Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: One way to improve public oral health is through conducting health promotion activities. As technology develops, the internet has been used as a medium for health promotion by presenting health content through websites. However, the use of these websites has the potential to provide inaccurate health information due to the flexibility of users in uploading health content without a prior regulatory process and review of the contents. This study aims to describe oral health promotion content quality through regarding caries, periodontal disease, and oral cancer websites using Discern Instruments. Methods: This study used the descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were taken using the purposive sampling technique, with a total of 46 samples. The instrument consisted of 16 questions divided into three sections. The first section, comprising seven questions, focused on the reliability and accuracy of the presented health information. The second section, with eight questions, focused on the quality of information regarding treatment options. The final section, consisting of a single question, assessed the overall assessment based on the previous questions. The quality of the websites was assessed by two reviewers. The inter-rater reliability between the two reviewers was calculated using the Cohen’s Kappa test. Data presentation included frequency distribution, mean, and standard deviation. Results: In this study, 33.3% of caries websites had low quality and 66.6% had moderate quality. In periodontal disease, 33.3% of websites were of low quality, 60% were of moderate quality and 6.6% were of high quality. In oral cancer, 26.3% were of low quality and 73.6% were of medium quality.  Conclusion: The quality of dental and oral health promotion content on websites, assessed using the Discern Instruments, shows that most websites regarding caries, periodontal disease, and oral cancer have moderate quality, some have low quality, and only one website is of high quality.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: Root canal filling is an important part of root canal treatment that aimed to seal the root canal system, to prevent bacterial penetration and their toxins into periradicular tissues and to provide favourable environment for periapical healing. Thermoplasticized technique were developed to produce filling with homogenous mass, to achieve optimal sealing ability and to increase the quality of root canal filling. The aim of this study is to analyzed differences of Micro-Computed Tomography (Micro-CT) evaluation of the obturation sealing capability between thermoplastic carrier-based condensing techniques and lateral heat condensation techniques. Methods: This study was conducted under an in-vitro quasi experimental methode to 36 specimens of maxillaris centralis incisivus which were divided to 3 groups, (A) thermoplasticized carrier-based technique (GuttaCore System), (B) warm lateral condensation technique (heat carrier SystemB), (C) cold lateral condensation as control group. Sealing ability is evaluated based on the measurement results of volume percentages of filling material and sealer, volume of void, and surface density, that which was calculated from the 3D volumetric image of Micro-CT device. Data were statistically analysed using Analisis of Variance (ANOVA) and t-test. Result: The result showed significant difference of percentage filling material and sealer volume in apical third (p<0.05), whereas there were no significant differences of void volume in apical third, middle third, coronal third or along the canal (p>0.05). Conclusion: Thermoplastized carrier-based technique is not better than warm lateral technique. Keywords: sealing ability; root canal filling; thermoplasticized carrier-based technique; warm lateral technique.

Abstract

The high incidence of stunting necessitates accelerated prevention programs, which can be implemented by enhancing stunting literacy as part of women's empowerment initiative to prevent stunting, particularly in the field of oral health. Stunted children are more susceptible to dental caries due to changes in saliva characteristics, such as reduced flow rate and pH. The objective of this empowerment program is to increase women's literacy regarding stunting, specifically related to oral health and nutrition. The method includes a series of community empowerment activities through five educational programs and two training programs aimed at improving literacy in stunting, oral health, and nutrition. This is followed by demonstrations to enhance the skills of women cadres using educational units and training modules, which have been validated by public health experts. The results of the empowerment program indicate a significant increase in knowledge and skills within the community, reaching optimal levels, although the degree of improvement varies and there remains room for further development. The program, which empowers women by increase literacy on stunting and its relation to oral health and nutrition through education and training, can contribute to improving overall oral health literacy.
