Abstract

The rise and growing prevalence of juvenile delinquency is a matter of concern for many parties. This study aims to establish a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire that can be deployed to assess the learning environment perceived by high school students. This research endeavor constitutes a developmental study, wherein the outcomes are a single survey instrument encompassing six variables, nineteen indicators, and forty questions. The data-collecting process involved the utilization of a Google Form across five schools in five districts, containing a total of 1615 participants. The analysis of expert data was conducted utilizing V. Aiken and field trials employing confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) Second Order. The findings of this study indicate that the diagnostic survey instrument used to assess the learning environment's impact on the mental health of high school students demonstrated validity, as evidenced by loading factor values exceeding the established minimal threshold. The reliability of the instrument remains insufficient. This survey can be utilized to detect adolescent persistent tendencies carried out by students or other school members that interfere with mental health: the emergence and significant raising of juvenile delinquency.

Abstract

The article examine gender discourse channelled through Suara Aisyiyah magazine, part of Aisiyah, woman organization, with a gender perspective discoursed through online media. However, representations of gender discourse vary in different spaces and times, as well as different agents and contexts. Likewise with ways to channel ideas about gender that are part of the organization’s vision. To capture the transformation of gender discourse with online media, this study uses a historical approach with discourse analysis. Discourse analysis method to describe text and context will be used in data analysis. The periodization which is the starting point of this research is 2000-2021 (contemporary period). The digital platform is used to more broadly discuss the progressive Islamic identity that is carried by Suara ‘Aisyiyah, in that period. As we understand, online media has carried many identities, thus allowing “crossing” and “collision”. The various discourses raised by the Suara ‘Aisyiyah print newspaper clearly show the vision of the ‘Aisyiyah and Muhammadiyah organizations, such as the position of women in politics and women’s access to health and nutrition. Through preaching on social media, the spirit of equality was built by ‘Aisyiyah in all walks of life, such as by promoting the Elimination of Domestic Violence.

Abstract

The Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) course plays an essential role in the cultural adaptation at Indonesian universities. However, the precise impact on student cultural integration and academic success has received little attention. This study investigates the impact of BIPA on cultural adaptation of international students, focusing on diverse cultural backgrounds. A mixed methods approach was used, with 123 international students questioned using a Google form survey, and 12 conducting in-depth phone calls to gather the required data. The results show that BIPA significantly improves language proficiency and cultural understanding. Language barriers emerge as the primary challenges to adaptation, emphasising the importance of language acquisition. Tailored support mechanisms within Indonesian universities are deemed essential to meet the diverse needs of international students. The recommendations include optimising BIPA programs and creating supportive environments for students.

Abstract

The focus of this paper is to discuss the catechesis of the Catholic Church on marriagecharacterized by monogamy and lifelong according to the Code of Canon Law, No. 1056. In essence, marriage has the characteristics of being sacred, monogamous, and lifelong. These characteristics or traits of marriage are not only owned by the Catholic Church, but all religions in the world have the same characteristics. The author argues that the main causes of marital disharmony are breaking marital vows and not forgiving each other. The Catholic Church reiterates that if there is a misunderstanding from one of the spouses, they should forgive, love and forgive each other. Jesus Christ himself has taught to forgive each other, but the Catholic faithful cannot live and follow the example of Jesus Christ. The two methodologies used in writing this article are phenomenological and text analysis. In understanding the characteristics of marriage in the Catholic Church, the author uses Scripture, the Church document Gaudium Et Spes, the Familiaris Consortio document, the magisterium: Encyclical Humanae Vitae, and the Code of Canon Law. In addition, the author uses references from books and journals that are directly related to the theme of this article. The findings conveyed from the writing of this article are that it contains an invitation, namely how to live a marriage characterized by monogamy (unitas) and for life. Indeed, these characteristics of marriage have been written in the Old Testament (OT) and fulfilled by Jesus in the NT. So man cannot deny the statements of the Holy Scriptures and it has become the law of his nature. The author affirms that a valid and normal Catholic marriage is between a man and a woman. Key Words: Marriage; Catholic Marriage; Monogamy; Lifetime

Abstract

Learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic requires lecturers to be able to adapt by using online learning platforms. As a result, there are different perceptions of students regarding the effectiveness of each of these platforms. The study aimed to analyze differences in students' perceptions about the effectiveness of using WhatsApp, Google Classroom, and Zoom platforms. This research method uses quantitative methods to measure the level of perception and is combined with qualitative methods to analyze student perception. The data collection method is done by distributing questionnaires through Google forms to students. The analysis used is a quantitative analysis using statistical calculation and qualitative analysis to analyze student perception. The results showed that the difference in perception in WhatsApp and Google Classroom usage was significant with an average difference of 16.933 which means WhatsApp’s perception levels are higher than Google Classroom. The difference in perception in WhatsApp and Zoom usage is significant with an average difference of 15.2 which means WhatsApp's perception level is higher than zoom. The difference in perception in Zoom and Google Classroom usage is insignificant with an average difference of 1.733 which means Zoom’s perception rate is slightly higher than Google Classroom. The study concluded that student perceptions were higher on the WhatsApp Group platform, then zoom, and finally Google Classroom. Online learning should first use the WhatsApp platform, then zoom, and finally Google Classroom.

Abstract

Motivation to learn English is essential for university students worldwide, as it impacts engagement and success in both general and specific academic contexts. However, prior research has seldom focused on motivation in English for Specific Purposes (ESP), especially in particular fields or majors, and is particularly limited in universities in Eastern Indonesia. This study aims to explore the factors of motivation among students in ESP programs and to identify which are most and least effective in supporting their learning. 150 students from universities in Eastern Indonesia participated in this study. Employing both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, students completed a quantitative questionnaire on their learning motivation, with data analyzed using SPSS 27. Additionally, qualitative data were collected through focus group interviews with 16 participants who had completed ESP courses, providing further insights into their opinions on ESP learning. The findings reveal that students are highly motivated by factors such as encouragement to communicate and collaborate with peers, clarity and ease of classroom instructions, and fairness and consistency in assessments. Moreover, the lecturer’s role in creating a positive classroom atmosphere was noted as a significant motivational factor. However, a lack of alignment between classroom activities and students’ specific fields often leads to disengagement. These results offer valuable references for ESP lecturers seeking to adopt practices that better motivate students, particularly by emphasizing career relevance and supportive learning environments.

Abstract

Education quality assurance is one of the important instruments in realizing quality and sustainable education. This study aims to determine and analyze the impact of the implementation of quality assurance standards on improving the quality of education at MI Terpadu Bina Insan Rabbani. The approach used is qualitative with a case study method. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of quality assurance standards has had a positive impact on several important aspects, such as increased teacher competence, learning effectiveness, more organized school management, and parental satisfaction with education services. However, there are still some obstacles in the implementation, such as limited human resources, high administrative burden and the need for continuous training for all school elements. This study recommends the need to strengthen internal supervision programs, increase the capacity of teachers and education personnel, and integrate the quality assurance system into the overall school work culture so that the quality of education can be continuously improved.
