Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine  the response of various tidal swamp varieties of paddy rice (Oryza sativa L.) on various ground water levels. The experiment was conducted in an experimental field of Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, from July until December 2016. The experiment was conducted by experiment using completely randomized design (RAL) with two factors, namely rice field varieties, and water table height. Varieties are used: IR-42, Inpari 13 and Bamban Lentik. Height of ground water used 5 cm, 10 centimeter, 15 cm and 20 centimeter. The observed parameters were: plant height, tillers maximum number, number of productive tillers, age of panicles, panicle length, harvest age, percentage of unripe rice per hill, weight of dried grain per clump, and weight of 1000 grain of pithy rice. The results obtained in the analysis using anova and HSD of 5%. The results showed that the responses of IR-42 and Inpari 13 varieties to the 10 cm height of the ground water surface resulted in the age of panicles and the fastest harvest age, and yielded the weight of dry grain per clump, the percentage of unlogged rice per hill and the weight of 1000 rice grains. Response of Bamban Lentik varieties to 20 cm high water levels showed the age of panicles and the fastest harvest age, and yielded the weight of dry grain per hill per hill, the percentage of pithy rice per hill and weight of 1000 grain of the highest pine rice.Keywords: Water level, varieties, rice

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of vermicompost and bio fertilizer mycorrhizal against chemical properties of soil and yield of sweet corn. Research conducted at the Experimental Farm Unit, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau soil type inceptisol and Soil Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from February to July 2016. The study was conducted experimentally using CRBD factorial with vermicompost fertilizer the first factor, namely 56.25 g/planting hole, 84.37 g/planting hole, 112.50 g/planting hole and the second factor was the biological mycorrhizal fertilizer 5 g/planting hole, 10 g/planting hole, and 15 g/planting hole so obtained 9 combination treatments and 3 replications. Data of soil chemical parameters were analyzed descriptively and data of crop yields statistically analyzed by analysis of variance was then tested further using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) 5%. The results showed that vermicompost fertilizer and mycorrhizal biological improved the chemistry of soil pH, organic C, total-N, P-total and CEC and affects the yield of sweet corn per plot.Keyword :sweet corn (Zea mays sacharata Sturt), vermicompost fertilizer, biological mycorrhizal, soil chemical properties

Abstract

Cultivation of Strawberries (Fragaria Sp) in substrates Hydroponics can use Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) Super Bionics as a source of nutrients, which need to be investigated the accuracy of the concentration of application, with the aim of getting the best concentration for the growth and production of strawberris. Research was conducted experimentally using completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 4 replicates ie liquid organic fertilizer Super Bionic with a concentration of 0 ml / l of water, 1.5 ml / l of water, 2 ml / l of water, 2.5 ml / l of water, 3 ml / l of water and 3.5 ml / l of water. Parameters observaced  such plant height (cm), number of leaves (leaf), days to flowering (days), the age of first harvest (days) and the weight of fruit  per plant (g). The results showed that the liquid organic fertilizer Super Bionic 3 ml / l of water provide the best results on all parameters observed such plant height, leaf number, date of flowering, the age of first harvest and  weight of fruit  per plant.    Keywords: Strawberries (Fragaria Sp), Super Bionic liquid organic fertilizer, substrates       hydroponics.

Abstract

Kacang panjang merupakan salah satu jenis sayuran yang cukup banyak dikonsumsi masyarakat, akan tetapi tidak semua orang banyak menyukai kacang panjang khususnya anak-anak. Untuk memenuhi selera konsumen akan kacang panjang baik dari segi rasa dan tingkat kerenyahan maka perlu dilakukan perbaikan genetik dengan pemuliaan tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan kacang panjang F 1 dengan tetuanya dan mendapatkan genotipe kacang panjang F 1 yangmemiliki rasa manis dan polong yang renyah dibandingkan tetuanya. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan September sampai Desember 2014. Alat yang digunakan antara lain Penetrometer dan Refractometer. Benih yang digunakan adalah benih F 1 kacang panjang hasil persilangan Coklat Muda x Lurik dan Lurik x Coklat Muda beserta tetuanya Lurik dan Coklat Muda. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan teracak sempurna (RTS) dan data dianalisis ragam kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji LSI (Least Significant Increase). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa genotipe Lurik x Coklat Muda memiliki mutu lebih unggul dibandingkan tetua Lurik yaitu pada variabel panjang polong dan nilai o Brix, akan tetapi tidak lebih baik dibandingkan tetua Coklat Muda. Kacang panjang genotipe Coklat Muda x Lurik mutunya lebih rendah dibandingkan kedua tetua yaitu Lurik dan Coklat Muda. Untuk hasil uji kerenyahan polong, kedua genotipe kacang panjang F 1 memiliki polong yang lebih renyah dibandingkan tetua Lurik dan Coklat Muda.

Abstract

Propagation of cassava through in vitro culture is needed by farmers and agro industries to fulfill the need of the best and the newest clone as soon as after that clone is released by government. The objective of this research is to know the effect of the application of some concentration sucrose and activated charcoal on in vitro and ex vitro growth of micro-cutting of cassava. Explants used were one-node cuttings of cassava, which were derived from sterile shoot culture. The explants were cultured on MS basal medium supplemented with 0,2 mg.l-1 benzyl adenine. This research was arranged in completely randomized design with the treatments consisting of some concentrations of sucrose: 3%, 4% and 5% and concentration of activated charcoal: 0% and 0,1%. Each treatment was replicated 7 times with 4 explants in each experiment unit. The best growth micro-cutting of cassava in vitrowas achieved by treatment of 3% sucrose without activated charcoal. Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the effects of the application of some concentrations of benzyl adenine and naphthalene acetic acid on in vitro growth and multiplication of micro-shoot of cassava. Explants used were one-node green cuttings of cassava, which were derived from cutting seedling. This research was arranged in completely randomized design with the treatments consisting of some concentrations of benzyl adenine 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8 mg/l and concentrations of naphthalene acetic acid: 0 and 0.1 mg/l. Each treatment was replicated 10 times with 2 explants in each experiment unit. The best growth and multiplication shoot of cassava in vitro was achieved by treatment of 0,2 mg/l benzyl adenine with 0,1 mg/l naphthalene acetic acid. Abstract

The main obstacle in breeding cassava plant is a flowering plant age which is not the same between the genotypes and the long time needed for a breeder to get cassava flowering before it is crossed. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of various concentrations of Paclobutrazol through the leaves of cassava plants to induce early flowering in the lowlands. Plant materials in the form of cuttings were taken with the size of 25 cm in length. The clone used was called Thailand taken from the field 10-12 months after planting. This experiment was conducted with complete randomized block design. Each treatment was repeated three times and each experimental unit consists of at least two-plant samples. Paclobutrazol treatment consisted of a wide range of concentration. Those were: 0 (P0), 250 (P1), 500 (P2), 750 (P3), and 1000 (P4) ppm. Paclobutrazol was sprayed through the leaves and carried out on plants that have been 30 days after planting with a volume of 100 ml per crop. The application through the soil was also done once while through the leaf was done 3 times with 1 week interval, each application was given with a volume of 20 ml, 30 ml and 50 ml. The results showed that Paclobutrazol Application of 500 ppm through the leaf was s the best concentration in stimulating the formation of branches and flowers compared with other Paclobutrazol concentrations Keywords: Paclobutrazol, Cassava Plant, Early Flowering, Lowland

Abstract

Quality factors intensively noticed by consumers are bean color, bean maturity, length of bean, bean shape, shape of bean surface, bean crispiness, and sweetness of bean.Since, potassium fertilization could increased the quantity and quality of yield some crops.The objectives of this research were to know the characters of production and young bean sweetness in different potassium environments. The treatments were arranged in factorial arrangement (2x4) with 3 replications. First factors were genotype of long bean which were stripped seed (G1) and black seed (G2). Second factors were KCl dosages which were 0 kg.ha-1(K0), 50 kg.ha-1(K1), 100 kg.ha-1(K2), 150 kg.ha-1(K3) dan 200 kg.ha-1(K4). The genotype of stripped seed had superior quality of production, while yield quantity didn tdifferent between genotype. Fertilization of potassium with dosage 50 kg of KCl /ha had increased the quality of yardlong bean crop production. Keywords: Sugar Content Pod , Peanut Genotypes, Potassium Fertilization

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of four doses of empty palm bunches compost (EPB) on growth and production of onion (Allium ascalonicum L.) and getting the best doses for the growth and yield of onion. This research has been conducted in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru for 2 months starting in February 2016 to April 2016. The research was conducted experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and  5 replications. The treatments applied in this research was :  0, 5, 10, 15 and 20  tones empty palm bunches compost per ha. Parameters those observed were the plant height, harvesting, the number of tubers per clumps sample, fresh weight of tuber per clumps sample and dry weight of tuber per clumps sample. Data were analyzed statistically by anova and Duncan's test at 5% level. The results showed that implementation of empty palm bunches composts with a dose of 5 tones/ha gave the best results on the plant height, yield, the number of tubers per clumps sample, fresh weight of tuber per clumps sample.  Keyword : onion, Empty Palm Bunches compost, fertilization

Abstract

Water availability is a major factor limiting the production rate of oil palm plantations. Availability of water for palm oil plants in the field is obtained from rainfall. The research was conducted at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara V Tandun Estate, Riau Province, for three months starting in June until August 2016. This study uses secondary data available on the administration of the garden. Secondary data for analysis include TBS monthly production data for 5 years (2011-2015), the data age of the plant 5, 10 and 20 years after planting, rainfall data and rainy day for 9 years (2007-2009). The analytical method used is analasis multiple linear regression and correlation models tested for feasibility with the classical assumption test including normality test, heteroscedasticity test and multicollinearity test. Regression analysis showed that variable rainfall and rainy days significantly affected on alpha 1% (Sig <α 0,01) to FFB production at the age of 5 years. Results F-count of 29.07 with a significance value of 0.00. The coefficient of determination (R2) obtained 63.8%. This means that 63.8% of FFB production variations can be explained by the variation of the variables used and the remaining 36,2% is explained by the other variables not incorporated into the model. Regression analysis equation on a 5-year-old plant was Y = 414633.827 + 2530.523 X1 - X2 21848,726. Results of correlation analysis at 5 years old plants showed variable rainfall and rainy days have a very strong relationship. Correlation value of rainfall and rainy days and 0.720 - 0.543.Keywords: rainfall, raining, FFB production.
