Abstract

Digital literacy is a crucial competency for students to navigate technological developments in education. The use of digital learning media in Islamic junior high schools (MTs) still faces various challenges, particularly limited student understanding and skills in using digital media optimally and responsibly. This community service activity aims to improve MTs students' digital literacy through mentoring in the use of digital learning media. The approach used was participatory, with stages including outreach, training, and direct mentoring. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the activity indicate an increase in students' understanding and skills in utilizing digital learning media independently, as well as an increased awareness of the ethics of digital media use. This digital literacy mentoring is expected to support improvements in the quality of learning and build a sustainable digital literacy culture within the madrasah environment.

Abstract

Learning assessment is a crucial competency that prospective teacher students must master, particularly in mathematics. However, understanding of learning assessment is often theoretical and not yet integrated with learning practices. This community service activity aims to strengthen students' understanding of mathematics learning assessment through a book review. The activity was conducted at the Ahmad Dahlan Institute in Probolinggo, involving 30 prospective teacher students. The method used was a participatory-educational approach through preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The activity involved group discussions, literature analysis, and presentations of the book reviews, facilitated by the community service team. The results showed that the book reviews improved students' understanding of the concept of mathematics learning assessment, fostered reflective skills, and raised awareness of the importance of alignment between learning objectives, learning strategies, and assessment techniques. This activity made a positive contribution to strengthening assessment literacy in prospective teacher students and can serve as a model for relevant community service activities in higher education. Abstract

This study was inspired by fifth-grade elementary school students' poor performance in mathematics, particularly in plane figures, due to the widespread use of the lecture method, which tends to make students docile and unmotivated. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to ascertain how the Discovery Learning approach affects the academic performance of thirty fifth-grade students at SDIT Tahfidz Bintangku in Probolinggo City, particularly in the field of plane figures. Any causal interpretation must take into consideration risks to internal validity because the approach was a quantitative study using a pre-experimental design of the one-group pretest-posttest type without a control group. The study used written pretest and posttest instruments, whose reliability was evaluated using Cronbach's Alpha (α = 0.87, high category) and whose validity was evaluated using Pearson's product-moment correlation. With a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05 and an average N-gain Score of 0.42 (moderate category) and a Cohen's Effect Size of 1.23 (large effect category), data analysis using the Paired Samples t-Test with IBM SPSS Statistics showed an increase in the mean score from 40.83 on the pre-test to 65.73 on the post-test; as a result, H1 is accepted. Therefore, it can be said that the Discovery Learning approach significantly improves fifth-grade elementary school students' learning outcomes in the area of plane figures; however, given the limitations of the research design, which did not include a control group, causal generalizations should be made with caution.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of implementing the Discovery Learning method assisted by three-dimensional geometric shape teaching aids on the learning outcomes of sixth-grade student in the topic of solid geometry. The study employed a quantitative approach. The research subject consisted of 28 student from SDI Ainur Rahmah, SD Islam Riyadhus Sholihin, and SDN Kedawung 1. The research instruments were pre-test and post-test essay questions used to maasure students' understanding of the elements of solid geometry and the classification of object based on geometric shapes. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistic through descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the nonparametic Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the mean pre-test score of 38.21 increased to 83.61 in the post-test. The normality the results indicated that the data were not normality distributed. Therefore, the analysis was cotinued using Mann-Whitney test. Tha Mann Whitneg test yielyed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000< 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test score. The improvement in learning outcomes demonstrates that the Discovery Learning method assisted by solid geometry teaching aids is effective in helping students understand geometric concepts through observation, eksploration, and independent concept discovery activities. Therefore, the Discovery Learning method assisted by solid geometry teaching aids can serve as an effective alternative learning strategy to improve elementary school students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya keterampilan berpikir kritis sebagai kompetensi yang esensial, namun kerap menjadi tantangan dalam pembelajaran matematika, khususnya pada materi statistika yang memerlukan penalaran kompleks. Tujuan dari studi ini adalah untuk menganalisis implementasi metode pembelajaran kolaboratif dan efektivitasnya dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI pada materi statistika. Menggunakan desain kuasi-eksperimen pretest-posttest control, penelitian ini melibatkan 30 siswa dari dua kelas XI di MA. Fatahillah. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes esai terstandar dan observasi proses pembelajaran. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor keterampilan berpikir kritis yang signifikan pada kelompok eksperimen yang menerima pembelajaran kolaboratif dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Ini menunjukkan bahwa lingkungan pembelajaran yang mendorong interaksi, diskusi, dan pemecahan masalah bersama dalam metode kolaboratif secara efektif menstimulasi dan mengembangkan kemampuan siswa untuk menganalisis, mengevaluasi, serta mensintesis informasi statistika secara kritis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran SOLE (Self-Organized Learning Environment) terhadap hasil belajar dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Geometri Analitik, mengingat rendahnya kemandirian belajar dan kemampuan penalaran matematis yang masih menjadi permasalahan umum dalam pembelajaran matematika tingkat perguruan tinggi. Penelitian menggunakan desain quasi-eksperimen dengan model pretest–posttest dan melibatkan mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika sebagai subjek penelitian. Instrumen meliputi tes hasil belajar, tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan lembar observasi aktivitas belajar yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Temuan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada hasil belajar dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah setelah penerapan model SOLE, ditunjukkan melalui perbedaan skor pretest dan posttest, serta observasi aktivitas belajar yang cenderung meningkat pada kategori aktif. Analisis statistik juga mengonfirmasi perbedaan yang signifikan secara akademik. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa model SOLE efektif dalam menciptakan pembelajaran yang lebih mandiri, kolaboratif, dan berorientasi pada penalaran matematis, sehingga dapat menjadi alternatif strategi pembelajaran inovatif pada mata kuliah yang menuntut kemampuan analitis dan pemecahan masalah.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur efektivitas Problem Based Learning dalam kemampuan berpikir spasial dalam mata pelajaran vektor pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 3 Probolinggo. Kemampuan visualisasi arah, posisi, dan besaran vektor yang rendah dipelajari di sekolah menjadi alasan penulis untuk melaksanakan penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskripsi dengan periode penelitian 06 Oktober- 06 November 2025. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan berpikir spasial, pedoman wawancara, dan dokumentasi yang telah melalui validitas isi, validitas konstruk, serta reliabilitas berbasis triangulasi data. Kelas eksperimen mendapat pembelajaran masalah, sementara kelas kontrol masih memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Adapun hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada kelas eksperimen, yaitu dari rata-rata pretest 71,63 menjadi 86,03 pada posttest, sementara kelas kontrol dari 61,96 menjadi 77,06. Hal tersebut didukungi oleh wawancara dan dokumentasi terhadap peningkatan kemampuan visualisasi ruang, rotasi mental, orientasi spasial, dan representasi vektor di kelas eksperimen. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir spasial siswa dan memberikan dasar kuat empirik bagi guru untuk memberikan materi vektor dengan memperdalam konteks nyata.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi integrasi bangunan bersejarah dan tradisi masyarakat pesisir ke dalam rencana pembelajaran matematika sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan literasi matematika siswa. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi partisipatif dan wawancara mendalam terhadap tokoh budaya serta calon guru matematika di Kecamatan Mayangan, Kota Probolinggo. Dua objek utama yang dikaji adalah Masjid Agung Raudlatul Jannah sebagai representasi bangunan bersejarah dan tradisi Petik Laut sebagai praktik budaya pesisir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk-bentuk geometris seperti persegi panjang, trapesium, lingkaran, tabung, dan kerucut yang terdapat dalam arsitektur masjid dan susunan sesaji Petik Laut dapat diidentifikasi dan diintegrasikan ke dalam rencana pembelajaran matematika sebagai konteks autentik dalam pembelajaran geometri. Integrasi ini diwujudkan melalui pengembangan aktivitas pembelajaran yang melibatkan pengamatan langsung, pengukuran, serta pemecahan masalah berbasis konteks budaya lokal. Rencana pembelajaran dirancang secara kolaboratif oleh calon guru dengan menyesuaikan tujuan pembelajaran dan kurikulum yang berlaku. Temuan ini memperlihatkan bahwa pendekatan etnomatematika berbasis memiliki potensi untuk mendukung keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika, mengembangkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan memperkuat keterkaitan antara matematika dan kehidupan sehari-hari. Integrasi ini juga mendorong pelestarian nilai-nilai budaya lokal melalui proses pendidikan yang kontekstual, bermakna, dan berorientasi pada pemberdayaan daerah pesisir. Kata kunci: literasi matematika, etnomatematika , bangunan bersejarah, tradisi petik laut, pembelajaran kontekstual Abstract: This study aims to explore the integration of historical buildings and coastal community traditions into mathematics lesson planning as an effort to enhance students’ mathematical literacy. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through participatory observations and in-depth interviews involving cultural figures and pre-service mathematics teachers in Mayangan District, Probolinggo City, Indonesia. The two main objects examined were the Raudlatul Jannah Grand Mosque as a representation of historical architecture and the Petik Laut tradition as a coastal cultural practice. The findings indicate that geometric forms such as rectangles, trapezoids, circles, cylinders, and cones identified in the mosque architecture and the arrangement of Petik Laut offerings can be systematically integrated into mathematics lesson plans as authentic contexts for geometry learning. This integration is implemented through the development of learning activities involving observation, measurement, and context-based problem-solving. Lesson plans were collaboratively developed by pre-service teachers in alignment with learning objectives and the national curriculum. Furthermore, the findings suggest that an ethnomathematics approach grounded in local cultural contexts has the potential to support student engagement in mathematics learning, foster problem-solving skills, and strengthen the connection between mathematics and everyday life. This integration also contributes to the preservation of local cultural values through contextual and meaningful educational practices.  Keywords: mathematical literacy, ethnomathematics, historical buildings, petik laut, contextual learning

Abstract

Algebraic thinking is very important because it helps students expand their thinking in solving concrete problems through the ability to identify patterns, recognize relationships between mathematical elements, and understand the structure of a problem. This study aims to analyze the differences in students' algebraic thinking process abilities based on reflective and impulsive cognitive styles. The research method used is a descriptive quantitative method. The subjects of the study were 27 high school students in grade 10. The instruments used in this study consisted of Matching Familiar Figure Test (MFFT) cognitive style test questions, algebra ability test questions, and interview guidelines. The data analysis technique in this study used data triangulation. The results of the analysis showed that students with a reflective cognitive style had an average algebra score of 84 and showed more consistent performance, compared to impulsive students who had an average score of 67. Interview findings supported the quantitative results, where reflective students tended to be thorough, focused on understanding concepts, and careful in solving problems, while impulsive students worked on problems quickly but lacked analysis, resulting in more frequent technical errors. This data triangulation confirmed that cognitive style had a significant effect on students' thinking and performance in solving algebra problems. This study recommends the application of Polya's step-based problem-based learning method for reflective students and game-based learning with self-monitoring strategy for impulsive students as an effort to improve mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of implementing the Game-Based Learning method on students’ learning outcomes in the topic of Simple Fractions for fourth-grade elementary school students. The background of this study was based on students’ low understanding of fraction concepts, as indicated by classroom observations and initial test scores that were below the minimum mastery criteria. To address this issue, the Game Based Learning method was applied by integrating game elements into the learning process, thereby enhancing students’ motivation, participation, and comprehension. This research employed a quantitative approach using a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The participants consisted of 25 fourth-grade students. The research instruments were pretest and posttest questions used to measure students’ learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the learning method. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics through normality testing and the Paired Sample t-Test. The results showed that the mean pretest score of 58.00 increased to 79.52 in the posttest. Furthermore, the Paired Sample t-Test revealed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Game-Based Learning method had a significant positive effect on improving students’ learning outcomes in the topic of Simple Fractions among fourth-grade elementary school students.
