Abstract

The weakening of the Rupiah against the US dollar has encouraged Bank Indonesia to issued Bank Indonesia Regulation (Peraturan Bank Indonesia - PBI) No. 17/3/2015. The research aimed to analyze the factors that affected the Rupiah exchange rate, the effect of PBI No. 17/3/2015 on the movement of the Rupiah exchange rate, and the behavior of exchange rate movement to the shocks on the variables that influenced it. The research applied secondary data, namely monthly data from January 2008 to April 2019 taken from reliable sources such as National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Bank Indonesia (BI), and Statistics Indonesia (BPS). It was explanatory research with a quantitative approach. The studied data were processed with the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method to identify long and short-term effects. The results of the long-term equation show that export-import has a negative effect on the exchange rate. Similarly, inflation has no significant effect on the exchange rate. Then, the money supply has a significantly negative effect on the exchange rate. However, the interest rate of Bank Indonesia positively affects the exchange rate. Next, the implementation of PBI No. 17/3/2015 has a significant and positive impact on the exchange rate. Last, the crisis condition does not affect the changes in exchange rates.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Retail industry is an industry whose business activities provide products in the form of goods and or services to individuals, themselves, families or households. In the past few years there have been many closures of retail outlets in Indonesia. In 2016 in global retail development, it was noted that Indonesia was included in the 5 most active retail countries as well as being among the 5 countries with the biggest sales in Asia. In recent years there have been many closures of retail outlets in Indonesia. The current retail condition in Indonesia faces many problems, one of which is the distortion of new income, namely retail that has no place or so-called electronic commerce (e-commerce). E-commerce involves buying and selling products (such as physical goods, digital products or services) that are transacted through computer networks. This study uses data from 23 companies to describe the condition of the retail business in Indonesia. Data collected from 2013 to 2017 and analyzed using panel data regression with three approaches Altman, Springate and Zmijewski. All companies experienced a decline in financial performance. The factors that influence the condition of financial distress are net profit margin, current ratio, size of firm and total asset turn over.

Abstract

EnglishEconomic development contributes to integration and trade dynamics among countries. From now on, with global economic crisis as background setting, market diversification seems to be an appropriate strategy to minimize the hazardous impact on Indonesia’s trade balance performance. It appears that the Middle East is a promising region with Turkey, Tunisia, dan Morocco as potential trade partners. An Intra Industry Trade (IIT) analysis shows that Indonesia experiences a relatively higher trade integration with Turkey compared to those with Tunisia and Morocco. In the meantime,  a Constant Market Share Analysis (CMS) analysis indicates that the existing export dynamics is convergence for potential products. These products of animal and vegetable fats and  oils, wood and wood products, and rubber and rubber products vary in decomposition effects in each trade partner. Combination of market intelligence and export product differentiation is considered as a comprehensive recommendation in first round stage for the Indonesia-Middle East FTA.

Abstract

Abstract

Rubber is a people's commodity that contributes greatly to the Indonesian economy. However, the price of natural rubber fluctuates with a downward trend, thus affecting state income and the welfare of Indonesian rubber farmers. Therefore, the natural rubber-producing countries in the ITRC forum agreed to increase domestic natural rubber consumption in their respective countries as an effort to stabilize the price of rubber in the world. This policy was later referred to as the Demand Promotion Scheme (DPS). This study aims to see the impact of the application of DPS as a domestic natural rubber trade policy on the welfare of Indonesian rubber farmers. The analysis uses an econometric model in the form of a system of simultaneous equations which is estimated by the Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS) method using the 1992–2017 annual data series. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of policies to increase domestic natural rubber consumption can improve the welfare of Indonesian rubber farmers.
