Abstract

Plastic waste is a pollution problem in coastal areas, and this issue has become a global concern that requires serious attention, especially for archipelagic countries like Indonesia. This community service program aims to reduce plastic pollution at Elak-Elak Beach, West Lombok, and raise environmental awareness among the local community. Conducted in September 2023, the program involved the participation of nearly 200 students and 12 lecturers from the Marine Science Program at the University of Mataram, along with several local community members. Through scheduled beach clean-up activities, the program successfully collected approximately 10 bags, equivalent to 50-70 kg of waste, with plastic dominating the types of waste found. In addition to waste reduction efforts, the program also indirectly educated the local community about the impacts of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems, successfully increasing participants' awareness after the activities. Although the program showed positive results, challenges remain in waste management and the lack of adequate facilities. Therefore, ongoing collaboration between the community, government, and relevant organizations is essential to preserve Elak-Elak Beach and educate the public on the importance of proper environmental management.

Abstract

TWP Gita Nada is one of the water conservation areas in NTB Province whose reef fish resources are used by fishers around the area, especially in zones that are permitted for fishing activities. However, there are indications that the use of the area by fishers causes a decrease in the abundance and biomass of reef fish in TWP Gita Nada. Therefore, it is necessary to research the condition of reef fish stocks in TWP Gita Nada to know for certain about the availability of reef fish resources in the area. This study collected data at 11 fish landing sites around TWP Gita Nada from March 2017 to December 2021. Data were collected using a sampling technique on 35% of the total fish landing activity in TWP Gita Nada. Data consisted of fishing units, fishing operations, fishing areas, catches, fish species, and fish length. Data analysis in this study used a length-based stock assessment approach to identify the condition of reef fish stocks and their utilization status. The results indicated that 271 species of reef fish landed in the TWP Gita Nada waters conservation area were identified from 31 family groups dominated by fish of the species Lutjanus gibbus, Lethrinus ornatus, Acanthurus mata, Naso thynnoides, and Lethrinus rubrioperculatus. Among those four dominant reef fish species, Lutjanus gibbus is in fully exploited utilization status with an SPR value of 0.26 or 26%. Meanwhile, the other three types of reef fish are under-exploited with SPR values above 0.3 or 30%. Keywords: fishing, Lc, length-based approach, Lm, SPR.

This species has a life cycle that is entirely at sea, but has the potential to be cultivated in ponds of low salinity. This study was conducted to determine the effect of different salinity on larval rearing on the survival rate and degree of abnormality larvae silver pompano fish larvae (T. blochii). This research was conducted in June 2014 in Lombok Marine Aquaculture Development Center Aquaculture Department Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Station Sekotong, West Lombok regency, West Nusa Tenggara Provinceby using a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of five salinity treatments (34, 31, 28, 25, and 22 ppt) with 5 replications. The results showed that silver pompano fish larvae age Save D17-D35 is able to survive at salinity 22-34 ppt with a survival rate of over 90%. However, in less than 31 ppt salinity, larvae abnormality silver pompano Save increased with decreasing salinity. Keywords: Survival rate, abnormality, Silver pompano, salinity.

Abstract

The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is the largest fish species in the world that is not aggressive to humans, so it has become a popular tourist icon. The presence of whale sharks has become a tourist magnet and has transformed Botubarani Village from an ordinary fishing village into a bustling tourist village. However, the Covid19 pandemic has dealt a severe blow to whale shark tourism on the coast of Botubarani Village. The drastic reduction in tourists not only eliminates tourist income but also stops whale shark monitoring activities. The government's New Normal pilot is the hope for the return of whale shark tourism on the coast of Botubarani Village. Preparations for the opening of PPKM in the area of origin of tourists and the ease of domestic/foreign travel will be greeted with an increase in the quality and innovation of whale shark tourism at Botubarani Beach. In addition, the adaptation of tourism during the pandemic by utilizing the internet is quite promising so that tourism will stay alive. The Innovation Village of Botubarani develops a live broadcast of an underwater virtual cruise with whale shark objects periodically in the wild. This development is the first in Indonesia because it has never been done before. The use of underwater closed circuit television (CCTV) that can be accessed on land and integrated with the internet allows whale sharks on Botubarani Beach to be enjoyed by anyone and anywhere. Villages and communities on Botubarani Beach can receive input from ongoing tourism developments from tourists who come or virtually. Tourists may also be interested in coming after watching a live broadcast of whale sharks on the beach of Botubarani Village. Abstract

This study aims to improve students' disciplinary character through the implementation of morning assemblies at MIS AL-Fatah Siiyang. Discipline is a fundamental aspect of character education that significantly influences students' academic and social development. However, observations in the initial stages of this research revealed that many students lacked punctuality, failed to follow school rules consistently, and showed limited engagement in morning routines. Therefore, a classroom action research (CAR) design was employed, consisting of two cycles with stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants in this study were 25 students in the fifth grade during the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected using observation sheets, field notes, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings indicate that the implementation of morning assemblies significantly improved students’ disciplinary behaviors. In the first cycle, students began to show improvements in punctuality and participation, but inconsistencies were still noted. After adjustments and enhancements in the second cycle including more structured routines, motivational messages, and active student involvement the number of students arriving on time increased from 56% to 88%, while adherence to school rules rose from 62% to 91%. In addition, teachers reported improved student attitudes, such as respect, responsibility, and cooperation. These results suggest that morning assemblies, when implemented consistently and meaningfully, can serve as an effective strategy to foster discipline among elementary school students. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the importance of integrating character education into daily school routines. The morning assembly, as a simple yet impactful practice, offers a strategic platform to shape students’ behavior and instill positive values from an early age. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on character development in Islamic elementary schools and offers practical insights for educators seeking to enhance student discipline through school-wide initiatives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reception of the "Kelewar" fanbase towards the identity transformation or rebranding carried out by the band .Feast. This transformation includes changes in aesthetics, ideology, and musical direction that are quite significant, and have caused various responses from fans. Using a qualitative approach with the reception analysis method according to Stuart Hall, this study classifies audience responses into three categories: dominant-hegemonic, negotiation, and opposition. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with active fanbase members, as well as documentation of their interactions on social media. The results of the analysis show that most fans are in a dominant-hegemonic position by fully supporting the changes, the rest are able to accept some elements of the changes while questioning the new values brought by the band. There are also fans who reject it, because they feel that the forum for political critics with a commercial style has been lost. This study shows that the fanbase is not only passive, but active in reinterpreting the new symbols and identities offered by the artist. These findings strengthen the importance of the audience perspective in the study of popular culture, especially in the context of Indonesian independent music.
