Abstract

Globalization and modernization have made English proficiency a key factor in student success. However, Indonesia's performance remains low, ranking 79th out of 113 countries in the EF English Proficiency Index, with only 46% of students in Bekasi Regency meeting the minimum standard in 2021. This study investigates the impact of intrapersonal intelligence and learning models. Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Discovery Learning (DL)—on English achievement among vocational high school students. Using a 2x2 factorial experimental design, 70 students were assigned to PjBL (experimental) and DL (control) groups, categorized by high (B1) and low (B2) intrapersonal intelligence. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey tests. Results revealed: (1) PjBL led to significantly better outcomes than DL; (2) a significant interaction existed between learning models and intrapersonal intelligence; (3) students with high intrapersonal intelligence in the PjBL group outperformed their DL counterparts by 13.20 points; (4) students with low intrapersonal intelligence performed better with DL, with a score difference of -3.90. These findings suggest vocational English teachers should apply PjBL for students with strong intrapersonal skills and DL for those with lower levels. Policymakers are urged to incorporate emotional intelligence components into national curriculum development.

Abstract

This study examines the increase in education costs in Indonesia and its impact on the social and economic aspects of society through a literature study approach. Over the past few years, the cost of education has been increasing, adding to the financial burden on families, especially for those from the lower middle economic class. The study identified the direct costs (such as tuition and development costs) and indirect costs (such as books, transportation, and digital technology needs) that contribute to the increased burden. This increase exacerbates inequality in access to education and limits opportunities for underprivileged groups. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has further exacerbated this problem by widening the digital divide that causes many students to fall behind in the learning process. Government programs, such as PIP, KIP Lectures, and BOS, have provided assistance, but face obstacles in terms of proper and effective distribution. This study recommends sustainable and inclusive education financing reforms, including endowments, results-based financing, and public-private partnerships, as well as strengthening data collection and governance systems. Education should be seen not only as an economic investment, but also as a social investment that plays a role in promoting equality and sustainable development

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) Program in reducing school dropout rates in Indonesia through a literature review approach. This study was conducted by analyzing various scientific sources such as journal articles, research reports, final projects, and relevant official policy documents, especially those published between 2017 and 2023. The results of the analysis show that the KIP Program contributes significantly to increasing access to and participation in education, especially for students from underprivileged families. The educational financial assistance provided is able to reduce the economic burden on households, thus acting as a preventive instrument against the risk of dropping out of school. However, the effectiveness of this program still faces a number of challenges, including inaccurate targeting of recipients, delays in fund distribution, lack of socialization, and weak monitoring and evaluation systems. In addition, the downward trend in the number of KIP recipients in recent years has been caused by budget rationalization, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and data updates through the Dapodik and DTKS systems. Based on these findings, this study recommends the need to improve distribution policies, increase the accuracy of recipient data, and strengthen coordination between stakeholders in order to optimize the impact of the program on reducing school dropout rates sustainably.

Abstract

The School Activity and Budget Plan Application (SAPB) plays an important role in the digitalization of school financial management, promoting transparency and accountability. However, the implementation of SAPB often faces technical and non-technical challenges that hinder the effective management of school funds. This study aims to analyze the implementation of SAPB in supporting financial governance in schools located in South Jakarta. The research used a mixed-methods approach, collecting data through questionnaires and interviews with principals, school treasurers, and operators. The findings indicate that SAPB significantly helps in financial supervision, transaction recording, and data synchronization, yet technical issues such as system errors and slow access persist, along with non-technical challenges such as inadequate training and support. This study concludes that improving SAPB’s technical quality, enhancing user capacity through comprehensive training, and strengthening      infrastructure      support      are      essential      to      optimize      SAPB      implementati on.

Abstract

Inequality of access to education in Indonesia is still a major problem, especially for low-income people (MBR). The high dropout rate in this group reflects structural and economic barriers that hinder the sustainability of education. The government responded through education subsidies such as the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP), School Operational Assistance (BOS), and scholarships for poor families. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the program in reducing dropout rates and increasing graduation through  the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to literature and data for the past five years. The results show that the subsidy has reached around 3.8 million recipients, reduced the dropout rate by 42%, and increased graduation by 68%, with a budget of Rp4.2 trillion. Despite showing moderate efficiency, challenges remain, such as uneven distribution of funds and limited aid. The conclusion of this study is that education subsidies contribute significantly to increasing access and sustainability of education for MBR, but improvements are needed in governance and data collection.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to review and propose a conceptual model of sustainable education financing in the context of developing countries, integrating the principles of education economics and fiscal sustainability. The background of this research is based on the fact that many education systems face long-term fiscal pressures, dependence on central funds, and weak financing governance.  This research was conducted through a conceptual approach based on a comprehensive literature review. The main sources included books on educational economics theory, indexed scientific journals (Scopus, ERIC), and reports from global institutions such as the OECD, UNESCO, and the World Bank. The analysis was conducted through a narrative synthesis of three main dimensions: fiscal, institutional and political sustainability. The study produced a Sustainable Education Financing (SEF) model consisting of four main components: (1) Revenue Mix Strategy to diversify funding sources; (2) Rule-Based Allocation as a results-based allocation mechanism; (3) Stability Fund and Endowment Fund to anticipate fiscal risks; and (4) Digital-based Integrated Monitoring and Evaluation System. This model promotes efficiency, accountability, and multi-actor participation. The main novelty of this article lies in the development of a financing framework that incorporates an interdisciplinary approach and the principle of long-term sustainability.

Abstract

Private schools play a crucial role in the provision of primary and secondary education in Indonesia, particularly in areas not yet fully covered by public education services. This study aims to analyze the operational feasibility of a private junior high school (SMP) operating under the Regular School Operational Assistance (BOS) fund without tuition fees. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, an operational budget simulation was conducted, taking into account the minimum requirement standards and the commonly used teacher-student ratio assumptions. Based on the 2025 BOS unit cost of Rp1,260,000 per student, the simulation results indicate that a private school requires at least 507 students (with a teacher-student ratio of 1:25) to 583 students (with a ratio of 1:20) to cover all routine operational needs without relying on other funding sources. These findings confirm that only large-scale private schools can likely survive without tuition fees, even with high management efficiency and a lean organizational structure. Conversely, small schools scattered across Indonesia face the risk of becoming unsustainable without additional funding alternatives or policy interventions. Therefore, this study recommends an affirmative policy in the form of adjusting the BOS unit costs based on the number of students, region, and institutional status, to ensure the sustainability of equitable and fair education.

Abstract

Digital content creation literacy has become a crucial competency for teachers in the era of technology-driven learning. This study synthesizes findings from 15 Scopus-indexed studies focusing on the effectiveness of online teacher professional development programs in enhancing teachers' skills to design and produce digital learning products, such as interactive videos, web-based modules, and infographics. The review was conducted using the PRISMA framework, ensuring a systematic and transparent process of article identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion. The analysis reveals that online TPD is most effective when it incorporates hands-on digital product creation, combined with structured mentoring, peer feedback, and the integration of synchronous and asynchronous sessions. Programs emphasizing collaborative online communities foster continuous skill improvement and knowledge sharing among educators. Meanwhile, studies that did not center on digital product creation highlight the importance of strengthening teachers' TPACK frameworks and digital literacy foundations as prerequisites for quality content development. For the Indonesian context, the findings suggest that a blended online TPD model, integrating practice-based modules, national and local collaborative forums, AI-assisted tools, and the development of Open Educational Resources, is optimal for sustainable improvement. This review also identifies research gaps, particularly the lack of large-scale local studies and the limited evaluation of classroom-level impacts. Future research should focus on assessing the quality of teacher-created digital products and their direct influence on student learning outcomes.
