Abstract

Adherence of HIV/AIDS patients in ARV therapy is an important factor in the success of HIV/AIDS treatment because continuous ARVs can suppress the development of the virus, reduce viral resistance, improve the HIV/AIDS patient's quality of life, and improve their health in general. This study aimed to review the literature that has researched factors related to the non-adherence of HIV/AIDS patients in taking ARV therapy. The research conducted an empirical analysis related to the aspects of adherence of HIV/AIDS patients to antiretroviral therapy (ART).  A total of 71 kinds of literature discusses the adherence of patients with HIV/AIDS to treatment with ARVs. Literature was obtained based on searches on the Scopus website for the year 2019-2023. The literature is dominant in 2019 and has decreased over time. The publication is predominantly in Q1-indexed journals, with the first author coming from the USA. General factors that become ART adherence based on the literature include finance, mental health, alcohol consumption, drug abuse, belief, self-efficacy, knowledge, homeless, support, and tobacco/smoking. The most commonly encountered factors are support and mental health. The further suggestions for medical personnel or patients with HIV/AIDS and their families to be more synergistic in carrying out medical therapy.

Abstract

Despite the enactment of a specific law on domestic violence, the elimination of violence in the household is still an elusive target in Indonesia. For example, according to the National Commission on Anti Violence Against Women, a large number of Muslim divorces in the Religious Courts have involved domestic violence. This article discusses the opportunities and challenges for eliminating domestic violence in Indonesian Muslim society. Employing both normative and socio-legal analysis, it finds that the state is unable to resolve the existing conflict between the requirements of the Law – which oblige the state to amend conflicting legislation – and the provisions of both civil and Islamic marriage laws, which create the potential for violence against women in the household. These include gender role stereotypes, the fuzziness of the obedience concept (nushūz) and linking maintenance to a wife’s obedience, and the ambiguity of marriage validity. This necessitates the reformation of Indonesian marriage laws.

Abstract

Improving healthcare service quality required both technical and interpersonal enhancements through a personalized approach, as demonstrated by the “Duta We Care” program at a Central General Hospital in Padang. This study aimed to evaluate the program’s effectiveness by analyzing patient feedback from Google Reviews. A descriptive quantitative design examined 2,035 patient reviews from March 2013 to June 2024. Using NVivo 12 software, the data analysis generated word clouds. The results showed that 68.20% of reviews received a 5-star rating, 9.48% a 4-star rating, 4.35% a 3-star rating, 2.27% a 2-star rating, and 15.70% a 1-star rating. Words like “friendly,” “professional,” “fast,” and “good” frequently appeared, which highlighted patient appreciation for the program’s interpersonal aspects. The “Duta We Care” program successfully raised patient satisfaction, evident from the increased ratings from 3.8 to 4.6. It was determined that staff friendliness and professionalism played a key role in this improvement. However, complaints about waiting times and limited facilities suggested the need for further operational and infrastructural enhancements.

Abstract

This study aimed to review various studies focusing on pollution that could adversely affect health, including sources, types, and mitigation efforts. The data used were obtained through a search on the Scopus website using the keywords "Health" AND "Pollution" from 2016 to 2023. Using these two keywords, 72 titles and abstracts of papers were successfully found. The results of this literature review were then analyzed with the assistance of NVivo 12 Pro, which grouped the findings based on their impact on health, reasons for pollution, types of pollution, and preventive measures. It was identified that the most common disease was respiratory disorder. One of the leading causes was vehicle combustion, emitting carbon monoxide due to the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, such as petroleum and natural gas. This study also revealed that the dominant focus of those studies was on air and water pollution. These studies also indicated that solutions to pollution-causing diseases generally include using renewable fuels, waste management, public health literacy, and adopting electric vehicles.
