Abstract

This Study aimed to determine the effect of guided inquiry-based learning model with Natural Environment Exploration (JAS) approach on the topic of sensory system on student’s Sciencetific Process Skills (SPS) as well as determining the increase of students’ SPS. The type of this study was quasi-experimental with non-equivalent control group design. Subjects in this study were students from grade XI of class MIA 4 as the control and XI MIA 5 as the treatment group. The independent variable was the guided inquiry-based learning model with JAS approach on the topic of sensory system, while the dependent variable was students’ SPS. Students’ SPS was measured by pre-test and post-test consist of 30 questions. The result of data analysis showed that the guided inquiry-based learning model with JAS approach had a significant effect on students’ SPS, with the value of determination coefficient at 0.374. Students’ SPS increased after the treatment with the average N-gain of treatment group at 0.27. The result of the study concludes that the implementation of guided inquiry-based learning model by JAS approach on the topic of sensory system affects and increases the students’ SPS, especially in the aspect of interpreting data, communicating, designing experiment, formulating hypotheses and classifying

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of Project Based Learning ecosystems dioramas with Jelajah Alam Sekitar approach against students’ critical thinking ability and creativity, and to analyze the relationship between critical thinking ability and students' creativity in Project Based Learning ecosystems dioramas with Jelajah Alam Sekitar approach. This research method is pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test one group design. The results showed that Project Based Learning ecosystems dioramas with Jelajah Alam Sekitar approach was effective against students' critical thinking ability and creativity. The average of critical thinking ability in post-test is 84.96 and average of creativity in post-test is 84.50. The completeness of classical learning shows "High" criteria, the classical completeness rate in post-test of critical thinking and creativity is same (89.21%). The results of the N-gain mean on the test scores of critical thinking ability and creativity are in the "High" criteria. N-gain of critical thinking ability shows "High" category (66.66%) and N-gain creativity shows "High" category (79.42%). The results of the analysis of the two average difference test (one right side) on the critical thinking ability test has t table of 1.97 < t count of 20.89. The creativity test has t table of 1.97 < t count of 31.80, so it shows a significant difference between the achievements at the pre-test and post-test. Based on these results it can be concluded that the Project Based Learning ecosystems dioramas with Jelajah Alam Sekitar approach are effective against students' critical thinking ability and creativity. The relationship between critical thinking ability and creativity shows the relation of 0.38, has a "Low" criteria, so it can be concluded that the relationship between critical thinking ability and student creativity in Project Based Learning ecosystems dioramas with Jelajah Alam Sekitar approach is low.

Abstract

MA Negeri Rembang and MA Mu'allimin Mu'allimat Rembang are religious-based schools but there has been no integration between science religions in every learning and still lack of teaching materials. There is no book that integrates religion in biological material. The purpose of this research is to produce materials to teach human reproductive system with religious science insight and to improve the critical thinking ability of MA students. The research and development design (R&D), the development model used by ADDIE using 2 classes as the research subjects: XI- science of MA Negeri Rembang and XI- science of MA Mu'allimin Mu'allimat Rembang. The instruments used were tests and non-tests, which consisted of 10 question items to measure students' critical thinking abilities, validation questionnaires, teacher and student responses questionnaires, and also interview guides. The result of the syllabus validation from the material expert gave an average score of 0,85 and the media expert gave an average score of 0,95. The validation results of lesson plan from material experts gave an average score of 0,83 and media experts gave an average score of 0,98. The results showed that the valid teaching materials were excellent categories. The material expert gave an average score of 4,25 and media experts gave an average score of 5. The average responses score from MA Negeri Rembang’s teachers was 85 and MA Mu'allimin Mu'allimat Rembang’s teachers was 79. The average score of MA Negeri Rembang students' responses to the teaching materials reached 98 and MA Mu'allimin Mu'allimat Rembang students was 97. Based on pre-test and post-test results for simple argumentation ability indicators obtained an average score of N-gain students MA Negeri Rembang 0,75 and MA Mu'allimin Mu'allimat Rembang 0,70. The indicator of ability to connect between concepts obtained an average score of N-gain in MA Negeri Rembang of 0,69 and MA Mu'allimin Mu'allimat of 0,76. The average post-test result score for the indicator of ability to connect between the concepts of MA Negeri Rembang reached 89,64 and MA Mu'allimin Mu'allimat reached 86.73, while the indicator of ability to give simple arguments MA Negeri Rembang reached 88,73 and MA Mu'allimin Mu'allimat reached 86,82. It can be concluded that teaching materials of human reproductive system religious science insight was valid and contributed to improve the ability of critical thinking students. Therefore, teaching materials can be used in the learning of the human reproductive system.

Abstract

This present study aimed at producing a feasible learning design employing problem-based learning with mind mapping model to develop the ability of critical and creative thinking for Junior high school students in the excretory system material. This research belongs to Research and Development following ADDIE research model without including the implementation stage. The stages which were adopted in this research stopped on the development stage. The products of the developed learning design are lesson plan, learning module, student worksheet, and test instrument. The data collection technique of this research was validation by seven validators involving expert lecturers and science teachers to examine the validity and quality of the learning design. The validation analysis result showed that the learning design is categorized into “very valid” criteria in each scoring aspect. Based on that analysis, the learning design is valid and is able to be tested in the learning activity. However, the validators gave comment and suggestion which were used to improve the products. The test instrument was tested for students and its result was analyzed to figure out the validity, reliability, level of difficulty, and discriminating power of the test items. Based on the items analysis, six question items are classified as valid, reliable, having a moderate level of difficulty, and having a good discriminating power. The final result of this research produces a development product of leaning design that is feasible to be brought into testing.

Abstract

Rembang is famous for the marine products as one of the main commodities. This is inseparable from the large number of Fish Auction Houses (TPI) in several sub-districts located on the north coast of Rembang that contribute marine products to support the economic sector in Rembang Regency. TPI is a market where fishermen can land the fish they get and serve as a place to sell them and various other marine products. The Species of Fish in TPI Rembang Regency have a potential to be used as a learning resource in the form of an encyclopedia, and a function as a learning supplement. The method of the study was modified research and development (R&D) of Borg & Gall (2003). The encyclopedia's feasibility level validation refers to the modified BSNP 2014 standard of teaching material feasibility, which includes four components of feasibility, namely content, language, presentation, and graphics. Validity and feasibility test of the encyclopedia was carried out by students using a gaps test to measure the readability and the questionnaire responses of students to the encyclopedia. The percentage of feasibility the encyclopedia by biology experts and teacher reached 90.23% with very feasible criteria. The percentage of readability of the encyclopedia through the gap test reached 98.22% with high level criteria. The percentage of students' responses to the encyclopedia through questionnaires reached 88.9%. The high readability level and very feasible criteria resulting from this study indicate that the encyclopedia developed is feasible for use as a source of high school biology learning.
