Abstract

Tengkawang or known as Borneo tallow nut is now difficult to find due to unsustainable forestry practices and high levels of forest destruction. The method used in this research was pattern recognition. The process of identifying Tengkawang plants was carried out through this process: image acquisition, image cutting and background removal of tengkawang leaf image, RGB image conversion of tengkawang leaf into gray scale, threshold limit determination with certain value, feature extraction with GLCM method (spatial distance 1, 2, and 3 pixels), and morphology, so the pattern of Tengkawang leaf image could be obtained. The image pattern was classified using Back Propagation Neural Network algorithm. The output is a software for identifying the types of tengkawang leaf. The results of identification testing of non-tengkawang leaf species show that using a total of 16 random samples of test images, an accuracy of 87.5% is obtained. The identification rate of tengkawang leaf image with spatial distance of 1, 2, and 3 pixels from total 24 random sample of test image shows 100% accuracy level. Training with 2 pixel spatial spacing has the lowest iteration, i.e. 10 iterations. The result of identifying damaged tengkawang leaf image on the edge has an effect on the extraction of morphological characteristics.

Abstract

The chicken farming industry is one of the biggest food industries that supports the achievement of food security internationally. Farmers need an independent tool that can monitor the welfare conditions of chickens in cages. Using their tools, farmers can ideally detect the condition of chickens. Lameness chickens, can be known for activity and dredging of their location in the cage. Occlusion, and background in the cage are interesting challenges. By observing behavior, image handling practices can be used to identify tainted chicks and provide an early warning of sickness in chickens. In this study, you only look once, version 8 (YOLOv8) which is a convolutional neural network (CNN) network model was chosen to perform the detection, tracking, and mapping of chicken locations. YOLOv8 was combined with various algorithm optimizers to improve training performance, such as root mean square (RMS) Prop, stochastic gradient descent (SGD), ADAM, and ADAMW. Multi-object tracking algorithms such as BOT-sort and ByteTrack are also used to improve tracking performance. Based on the results, YOLOv8 with combinations of optimizer algorithms ADAMW has the best mAP, support, precision and F1-score values compared to the others, with 0.936, 0.993, 0.990, 0.991. Meanwhile, for multi object tracking, ByteTrack is faster in inference time(s) values compared to the others, with 0.2.

Abstract

Conventionally, identifying phytoplankton species is challenging due to human taxonomical knowledge limitations. Advanced technology can overcome this problem. A novel model that accurately enhances phytoplankton detection and identification classification by combining asymmetric convolution and vision transformers (ACVIT) within the YOLOv8m framework is promoted with ACVIT-YOLO. The performance of this model surpasses the original YOLOv8m model, exhibiting a notable 2.4% enhancement in precision, 5.5% improvement in recall, and 1.1% gain in mAP 50 score. The enhanced effectiveness of ACVIT-YOLO compared to the YOLOv8m model, further demonstrated by the decreased giga floating-point operations (GFLOP), decreased parameter count, and compact dimensions, significantly improves the automation of phytoplankton species identification. This suggests that the ACVIT-YOLO model could produce a better prediction system for identifying phytoplankton with similar accuracy to the original YOLOv8m model but with lower computational power and resource usage.

Abstract

Background: Evaluation of brain tumor MRI image results performed by radiologists employing the linear measurement method has several weaknesses and is sensitive to subjectivity. Purpose: To compare the results of measurements and calculations of brain tumors utilizing the linear measurement method on the Siemens 1.5 Tesla MRI modality employing pulse sequence spin echo with T1 contrast weighting compared with the results of measurements and calculations of brain tumors utilizing the active contour segmentation method. Method: An experimental study was conducted on 32 MRI images. Result: The study's findings indicated that the linear measurement was more significant than the active contour segmentation method (p-value<0,05). The results were obtained by calculating the sensitivity and specificity values of the diagnostic test, which were calculated to be 87.5%. Conclusion: The active contour segmentation method applied to pulse sequence spin-echo T1-weighted contrast can be utilized as an alternative measurement and calculation of brain tumors with a sensitivity and specificity value of 87.5%. Further research suggests developing a Matlab application to compare the results of measurements and calculations of brain tumors on acquiring 3D image magnetic resonance imaging data.

Abstract

This research is conducted with deep learning for kidney stone disease detection including cysts, stones, normal, and tumors using axial computerized tomography (CT) scan images. The author uses augmentation, generative adversarial networks (GANs), original, and synthetic minority over-sampling technique (SMOTE) to classify kidney disease (cyst, stone, normal, and tumor). This study uses the public dataset nazmul0087 and primary data/data from the hospital, using convolutional neural network (CNN) models, namely augmentation, GANs, original, and SMOTE by training and testing. The results of the accuracy value of the training model (dataset nazmul0087) in the detection of kidney cysts, stones, tumors, and normal. The results of augmentation value are 99.93%, GANs 100%, original 100%, and SMOTE 99.93%. In the results of the training model, a very high accuracy value is obtained, with perfect results. The testing model's accuracy value in detecting kidney cysts, stones, tumors, and normal kidney tissue in the original dataset and hospital data. The results of augmentation value are 11.48%, GANs 17.96%, original 21.76%, and SMOTE 20.41%. In the results of the training model, the highest accuracy value is obtained in the original model. For the testing model to automatically diagnose kidney illness and obtain a high accuracy value, which can enhance patient outcomes and save health care costs, we advise using it in conjunction with the original model.
