Abstract

Stroke, a prevalent nerve disorder in Indonesia, necessitates post-stroke rehabilitation like physical and occupational therapy. Hand and finger muscle training, crucial for restoring movement, often involves innovative solutions like finger prosthetic robotics arms. In particular, the advancement in thumb robotics emphasizes the estimation of thumb motion, where the ensemble Kalman filter square root (EnKF-SR) and H-infinity methods are deemed dependable for both linear and nonlinear models. Simulation results, using 400 ensembles, demonstrated nearly identical accuracy between the methods, exceeding 99%, with a 6-7% increase in accuracy compared to 200 ensembles. These advancements offer promising prospects for effective post-stroke rehabilitation and improved thumb movement restoration.

Abstract

The use of technology has a significant impact to reduce the consequences of accidents. Sensors, small components that detect interactions experienced by various components, play a crucial role in this regard. This study focuses on how the MPU6050 sensor module can be used to detect the movement of people who are falling, defined as the inability of the lower body, including the hips and feet, to support the body effectively. An airbag system is proposed to reduce the impact of a fall. The data processing method in this study involves the use of a threshold value to identify falling motion. The results of the study have identified a threshold value for falling motion, including an acceleration relative (AR) value of less than or equal to 0.38 g, an angle slope of more than or equal to 40 degrees, and an angular velocity of more than or equal to 30 °/s. The airbag system is designed to inflate faster than the time of impact, with a gas flow rate of 0.04876 m3 /s and an inflating time of 0.05 s. The overall system has a specificity value of 100%, a sensitivity of 85%, and an accuracy of 94%.

Abstract

This research explores a sun tracking system for solar panels that affects the power output of the panels. To address this, a unidirectional sun tracking system is implemented to ensure the solar panels are perpendicular to the sun, thus optimizing solar radiation. Additionally, reflectors are integrated to capture more sunlight. This research aims to design the system of unidirectional sun tracking to enhance the power output generated by solar panels and compare its performance with stationary (static) solar panels. The results demonstrate that the system of sun tracking improves the power output of solar panels. However, when reflectors are used in conjunction with the sun tracking system, no significant increase in power output is observed. Moreover, solar panels equipped with the unidirectional sun tracking system exhibit a power increase of 52.06 Watts compared to stationary solar panels. This research indicates that employing a unidirectional sun tracking system with the addition of reflectors does not enhance power output but instead reduces it due to the increased temperature effect caused by the sunlight reflection from the added reflectors.

Abstract

Electricity is a crucial aspect in human life. With population growth, ongoing regional development, and continuous construction activities, the demand for electricity and fuel in Indonesia is increasing. The substantial power consumption leads to larger financial expenditures for the community. Additionally, the use of electricity, as it has been traditionally employed, has negative environmental impacts. Solutions are needed to address these issues, and one effort involves the use of renewable energy, such as the development of solar power plants (PLTS). PLTS, also known as solar cells, is preferred as it can be used for various relevant purposes in different locations, particularly in offices, factories, residential areas, and others. However, the use of static, single-axis, and dual-axis solar panels still has drawbacks, such as suboptimal sunlight intensity and high motor power consumption. Therefore, a flexible-axis solar panel tracking system has been developed to follow the direction of sunlight, ensuring optimal power efficiency, and significant electricity generation. The flexible-axis tracker system results in a 34.13% increase in power efficiency.

Abstract

The declining understanding and interest in historical studies among the millennial generation is a growing concern. Tourism has the potential to serve as a medium for enhancing historical comprehension, with the Trowulan site—an archaeological relic of the Majapahit Kingdom in Mojokerto Regency, East Java—offering a prime example. This study aims to analyze the activities and benefits of tourism based on historical heritage sites like Trowulan. A qualitative research method was employed, using a historical and descriptive-interpretative approach. Data were collected through literature reviews, field observations, and interviews conducted on-site. The findings indicate four key benefits millennial visitors gain from tourism activities at Trowulan: discovering physical evidence of the Majapahit Kingdom; increasing knowledge of Majapahit history through storytelling at the site; gaining new insights into Indonesia’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage; and fostering a deeper appreciation of the unique architectural achievements of Indonesia’s ancestors. The urgency of this study lies in addressing the declining interest among younger generations in cultural and historical education, which threatens the preservation of Indonesia's rich heritage. The novelty of this research is its focus on millennial visitors and its exploration of innovative strategies, such as integrating storytelling and interactive activities, to engage this demographic. This study contributes to the academic literature on heritage tourism by providing insights into the role of historical sites in promoting cultural and educational values. Practically, it offers actionable recommendations for tourism stakeholders to develop creative programs that ensure the sustainability and relevance of cultural heritage sites like Trowulan for future generations.

Abstract

This research leverages artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to develop a predictive model for forecasting tourist arrivals in East Java Province, Indonesia, using a comprehensive dataset encompassing historical tourism statistics from 2018 to 2020, seasonal trends, promotional campaigns, and various economic and social variables. The study evaluates three AI methodologies: artificial neural network (ANN), extreme learning machine (ELM), and Jordan recurrent neural network (JRNN), each known for their distinct strengths in processing complex data and adapting to changing trends. The comparative analysis reveals that the JRNN model outperforms others with the highest precision, achieving an average prediction deviation of just 2.98% from actual data, effectively capturing temporal and seasonal trends. The ANN follows closely with a deviation of 3.31%, showing strong capabilities in handling complex, nonlinear relationships. In contrast, the ELM, though fastest in training, exhibits a larger deviation of 10.51%, indicating a trade-off between speed and accuracy. These results highlight the potential of AI to significantly enhance the accuracy and operational efficiency of tourism forecasts, offering robust tools for stakeholders to engage in informed strategic planning and resource allocation in dynamic market conditions.

Abstract

The fisheries and marine sector in East Java has abundant potential, one of which is Banyuwangi district. Banyuwangi Regency has potential in freshwater aquaculture because it has 324 rivers with an area of 735 km2 and swamps and reservoirs of 60 hectares. One of the villages in Banyuwangi Regency is Segobang Village, which has the potential to have abundant water sources and continuous flow. This potential can be utilized by training and assisting fish nurseries in Segobang Village by utilizing continuously flowing water and Smart Aquaculture Automatized System (SAAS) technology by utilizing biofilters and running water and aeration as a source of oxygen.  The stages carried out in this community service are as follows: initial assessment of the location, infrastructure and technology development, periodic training and mentoring, implementation and monitoring of the cultivation process, and continued marketing and sales. After the training, the Segobang Village community showed a significant increase in knowledge. The average pre-test scores ranged from 30 to 51, while the post-test scores increased to 79 to 87. This improvement shows that participants better understand the SAAS and its use in fish farming. Continued training and practice can help strengthen the adoption of this technology in the community.

Abstract

Indonesia will experience a demographic bonus in 2030, where the productive age group will dominate the population and become a buffer for the economy. However, this potential is in vain if human resources experience stunting. According to WHO (2015), stunting is a disorder of child growth and development due to chronic malnutrition and repeated infections, characterized by below-standard length or height. Based on the background of the problem, the author wants to compare the prediction of the prevalence of the highest stunting cases in East Java using the Naive Bayes method and the K-Nearest Neighbor method. The stages carried out in this study are data collection, initial data processing, advanced data processing using the Naïve Bayes Method and K-Nearest Neighbor, and comparative analysis. The results of the implementation of the Naïve Bayes and K-Nearest Neighbor methods are in the form of stunting prevalence prediction charts with variables that affect LBW and TTD. The results of simulations conducted in 6 regions, the Naive Bayes method gets the highest accuracy value of 83.33% in simulation one and 66.67%. The smallest RMSE value is 0.382 simulation 1 and 0.469 simulation 2. This shows that the Naive Bayes method can predict well.
