Abstract

EnglishIndonesian government has been promoting development of palm oil based biodiesel industry through the so-called biodiesel mandatory policy. Biodiesel is a renewable energy and low emission. Palm oil and its derivative products are the most important contributors of foreign exchange in 2017. Trade policy is required to accelerate the achievement of biodiesel industry development in Indonesia. The study is intended to analyze the impacts of trade policy (export tax by Indonesian government and import restriction by the European Union) on the development of Indonesia’s biodiesel industry. The analysis used econometrics model in the form of simultaneous equations system consisting of 27 structural and 9 identity equations, estimated using the 2SLS (Two Stage Least Squares) method. This research used annual time series data 1991–2015. The result shows that both the export tax policy by Indonesian government and palm oil import ban by European Union have positive impacts on Indonesia's biodiesel industry but do have negative impacts on the foreign exchange revenues. The negative impacts on foreign exchange revenues can be avoided by replanting policy. Whenever the European Union imposes palm oil import ban policy; then, it is suggested that Indonesian government imposes the domestic market obligation and replanting policy.

Abstract

The increase is in construction activities is not always good considering that in the construction sub-sectors, the company is a long-term investment, and the payment is following the terms of project completion, causing a decrease in the company's profitability. This study aims to analyze the company's profitability in the construction subsector and the impact of the company's external and internal factors in the construction subsector. This study uses a simulation method with a simultaneous equation model consisting of seven simultaneous equations and six identity equations estimated using the 2SLS method (Two-Stage Least Squares). The Results Showed that if the gross domestic product fell by 4% and the cost of revenue decreased by 5%, it resulted in an increase in return on assets by 12.95% (to 1.93% ROA) and returned on equity equal to 4. 07 (ROE to 27.96%). If inflation rises by 4% and the cost of revenue decreased by 5%, it would increase is the return on assets by 12.79 (ROA to 1.92%) and return on equity by 3:52% (ROE to 27.81%). If inflation rises by 4%, the gross domestic product falls by 4%, and cost of goods costs fall by 5%, the resulting in an increase in return on assets by 9.61% (ROA to 1.87%) and return on equity by 1.96% (ROE to 27.39%). Abstract

Palm oil is Indonesia's main export commodity. The EU is Indonesia's largest palm oil importer second after India, so it can affect the condition of Indonesia's palm oil exports. In 2009 the EU issued a Renewable Energy Directive that may have an impact on Indonesia's palm oil exports. The purpose of this study was to analyze the competitive position of Indonesian palm oil using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and the Export Product Dynamics (EPD) as well as analyze the impact of policies Renewable Energy Directive towards the export value of Indonesian palm oil using gravity models. RCA analysis results indicate that the Indonesian palm oil has a comparative advantage (RCA> 1). Analysis of Indonesian palm oil EPD average is in position "Rising Star". The results of the analysis of gravity models show a real GDP per capita in the country of destination, the population of the country of destination, the export price of palm oil, and the Renewable Energy Directive policies significantly affect the value of exports of palm oil, while Indonesia and the real exchange rate had no significant effect within the economy.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIndonesia’s export dependency on traditional marketcan be minimized by diversifying export markets. Rubber (HS 4001-natural rubber) is one of Indonesia's main export commoditiesto Latin America. Given Indonesia's export growth to Latin America, the region could become potential market for diversifying export markets. This study aimed to analyze the competitiveness of rubber commodities and the factors affecting Indonesian rubber exports to Latin America, using secondary data ie cross section data of 6 export destination countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru) and time series data during 7 years (2009-2015). The analysis tools used RCA, EPD, and gravity model. Based on average RCA value, HS 4001 (natural rubber) Indonesia’s product is able to compete in Latin American market. Meanwhile EPD analysis identified, Indonesia’s main commodities are on rising star, falling star, and retreat positions. Gravity model analysis shows that the factors which influence Indonesia’s export to America Latin are GDP of export destination countries, real exchange rate, export price, and economic distance.

Abstract

The problem of national food security could not be resolved if the problems at the lowest level (household) did not resolved. One of the effective strategy to achieve food security was increasing food diversification. This study compared the patterns of consumption and the level of diversification of household food among provinces that were resistant to food insecurity. This study used National Socio-Economic Survey (Survei Sosial Ekonomi Nasional/SUSENAS) data from Statistic Indonesia and analyzed using the Berry index and the Almost Ideal Demand System (LA / AIDS) model. This study found that the level of income and the level of food diversification in food secure province (East Kalimantan) were higher than those in food insecure province (East Nusa Tenggara). The patterns of household food consumption in East Nusa Tenggara province was more influenced by changes in income, while East Kalimantan was subject to price changes.

Abstract

The weakening of the Rupiah against the US dollar has encouraged Bank Indonesia to issued Bank Indonesia Regulation (Peraturan Bank Indonesia - PBI) No. 17/3/2015. The research aimed to analyze the factors that affected the Rupiah exchange rate, the effect of PBI No. 17/3/2015 on the movement of the Rupiah exchange rate, and the behavior of exchange rate movement to the shocks on the variables that influenced it. The research applied secondary data, namely monthly data from January 2008 to April 2019 taken from reliable sources such as National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Bank Indonesia (BI), and Statistics Indonesia (BPS). It was explanatory research with a quantitative approach. The studied data were processed with the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method to identify long and short-term effects. The results of the long-term equation show that export-import has a negative effect on the exchange rate. Similarly, inflation has no significant effect on the exchange rate. Then, the money supply has a significantly negative effect on the exchange rate. However, the interest rate of Bank Indonesia positively affects the exchange rate. Next, the implementation of PBI No. 17/3/2015 has a significant and positive impact on the exchange rate. Last, the crisis condition does not affect the changes in exchange rates.
