Abstract

Hiyung chili is a type of chili found in Hiyung Village, Tapin District, South Kalimantan with a spiciness rate of 94,500 ppm. Bat manure is a fertilizer that contains elements of N, P, and K which are important for plant growth and development and are expected to increase nutrient content in the soil. This study aims to determine the effect and the best dosage of bat manure on the growth and yield of Hiyung chili on ultisol. Ultisol is a soil that has low organic matter, yellowish-red soil, acidic soil reaction, low base saturation, high Al content, low nutrient content such as N, P, and K. This study used a single factor CRD consisting of 5 treatment levels, namely k0 = 0 t.ha-1, k1 = 1 t.ha-1, k2 = 2 t.ha-1, k3 = 3 t.ha-1, k4 = 4 t.ha-1. The results of this study showed that giving several doses of bat manure fertilizer significantly affected plant growth, leaf size, fresh fruit weight, cropping, and crop production. The best bat manure doses to increase growth and yield of hiyung chili plants at a dose of 3 t.ha-1

Abstract

Acid sulfate soils are one of the potential lands for agriculture with appropriate treatment. The main problem in these soils is the chemical properties, which is high in acidity and limited nutrients availability and Fe and Al toxicity. Amelioration techniques are needed to improve the chemical properties of the soil, which is oyster mushroom baglog waste compost. This research aims to study the effect of oyster mushroom baglog waste (OMBW) compost to soil chemical properties, also to know the best dosage which affects chemical properties. The research was conducted at the greenhouse of the Agroecotechnology Department and the Laboratory of the Soil Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarbaru. The research was started from August-October 2020. One-factor completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and five replications was used, the b0 treatment was not OMBW compost, b1 was 5 t ha-1, b2 was 10 t ha-1, b3 was 15 t ha-1, and b4 was 20 t ha-1. The application of the OMBW compost significantly affected the soil pH and decreased soluble-Fe and Al, but did not significantly affect the Eh value at 2 WAA (Week After Application). The best concentration of dose of OMBW compost was 10 t ha-1 which improved soil pH, decreased soluble-Fe and Al.

Abstract

Edamame, as an essential food ingredient, has the potential to be developed with a high level of market demand every year. The ability of edamame cultivated on all types of soil has the opportunity to be introduced to the residents of Cempaka Village, Banjarbaru. The introduction of integrated pest control-based cultivation and land management using compost media from agricultural waste by considering environmental sustainability needs to be conveyed and later applied to build environmentally friendly sustainable agrarian concepts. The purpose of this Community Service Activity is to educate and train the skills of the people of Cempaka Village, Banjarbaru City, regarding organic edamame cultivation to improve the quality of edamame cultivation and production sustainably. The method used in this activity is a classical approach in the form of lectures and distributing knowledge questionnaires before and after the extension material. The results of the pre-activity questionnaire showed that 65% of participants only knew about edamame, compost, and organic fertilizers but not about integrated pest control techniques. After the activity, participants' knowledge increased by approximately 100%, hoping that the Cempaka Village community could apply it in the field.

Abstract

Kale merupakan jenis sayuran daun yang memiliki potensi besar untuk dibudidayakan di Kalimantan Selatan karena harga jual yang tinggi. Namun dalam proses budidayanya tanaman kale memiliki banyak kendala, salah satunya dikarenakan lahan yang berkembang di Kalimantan Selatan tergolong tidak subur seperti lahan gambut. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan adanya penambahan unsur hara berupa pupuk hijau dari limbah sayur hidroponik. Berkembangnya usaha budidaya hidroponik di Kalimantan Selatan mengakibatkan banyaknya limbah sayuran hidroponik yang tidak termanfaatkan. Tentu limbah tersebut memiliki potensi yang besar untuk digunakan menjadi pupuk hijau. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui potensi limbah sayur hidroponik dalam meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kale di tanah gambut. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus-November 2020, di Rumah Kaca Jurusan Agroekoteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Lambung Mangkurat Banjarbaru, Kalimantan Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktor tunggal dengan perlakuan yaitu k0 (+) = pupuk urea 200 kg.ha-1, k0 (-) = limbah sayur hidroponik 0 ton.ha-1, k1 = limbah sayur hidroponik 3   ton.ha-1, k2 = limbah sayur hidroponik 6 ton.ha-1, k3 = limbah sayur hidroponik 9 ton.ha-1, k4 = limbah sayur hidroponik 12 ton.ha-1. Perlakuan diulang sebanyak empat kali, sehingga terdapat 24 satuan percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dosis 3 ton.ha-1, 6 ton.ha-1, 9 ton.ha-1, dan 12 ton.ha-1 limbah sayur hidroponik berpotensi dalam meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan bobot segar daun kale di tanah gambut dibandingkan dengan 200 kg.ha-1 pupuk urea dan 0 ton.ha-1 limbah sayur hidroponik.

Abstract

In recent years, the amount of coffee consumption by the Indonesian people has increased. As a result, there is an increase in coffee waste in the form of coffee grounds so it has the potential to have a negative impact on the environment. Proper management is needed so that coffee grounds are not wasted and pollute the environment. Composting is one way to convert coffee grounds into organic fertilizer. The provision of decomposers is useful for accelerating the composting process of coffee grounds so that it affects the quality of the compost produced. This study aims to determine the chemical quality of coffee grounds compost using different decomposers based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19-7030-2004. This research was carried out in the Compost House Department of Agroecotechnology and Soil Laboratory Department of Soil Faculty of Agriculture, Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarbaru for three months, from June to August 2021. This research uses quantitative methods (laboratory analysis) to determine the chemical quality of coffee grounds compost. The treatments were decomposers, d1 = EM4, d2 = M21, d3 = Beka, and d4 = Petro Gladiator. The results showed that the use of EM4, M21, BeKa, and Petro Gladiator decomposers produced organic C, total N, P2O5, K2O, Ca, Mg, and C/N ratio of coffee grounds compost in accordance with SNI 19-7030-2004, but the pH value of coffee grounds compost treated with EM4, M21, BeKa, and Petro Gladiator decomposers did not meet SNI 19-7030-2004.

Abstract

Oyster mushroom baglog waste that is not used properly will cause problems such as environmental pollution, and can also be a source of pollution for cultivated oyster mushrooms. Composting is an alternative to the management of oyster mushroom baglog waste. However, the compost must also be of good quality, the quality of the compost can be determined both by the physical and chemical properties of compost. Given the importance of compost quality, compost must refer to the standard criteria that have been determined. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the physical quality (temperature, aroma, and color) and chemical (pH, organic C, total N, ratio C/N, total P, and total K) compost of oyster mushroom baglog waste based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19-7030-2004, corn seed germination, and rice root growth on acid sulfate soil applied to oyster mushroom baglog waste compost. The results showed that the compost of oyster mushroom baglog waste had complied with the SNI, where the parameters of the compost had met SNI, namely: temperature 33 oC, blackish-brown color, smell like soil, organic C 14.38%, N 0.74%, ratio C/N 19.43, P 0.50%, K 0.35%, and the percentage of germination of corn seeds of Exsotic Pertiwi Varieties was 97% of germinated seeds. The application of oyster mushroom baglog waste compost at a dose of 20 ton.ha-1 was able to increase the root length of rice in acid sulfate soils.

Abstract

Modifying cultivation techniques potentially enhances mustard physical qualities to attain the demanded marketable value. The reputation of organic mustard propels farmers to implement modified cultivation techniques to improve harvest quality further. Planting space is one of the modifiable technical cultivations to achieve sustainable crop production. This research used soil planting media from acid dry land to optimize agricultural land use and cow manure as primary fertilizer to implement organic farming. This research objective is to figure the effect of different planting spaces on the growth and productivity of mustard greens that applied organic cultivation method. The preliminary arrangement of the research was a single-factor randomized block design. The factors were studied with different planting spaces: control without planting spaces, planting space of 20x20, 25x25, 30x30, 35x35, and 40x40 cm2. The outcomes revealed that the mean values of mustard green plant height (13.38 cm) and the number of leaves (9 strands) had significant differences to the control treatment (10 cm plant height and seven strands number of leaf). The results showed that the optimum planting space of organic mustard cultivation was 40x40 cm2 which achieved significantly higher plant height and the number of leaves than the control without planting spaces. This research's planting space of 40x40 cm2 is appropriately suitable for monocropping systems in acid dry land. It can alter plant population and distribute environmental resources for sustaining crop growth and production.

Abstract

Beberapa permasalahan terjadi di Desa Bentok Darat salah satunya penurunan produksi padi akibat serangan gejala nekrosis dan lesi pada daun dan juga malai yang mengalami patah leher diduga mengalami penyakit blas yang disebabkan oleh jamur Pyricularia dengan ditemukannya miselia putih pada benih padi. Pada wawancara dengan ketua kelompok tani permasalahan ini ditenggarai iklim desa yang terus-terusan diguyur hujan berturut-turut setelah  mengalami kemarau yang panjang. Karena itulah perlu dilakukan penyuluhan tentang pengenalan penyakit penting pada padi dan teknik pengendaliannya dengan menerapkan prinsip pengelolaan penyakit terpadu atau mengutamakan keseimbangan ekosistem dalam mengendalikan pertumbuhan dan penyebaran patogen. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan kepada masyarakat petani Desa Bentok Darat dalam mencegah masalah penyakit pada padi dan cara pengelolaan lingkungan yang baik serta pengendalian terpadu. Metode kegiatan meliputi pengisian kuisioner, pembukaan, ceramah, diskusi dan pengisian kuisioner yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui manfaat kegiatan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman tentang penyakit padi dan cara pengendaliannya. Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat oleh Jurusan Agroekoteknologi kepada mitra Kelompok Tani Desa Bentok Darat, Kecamatan Bati-bati, Kabupaten Tanah Laut menghasilkan peningkatan pemahaman warga tani Desa Bentok darat mengenai jenis-jenis penyakit penting pada padi dan agen patogen penyebabnya sebesar 85,71%. Kegiatan ini berperan sekali dalam meningkatkan pemahaman petani di Desa Bentok Darat mengenai informasi cara pengendalian penyakit di padi dengan nilai pengetahuan warga desa meningkat sebesar 100% tentang cara lain atau teknis pengendaliannya menggunakan POC plus, pestisida nabati dan agensia hayati. Seratus persen responden menjawab kegiatan ini menimbulkan rasa senang karena memperoleh manfaat dalam peningkatan informasi dan pengetahuan dalam mengetahui jenis penyakit padi dan cara pengendaliannya. Community Service: Introduction to Rice Plant Diseases and Their Control Techniques in Bentok Darat Village, Bati-bati, South Kalimantan  One of the problems that occurred in Bentok Darat Village was a decrease in rice production due to attacks of symptoms of necrosis and lesions on leaves and panicles with broken necks suspected of being affected by blast disease caused by Pyricularia fungus with white mycelia found in rice seeds. In an interview with the head of the farmer group, it is suspected that the climate in the village continues to rain after experiencing a long dry season. Therefore it is necessary to carry out counseling about the introduction of important diseases in rice plants and their control techniques by applying the principles of integrated disease control or prioritizing ecosystem balance in controlling the growth and spread of pathogens. This activity aims to provide insight to the farming community of Bentok Darat Village in preventing rice disease problems as well as good environmental management and integrated control. Activity methods include filling out questionnaires, opening, lectures, discussions and filling out questionnaires which aim to find out the benefits of activities in increasing understanding of rice diseases and how to deal with them Community service activities by the Department of Agroecotechnology for Farmer Group partners in Bentok Darat Village, Bati-bati District, Tanah Laut Regency resulted in an increase in information and knowledge of the farmers in Bentok Darat Village regarding important types of diseases in rice and their causative pathogens by 85.71%. This activity played a major role in increasing the knowledge of farmers in Bentok Darat Village regarding the information on how to control diseases in rice with the value of the villagers' knowledge rising by 100% about other methods or control techniques using POC plus, vegetable pesticides, and biological agents. One hundred percent of respondents answered that this activity caused a sense of pleasure because it benefited from increasing information and knowledge about the types of rice diseases and how to control them

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan serta keterampilan petani di Kecamatan Sambung Makmur Kabupaten Banjar dalam membuat pupuk organik berbahan kotoran sapi. Khalayak sasaran PKM berupa penyuluhan teknik pembuatan pupuk organik berbahan kotoran sapi dalam rangka menambah ilmu pengetahuan dan keterampilan bagi petani di Kecamatan Sambung Makmur Kabupaten Banjar. Kegiatan PKM dilaksanakan pada 14 Juni 2023, bertempat di BPP Sambung Makmur, Kabupaten Banjar dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 25 orang yang terdiri dari anggota kelompok tani dan karang taruna di wilayah Kecamatan Sambung Makmur Kabupaten Banjar. Hasil PKM menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani di Kecamatan Sambung Makmur Kabupaten Banjar mengenai pembuatan pupuk organik berbahan kotoran sapi. Sebanyak 100% peserta mengetahui apa itu pupuk organik, 100% peserta mengetahui jenis-jenis pupuk organik, 100% peserta mengetahui apa itu pupuk organik kotoran sapi, 100% peserta mengetahui manfaat pupuk organik bagi tanah dan tanaman, 96% peserta mengetahui keunggulan pupuk organik dibanding pupuk kimia, 100% peserta mengetahui bahan-bahan yang digunakan dalam pembuatan pupuk organik kotoran sapi, 100% peserta mengetahui kotoran ternak dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan pupuk organik kotoran sapi, 94% peserta mengetahui proses pembuatan pupuk organik kotoran sapi secara baik dan benar, 88% peserta mengetahui ciri-ciri pupuk organik kotoran sapi yang telah selesai di fermentasi, dan 100% peserta mengetahui cara penggunaan pupuk organik kotoran sapi ke tanaman. Training on Making Organic Fertilizer Made from Cow Manure for Farmers in Sambung Makmur District, Banjar Regency This community service aims to increase the knowledge and skills of farmers in Sambung Makmur District, Banjar Regency, in making organic fertilizer from cow manure. Community service's target audience is in the form of providing information on techniques for making organic fertilizer from cow manure in order to increase knowledge and skills for farmers in Sambung Makmur District, Banjar Regency. The community service activity was carried out on June 14, 2023, at the Sambung Makmur Agricultural Extension Center, Banjar Regency, with a total of 25 participants consisting of members of farmer groups and youth organizations in the Sambung Makmur District, Banjar Regency. The community service results show an increase in the knowledge and skills of farmers in Sambung Makmur District, Banjar Regency, regarding making organic fertilizer from cow manure. As many as 100% of participants know what organic fertilizer is; 100% of participants know the types of organic fertilizer; 100% of participants know what organic cow manure fertilizer is; 100% of participants know the benefits of organic fertilizer for soil and plants; 96% of participants know the advantages of organic fertilizer compared to chemical fertilizers; 100% of participants know the ingredients used in making organic cow manure fertilizer; 100% of participants know that livestock manure can be used as raw material for making organic cow manure fertilizer; and 94% of participants know the process of making organic cow manure fertilizer properly. That's right, 88% of participants know the characteristics of organic cow manure fertilizer that has been fermented, and 100% of participants know how to use organic cow manure fertilizer on plants.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan lahan gambut untuk pertanian khususnya budidaya edamame seringkali mengalami kendala terkait dengan tingkat kesuburan tanah yang rendah dan biofisik lahan yang rapuh. Alternatif teknologi pengelolaan lahan yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas lahan gambut adalah ameliorasi. Bahan amelioran dapat menggunakan kompos dari limbah pertanian antara lain ampas kopi, jerami padi, dan limbah baglog jamur tiram. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis kompos ampas kopi, jerami padi, dan limbah baglog jamur tiram terbaik dalam meningkatkan pH tanah gambut dan pertumbuhan akar edamame, serta mengetahui tingkat keeratan hubungan antar peubah. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap  faktorial tersarang, faktor dosis kompos tersarang pada jenis kompos. Faktor jenis kompos (A) terdiri atas tiga perlakuan: a1 = kompos ampas kopi, a2 = kompos jerami padi, a3 = kompos limbah baglog jamur tiram, sedangkan faktor dosis kompos (B) terdiri atas lima perlakuan: b0 = 0 t ha-1 (kontrol), b1 = 5 t ha-1, b2 = 10 t ha-1, b3 = 15 t ha-1, b4 = 20 t ha-1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dosis 10 t ha-1 kompos ampas kopi, 20 t ha-1 kompos jerami padi, dan 15 t ha-1 kompos limbah baglog jamur tiram mampu meningkatkan pH tanah gambut. Dosis 20 t ha-1 kompos ampas kopi dan 10 t ha-1 kompos jerami padi mampu meningkatkan panjang akar edamame. Dosis 15 t ha-1 kompos ampas kopi, 5 t ha-1 kompos jerami padi, dan 5 t ha-1 kompos limbah baglog jamur tiram mampu meningkatkan jumlah bintil akar edamame.
