Abstract

Salah satu gaya kognitif yang menarik untuk diteliti adalah gaya kognitif reflektif, di mana siswa cenderung mengambil waktu lebih lama untuk mempertimbangkan berbagai kemungkinan sebelum membuat keputusan. Olehnya itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan spasial siswa berdasarkan gaya kognitif reflektif. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitiatif dengan melibatkan 2 subjek yang dominan bergaya kognitif reflektif. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan spasial dan wawancara. Untuk menguji keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi metode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang bergaya kognitif reflektif dapat menyelesaikan soal kemampuan spasial dan memenuhi indikator kemampuan spasial khusus pada bagian menyatakan kedudukan antar unsur-unsur suatu bangun ruang dan membayangkan bentuk atau posisi suatu objek geometri yang dipandang dari sudut pandang tertentu dan menginvestigasi ukuran yang sebenarnya dari stimulus visual suatu objek geometri. Siswa reflektif cenderung memiliki kemampuan spasial yang tinggi karena siswa reflektif berpikir lama dan mendalam untuk mempertimbangkan keputusan jawaban, jika ada jawaban yang dianggap keliru maka siswa reflektif langsung memperbaiki jawaban

Abstract

Mathematics anxiety is one of the major barriers to students’ achievement and positive attitudes toward learning mathematics. Conversely, a growth mindset is considered a protective factor that fosters learning resilience. This study aims to explore the narratives of students with high levels of mathematics anxiety in relation to their growth mindset. A qualitative narrative approach was employed with three 11th-grade high school students in Malang Regency, Indonesia, selected purposively based on their scores on the Math Anxiety Questionnaire (MAQ). Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, written reflections, and field notes, and analyzed using thematic narrative analysis. The findings reveal five major themes: (1) initial negative perceptions of mathematics, (2) emotional responses to failure such as nervousness, frustration, or shame, (3) efforts to recover through diverse coping strategies, (4) social support from teachers, peers, and families that influences resilience, and (5) indications of growth mindset reflected in the belief that effort is more important than innate talent and mistakes are part of the learning process. These results highlight that although high mathematics anxiety poses challenges, a growth mindset can serve as a protective factor in building students’ learning resilience. This study contributes to the literature on the intersection between mathematics anxiety and growth mindset and provides practical implications for teachers to create a classroom climate that fosters positive mindset development.

Abstract

Application of the Role Playing Method to Improve Statistics Learning Outcomes of Elementary School Students. This study aims to find out the results of learning statistics on data presentation and calculating the average (mean) through the role playing method in learning mathematics. Classroom action research was carried out at Mangasa 1 Public Elementary School, Somba Opu District by taking 26 research subjects. This research was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation and reflection activities. Data was collected using a filled-in test with a total of 10 questions. Data on learning outcomes were analyzed using a quantitative descriptive analysis method, namely finding the average student score and learning completeness. Data were taken from two activities, namely cycle I and cycle II. Learning outcomes data obtained by students in cycle I, namely with an average value of 73.26 and learning completeness reached 46.15% and cycle II obtained an average value of 98.84 and learning completeness reached 100%. In this study it can be concluded that the application of the Role Playing method can improve the mathematics learning outcomes of fourth grade students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the mathematical problem solving ability of fractions in terms of learning styles in the seventh grade students of MTs Peris Ganra. Indicators of problem solving ability used in this study are (1) understanding the problem; (2) make a settlement plan; (3 carry out the plan; and (4) re-examine. Meanwhile, the visual learning style, auditory learning style, and kinesthetic learning style.This type of research is a qualitative descriptive approach. The research was carried out at MTs Peris Ganra Jl. Ganra sub-district education, Soppeng Regency. The subjects in this study amounted to 3 students who represented each of each learning style. The instruments used in this research are learning style questionnaires, problem solving tests, and interview guidelines. The results of this study indicate that (1) visual subjects are able to understand the problem, are able to make plans, are able to carry out plans, and are able to make conclusions and re-evaluate the final results obtained. (2) Auditory subjects are able to understand problems, are able to make plans, are able to carry out plans, and are able to draw conclusions and re-evaluate the final results obtained. (3) Kinesthetic subjects are able to understand problems, are able to make plans, and are able to carry out plans but do not make conclusions and re-evaluating because in working on the questions students are not able to write plans before completing the completion steps on the questions and also do not re-examine the final results obtained.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze the need for developing GeoGebra-assisted interactive learning resources integrated into the SPADA Learning Management System to improve students' mathematical visualization skills. Methodology: The study involved 29 lecturers from the Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. A questionnaire was used to gather data on first-year undergraduates needs regarding GeoGebra-based learning resources in SPADA Learning Management System. Data analysis was quantitative using descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis for suggestions. Main Findings: The study revealed that 83% of lecturers emphasized the importance of developing GeoGebra-assisted learning resources in SPADA Learning Management System to improve understanding of abstract mathematical concepts. Most lecturers were familiar with SPADA LMS, but the use of features for mathematical visualization was limited. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study is the first to analyze the need to integrate GeoGebra into the SPADA Learning Management System in order to improve mathematics learning through interactive visual representations. This study expands knowledge by proposing an innovative approach to improve mathematical visualization, helping students better understand abstract concepts, and improving student learning outcomes in mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using colored number card media on the mathematics learning outcomes of first-grade students at SD Negeri Pao-Pao, particularly in addition material. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method using a One Group Pretest–Posttest design. The population consisted of all first-grade students of SD Negeri Pao-Pao, who were also used as the research sample, totaling 24 students. The research instruments included learning outcome tests in the form of pretest and posttest on addition material, while data were collected through tests administered before and after the treatment. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis to determine the effect of implementing colored number card media on students’ mathematics learning outcomes. The findings show that the use of colored number card media significantly improved students’ mathematics learning outcomes. Initially, the average pretest score was 51.67, and most students (95.83%) had not met the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). After the learning process was conducted using the colored number card media for three meetings, the average posttest score increased to 89.17, and all students achieved learning mastery. This result was further supported by the paired samples t-test, which showed a significance value of 0.000, lower than 0.05, indicating a significant difference between students’ learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the learning media.

Abstract

Pendekatan disiplin positif merupakan metode pengelolaan perilaku yang berfokus pada pembentukan hubungan saling hormat dan percaya antara pendidik dan peserta didik. Pendekatan ini penting untuk diterapkan di sekolah-sekolah karena mengedepankan kesadaran diri, tanggung jawab pribadi, dan pemecahan masalah secara konstruktif tanpa menggunakan hukuman atau ancaman. Disiplin positif diyakini mampu menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang aman dan nyaman, sehingga relevan untuk mendukung program Sekolah Penggerak. Lokakarya ini menggunakan metode partisipatif, melibatkan pengawas sekolah, kepala sekolah, dan dua perwakilan guru dari tiga sekolah dasar, yaitu SD Negeri 85 Labettang, SD Negeri 92 Panaikang, dan SD Negeri 103 Bontompare di Kabupaten Sinjai. Kegiatan yang diadakan pada Sabtu, 6 Mei 2024 ini menghasilkan dua produk utama: keyakinan kelas sebagai pedoman perilaku dan rencana dukungan implementasi disiplin positif bagi guru dan sekolah. Hasil lokakarya ini sangat penting karena membantu guru menciptakan suasana kelas yang kondusif, memperkuat hubungan antara pendidik dan peserta didik, serta meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran. Dukungan ini diharapkan mampu mendorong keberhasilan Program Sekolah Penggerak di tingkat sekolah dasar. Secara keseluruhan, lokakarya ini memberikan dampak positif dengan membekali guru dan sekolah strategi efektif dalam menerapkan disiplin positif. Implementasi berkelanjutan dari produk yang dihasilkan akan mendukung terciptanya budaya sekolah yang lebih inklusif dan mendukung pengembangan peserta didik secara holistik.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using congklak media on students’ learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample of this study was also the population, consisting of 18 students, including 9 females and 9 males. Data were collected through observation and learning achievement tests. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that the mean pretest score of the students was 61.11 with a mastery percentage of 16.67%, which increased to 81.38 with a mastery percentage of 72.22% in the posttest. In addition, the hypothesis testing indicated a significant difference between learning outcomes before and after the use of congklak media. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of congklak media has a significant positive effect on students’ mathematics learning outcomes, particularly on the topics of Least Common Multiple and Greatest Common Divisor.

Abstract

Misconception is a wrong or inaccurate understanding or comprehension of a concept, information, or phenomenon. The purpuse of this study is to determine the misconceptions experienced by students in the material of sets. This study is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were grade VII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 12 Makassar, selected as many as 3 students, each of whom experiencedthe most dominant theoritical, classification, and correlational misconceptions throught tests given and interviews. The instruments used in this study were tests to see the misconceptions experienced by students and interview guidelines used to confirm the results of student work. The data analysis technique in this study used three stages, namely data condensation, data presentation, and data verification. The results showed that types of misconceptions experienced by students were most dominant theoritical, classification, and correlation misconceptions. The types of misconceptions experienced by subject S1 are included in theoritical misconceptions. Because subject S1 made mistakes in analyzing and defining the form of set operations in the Venn diagram image. The type of misconception experienced by subject S2 is classification misconception. This is in accordance with the indicator of classification misconception, namely the subject is wrong in distinguishing or grouping elements in the set material. The type of misconception experienced by subject S3 is correlational misconception, this is because subject S3 meets the indicator of corellational misconception, namely errors in applying the concept of sets with other mathematical concepts.
