Abstract

This research aims to explore the ethnomathematics values contained in the traditional pindan game in Jrebeng Kidul Village, Probolinggo, East Java. Pindan is a local game that not only functions as entertainment, but also as a means of character and social education for children and teenagers. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this research identifies mathematical concepts such as patterns, logic, speed and dexterity that emerge in the dynamics of the game. The findings show that the integration of local cultural elements in mathematics learning can strengthen students' understanding of abstract concepts, as well as foster critical and analytical thinking skills. Apart from that, this game plays an important role in strengthening social relations between residents and preserving local wisdom in the midst of globalization which is shifting the popularity of traditional games. This research recommends developing a curriculum based on local culture to increase the relevance of mathematics learning in students' daily lives.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the mathematical elements applied in the architecture of Jabung Temple, Probolinggo Regency. This research uses qualitative research methods with an ethnographic approach. The results of the research show that there are several ethnomathematics at Jabung Temple, including the concepts of flat shapes, spatial shapes, geometric transformations, similarity and congruence. This research can be used as material for preparing student test packages in the form of questions related to geometric transformations. This research can also help improve students' ability to understand mathematical concepts and develop critical and logical thinking skills. Apart from that, this research can also be a reference for teachers in developing curriculum and mathematics learning methods that are more effective and enjoyable for students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan media kertas origami dalam mengembangkan kreativitas dan pemahaman konsep bangun datar pada siswa kelas 2 SDIT Alam Permata Leces. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Prosedur pembelajaran dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu apersepsi dan pengenalan bentuk, demonstrasi melipat kertas origami untuk membentuk persegi, persegi panjang, segitiga, dan lingkaran, serta penyusunan bentuk-bentuk tersebut menjadi karya kreatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media kertas origami membantu siswa memahami ciri-ciri bangun datar secara konkret melalui aktivitas manipulatif yang sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan operasional konkret. Selain itu, origami memberikan ruang yang luas bagi siswa untuk mengekspresikan ide dan menghasilkan karya yang beragam sehingga kreativitas mereka berkembang secara natural. Dengan demikian, media origami efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika, khususnya dalam pengenalan bangun datar pada siswa sekolah dasar. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi guru sekolah dasar dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran geometri yang kreatif dan menyenangkan

Abstract

Abstrak Hasil analisis kebutuhan memperlihatkan bahwa proses pembelajaran koordinat kartesius belum optimal karena siswa masih mengalami hambatan dalam menentukan posisi titik, terutama pada koordinat bernilai negatif dan identifikasi kuadran. Permasalahan tersebut diperparah oleh penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang masih konvensional sehingga minat serta pemahaman siswa menjadi kurang. Pengembangan modul ini bertujuan menyediakan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis etnomatematika yang memadukan unsur budaya Topeng Malangan agar materi lebih kontekstual dan mudah dipahami. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) melalui penyusunan modul digital yang divalidasi oleh para ahli dan diuji cobakan kepada peserta didik. Hasil akhir menunjukkan bahwa modul ini mampu meningkatkan pemaahaman siswa melalui pengembangan media pembelajaran mengenai koordinat kartesius.

Abstract

Geometri merupakan salah satu cabang matematika yang memiliki peran fundamental dalam sistem pendidikan sekolah menengah pertama, namun siswa sering mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal geometri yang melibatkan proses kognitif kompleks seperti pemahaman konsep, penalaran logis, dan visualisasi spasial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal geometri pada siswa SMP kelas VII. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui tes, wawancara, dan kuesioner yang dianalisis menggunakan triangulasi data. Subjek penelitian adalah 30 siswa kelas VII SMP Darul Akhlaq Kabupaten Probolinggo yang terdiri dari 15 siswa laki-laki dan 15 siswa perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas siswa mengalami kesulitan signifikan dalam memahami konsep geometri, terutama dalam mengingat rumus (86,7%), membayangkan bentuk bangun (80%), dan memahami konsep luas (76,7%). Kesulitan ini berakar pada fondasi pemahaman yang lemah sejak awal pembelajaran dan metode pengajaran konvensional yang bersifat teacher-centered. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan implementasi pembelajaran kolaboratif dengan pendekatan konstruktivis yang lebih konkret dan visual untuk meningkatkan pemahaman geometri siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the contextual learning model on students’ learning outcomes in the topic of Linear Equations in One Variable (LEOV). The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–post-test model. The participants consisted of 30 students who were given a pretest before the implementation of contextual learning and a post-test after the learning process. The research instrument was a learning achievement test developed based on the indicators of LEOV competencies. Data were analysed using a paired samples t-test and N-Gain analysis to determine the significance and effectiveness of the learning model. The results showed that the mean pretest score of students was 55.00, which increased to 84.00 in the post-test. The paired samples t-test indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, revealing a significant difference between students’ learning outcomes before and after the implementation of contextual learning. Furthermore, the N-Gain value of 0.64 was classified as moderate. These findings indicate that the contextual learning model has a significant and fairly effective impact on improving students’ learning outcomes in Linear Equations in One Variable, although the improvement was not evenly distributed among all students.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is one of the important competencies that high school students, especially grade XI students, must have to face the demands of 21st-century learning. However, mathematics learning in schools still tends to be oriented towards memorizing formulas and solving routine problems, so that students' problem-solving abilities have not developed optimally. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of project-based mathematics learning (PBL) in improving mathematical problem-solving abilities of grade XI high school students. This study used a qualitative approach with an explanatory sequential design. The subjects were 30 grade XI high school students. Data collection was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests, observations, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Quantitative data analysis was carried out using t-tests and N-Gain Scores, while qualitative data were analyzed descriptively through data triangulation. The results showed that project-based mathematics learning was able to significantly improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. Students became more active in understanding problems, planning solution strategies, carrying out calculations, and evaluating results. In addition, project-based learning also increased students' independence, creativity, cooperation, and motivation towards learning mathematics. Although there were still challenges in time management and group assignments, overall, project-based mathematics learning proved effective and could be used as an alternative learning strategy to improve the mathematical problem-solving skills of eleventh-grade high school students.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is a fundamental skill that elementary school students must acquire to understand and apply mathematical concepts in everyday life. However, numeracy learning in elementary schools is still predominantly abstract, causing students’ numeracy literacy to be underdeveloped. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Market Day method in improving elementary school students’ numeracy literacy skills. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with students of SDIT Permata Leces as the research subjects. Data were collected through observations, interviews, a simple numeracy literacy test, and documentation. The research was conducted in October 2025. The findings indicate that the Market Day method creates contextual and meaningful numeracy learning experiences. Students actively engage in buying and selling activities that require the application of numeracy concepts such as addition, subtraction, and contextual problem solving. Moreover, students demonstrate improved numeracy understanding, learning motivation, and self-confidence in using numeracy skills. Therefore, the Market Day method can serve as an alternative learning strategy to support the enhancement of numeracy literacy in elementary schools.

Abstract

Multiplication learning at the elementary school level requires an approach that focuses not only on procedures but also on students' understanding of the concepts. One strategy used in education is the use of educational programs as components of learning activities. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of educational programs on the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDIT Tahfidz Bintangku, Probolinggo City. This study was conducted on January 14, 2026, using a quantitative approach with a single-group pretest-posttest design. Thirty-three students were included in the study. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to analyze the learning data because the data did not violate the assumption of normality. Furthermore, N-Gain analysis and effect size were used to enhance the interpretation of the research results. Keywords: Educational Games, Multiplication, Learning Outcomes, Elementary School
