Abstract

Education is very important in human life, because every individual has the right to get it in order to develop. Education is seen as a process that allows a person to grow and develop their potential. According to Ki Hajar Dewantara, education aims to advance the development of the child's character, mind and body. Education has a big role in producing quality human resources and being able to compete healthily. Elementary school (SD) is an educational institution that teaches the basics of intelligence, knowledge, personality, noble character, and life skills to develop potential and prepare students to continue their education to a higher level. In this context, SD Negeri Penambangan in Curahdami sub-district, Bondowoso district was chosen to implement a social project for the Pancasila Education course. The school has limited access, a less strategic location, and a small number of students, 47 students with an average class size of less than 10. Some students also do not understand basic reading, writing and arithmetic. In addition, many of them do not eat breakfast before going to school and buy unhealthy snacks, such as fried foods and packaged drinks, during break time. The project was carried out in four stages: planning, survey, implementation and closure, with the aim of providing students with an understanding of the importance of a healthy diet and balanced nutrition. The material delivery that we use such as direct material exposure, Video playback of material, reading and writing, practice doing hand washing activities, and building puzzles. At the end of the activity, it is expected that students not only understand the theory of balanced nutrition, but also can apply it in everyday life, both at home and at school. Teachers and parents are expected to support students in choosing healthy food, and schools can create a culture of healthy living that supports students' health and learning achievement. Thus, students are expected to grow into healthy, smart, and productive individuals.

Abstract

There is still a widespread lack of control over their diet, which can negatively impact their health. Most people, especially children, ignore the consequences and are primarily driven by hunger and curiosity about food. They are more attracted to food when they find something they find unique and different. Nowadays, more and more foods are being mixed with colorings, preservatives, and flavorings, which makes children want to continue consuming them. Consuming them too often can be detrimental to their health both now and in the future. Lack of knowledge about healthy eating for children and their parents leads them to neglect the food they eat. As time progresses, food types become more diverse, such as the increasing availability of fast food and instant foods, which are easily accessible but have negative health impacts. In this journal, we took samples from elementary school students. The purpose of this journal is to introduce children, especially elementary school students, to implementing a balanced diet through the concept of "fill my plate." The method used is by delivering material in elementary school and asking questions to gauge their understanding of the material presented. The results of the activities carried out showed that many elementary school students still lack knowledge about the types of healthy foods and healthy eating patterns for the body. It can be concluded that many elementary school students still lack understanding about healthy food, due to limited access, both from their families and their economic conditions, which are inadequate to find nutritious food. Social projects related to balanced nutrition are very urgent and important as an effort to support government programs related to the health and welfare of the Indonesian people.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and identify effective strategies for improving the quality of learning in Mathematics, Art, and English subjects at SDN Locare 01 Bondowoso. The background of this research highlights several challenges in achieving optimal learning outcomes, particularly in enhancing students’ interest and connecting the learning materials with real-life contexts. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and the school principal, as well as document analysis of curriculum materials and students’ learning outcomes. The learning improvement strategies explored include the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) in Mathematics, project-based learning for Art and English subjects, and the integration of simple technology and interactive learning media to create more engaging learning experiences. The findings indicate that integrated learning strategies focusing on active student participation significantly improve conceptual understanding, creativity, and learning motivation. These results align with Wahyuni (2016), who found that contextual learning helps students connect mathematical concepts with daily life situations. Similarly, Marni (2022) emphasized that project-based learning in Art effectively fosters students’ creativity and collaboration, while Ajiza and Rahman (2021) demonstrated that Audio-Lingual and Total Physical Response (TPR) methods increase elementary students’ motivation in learning English. This study recommends enhancing teacher collaboration, providing continuous professional development, and conducting regular evaluations to sustain innovative learning practices and ensure the continuous improvement of education quality at SDN Locare 01 Bondowoso.

Abstract

Self-confidence is an important psychological factor that influences elementary school students' participation and courage in the learning process. However, teacher-centered learning often limits students' active involvement, resulting in low self-confidence, especially in oral communication. This community service activity aims to analyze the effect of interactive learning on increasing students' self-confidence at Sumber Dumpyong 3 Elementary School in Bondowoso Regency. The activity was carried out using a pretest-posttest design with a descriptive quantitative approach. There were 40 students in grades I-VI, aged 7-12 years, who participated in the activity. The interactive learning intervention was carried out during the period of August 30 to October 17, 2025, with a duration of 2 × 35 minutes for each learning session. Self-confidence was measured using a closed questionnaire consisting of 10 statements in the pretest and 10 statements in the posttest, with a maximum total score of 40. Data analysis was performed by calculating the average score and normalized gain (N-gain) to determine the increase in students' self-confidence after the intervention. The results showed a pretest average score of 22.71, which increased to 30.22 on the posttest. The N-gain calculation yielded a value of 0.30, which falls into the moderate category. These findings were supported by classroom observations that showed an increase in students' courage to ask questions, participate in discussions, and express their opinions. Thus, interactive learning has been proven to have a positive impact on strengthening the self-confidence and participation of elementary school students, although a longer intervention period is needed to achieve optimal improvement.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance elementary school students’ reading literacy and financial literacy through an interactive, enjoyable, and contextual educational approach. The program was implemented at SDN Badean 03, Bondowoso District, Bondowoso Regency, involving 36 students from grades 1 to 6. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, documentation, as well as pre-tests and post-tests. Reading literacy activities were focused on grades 1 and 2 through read-aloud sessions and vocabulary games, while financial literacy activities targeted grades 3 to 6 through the creation of piggy banks from recycled materials and saving simulations. The results indicated an improvement in basic reading skills, as reflected by a shift in students’ reading ability categories, with the percentage of students in the moderately fluent category increasing from 22.22% in the initial condition to 33.33% in the final condition, accompanied by a decrease in the less fluent category. These findings suggest that the literacy interventions were effective in supporting students with lower reading proficiency to progress to higher levels. In addition to cognitive improvement, the program also had positive effects on students’ affective aspects, including increased self-confidence, responsibility, and learning enthusiasm. Therefore, this integrated literacy program is effective in fostering a reading culture and enhancing financial awareness among students from an early age.

Abstract

Bullying in schools and low awareness of environmental conservation are two important issues that need to be addressed early on. UNESCO data (2019) shows that globally, nearly one in three students experience bullying. In Indonesia, the KPAI Survey (2022) noted an increase in bullying cases, with 51% occurring in elementary schools, indicating the urgency of early intervention. This activity evaluated the effectiveness of education in increasing students' knowledge about bullying prevention and their understanding and skills in recycling. Participatory methods such as interactive stories, simulations, and creative workshops involved 42 students. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement. A total of 85% of 3rd and 4th grade students were able to identify forms of bullying and how to deal with them. Meanwhile, 90% of students in grades 3 to 6 successfully created recycled products and their awareness of the importance of environmental cleanliness increased. The interactive and direct educational approach proved to be effective. The integration of these two topics into the school program is recommended to shape students' character to be socially and environmentally conscious in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) program was motivated by the low early reading ability of grade 1 students and limited digital literacy skills of grade 5 students at SDN Curahdami 2, Bondowoso, which affected their learning process and readiness for the Computer-Based National Assessment (ANBK). The program aimed to improve pre-literacy, beginning reading skills, and digital literacy through structured ANBK training activities. The implementation methods included initial observation, intensive mentoring, and hands-on practice conducted over seven weeks using letter tables, reading modules, phonics cards, ANBK practice modules, and digital devices such as laptops and mobile phones. Participants consisted of 16 students, including 7 students from grade 1 and 9 students from grade 5. Evaluation employed a one-group pre–post design to measure changes after the intervention. The results showed improvements in grade 1 students’ pre-literacy skills, with letter recognition increasing from 8% to 48%, differentiation between uppercase and lowercase letters from 5% to 42%, and word copying skills from 10% to 40%, although beginning reading ability remained relatively low (from 5% to 16%). For grade 5 students, the average digital literacy score increased from 32 to 58, the proportion of students able to complete ANBK practice packages rose from 5% to 35%, and overall learning mastery improved from 8% to 38%. These findings indicate that mentoring-based ANBK training within a community service framework is effective in strengthening basic literacy and digital literacy foundations and improving elementary school students’ readiness for computer-based assessments.
