The sample of this research is UMKM in Bali Province which is engaged in weaving, wood and silver handicrafts with a total sample of 15 people, from 3 handicraft centers represented by 45 samples. The research analysis was conducted in a descriptive qualitative manner. The results showed that MSMEs needed economic recovery during the Covid-19 pandemic, one of which was an alternative to digitalization activities. The digitization of MSMEs has opportunities and challenges. The opportunity is that this activity will be easier to carry out, both in terms of production, distribution and consumption. The challenge is faced with the lack of human resources in accessing technology. The transfer of functions of digitalization technology can support technological developments in increasing business productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mapping of regional assets and community empowerment in tourism development in Buleleng Regency and analyze the urgent strategies to be developed in generating tourism affected by the pandemic in Buleleng Regency. This research is a descriptive field research. The research sample consisted of ± 30 people, representing 10 people each. The samples were determined purposively. The data analysis technique used a qualitative descriptive analysis technique. The results showed that mapping of regional assets and community empowerment greatly determines the rate of tourism growth in Buleleng Regency. The pentahelix synergy strategy is urgent to develop in generating tourism affected by the pandemic in Buleleng Regency. Tourism recovery in Buleleng Regency is oriented towards empowerment by looking at the potential of the area coupled with the support of related stakeholders.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the way the EFL teacher manages students’ misbehavior and a big EFL classroom at junior high school. This research applied a qualitative research method. The findings of the research showed that the teacher had fulfilled the students’ needs in the classroom. Those are the needs for survival, love or belonging, freedom, power, and fun. To fulfill the survival needs the teacher improved the students’ concentration to follow the lesson. For the needs of love or belonging, the teacher ensured the students to feel that they were cared for and had comfort in the classroom. For freedom needs, the teacher makes the students feel independent and more confident. The teacher complimented the students in fulfilling the power needs of the students. Besides, the teacher made a joke in a learning activity and by doing so the fun need was met. However, the teacher did not have a specific strategy to fulfill the students’ needs.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the classroom management practices by an EFL teacher at an inclusive school. There were four major aspects of classroom management as the focus of this research. Those are rules, physical environment, classroom climate, and teacher's role. The subject of this study was an English teacher in class XI MM 2 at SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja. This study was a case study with qualitative research design. The methods of data collection were observation and interview. The findings showed that the classroom management practices by the teacher were successful to be implemented for both the inclusive and regular students. The rules created and communicated by the teacher were effective to develop the students' behaviour and attitude as well as support the learning process. For the physical environment, the teacher provided spacious space for the physical disability student to move freely. The teacher gave positive and negative reinforcements for the students' attitude and behaviour. Besides, the teacher modified the lesson plan, instruction, and assessment based on the student's special needs. However, the teacher did not interact directly with the inclusive student's parents and it should be done to support the learning process. In addition, there was no special escort teacher and training for the teacher to support the learning process.
