Based on observations and interviews with Public Junior High School 9 Malang class VII-G mathematics teacher, Ms. DL, it is revealed that class VII-G students were passive in asking questions. They tended to answer predetermined questions asked by the teacher. At the opposite, while asked if they have any questions, the most of the students became silent. If students are unable asking questions, it is impossible to confirm students’ wants, in addition to the lack of students’ participation in the learning process and incapability of teachers to examine students’ level of understanding from objects being learned. Based on presented problems, it is necessary to build a learning environment where students could ask questions according to their cognitive levels. Learning style applied on this research was problem posing. By utilizing the learning style, it is expected that students’ question quality would increase. The purpose of this study is to describe problem posing learning style which has capability in increasing students’ questioning ability via classroom action research. Research subjects selected were 32 Public Junior High School class VII-G students learning perimeter and the area of square. The learning style application resulted in students’ inquiring ability improvement. Based on the data of students’ questioning ability test calculated classically, it revealed 67.5% question quality score in cycle 1 and 78.3% in cycle 2. Relevance of percentage score with learning materials is 91.7% in cycle 1 and 95.7% in cycle 2. The percentage of linguistic score is 68.3% in cycle 1 and 79.4% in cycle 2.

Distance learning is a learning system that does not take place in one room and there is no face-to-face interaction between the teacher and the learner. This study aims to determine the impact of implementing distance learning in Indonesia from a commognitive point of view. This research is a descriptive type of research with a total of 543 participants who come from high school students in Pasuruan district, Indonesia. Data collection using a questionnaire. After the questionnaire is collected, it is analyzed using the Miles and Huberman method through reduction, display data, and conclusion, then it will be studied based on the commognitive theory. The results show that based on commognitive studies, students are more likely to still need a visual mediator as a visible object to be used as a communication medium, its realization depends on the material context. Students need to communicate to ask questions related to material that has not been understood. So it can be said that visual mediator is important during distance learning.

This study aims to reveal the condition of students' reasoning abilities based on the way students argue. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were 3 students of junior high school with high reasoning abilities and 3 students with low reasoning abilities who viewed the reasoning ability scores when providing problem solving solutions on the written test. The data obtained in this study were in the form of students' written test scores and the results of student interviews. Interviews were conducted to bring up students 'ability to argue that describe and reveal the condition of students' reasoning abilities in the process of solving problems. The results of students 'arguments are analyzed and adjusted to the model of StephenToulmin's argument which reveals that there are 6 components of the argumentation to show the seriousness of students in arguing in order to obtain valid argument results to assess students' reasoning abilities. The arguments from students succeeded in uncovering 4 conditions that describe the conditions of students' mathematical reasoning abilities. These conditions are: 1) Students who show high reasoning ability in written tests and are able to show their reasoning process in the arguments that are brought up, 2) Students who show low reasoning abilities in written tests but are able to show their reasoning processes in the arguments that are brought up, 3) Students which shows a high reasoning ability in a written test but have not been able to demonstrate the reasoning process in the arguments that are brought up, and 4) Students who show a low reasoning ability in a written test and have not been able to demonstrate their reasoning process in the arguments that are brought up.
