Abstract

Ghana prioritizes the production of raw cocoa beans while engaging in trade for other commodities. Although cocoa holds significant economic importance for Ghana, there is a notable gap in research regarding the economic factors influencing cocoa exports, especially between European and Asian markets. The effects of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), trade taxes, and economic distance on trade flows, market accessibility, and sustainability in these regions remain ambiguous. This study utilized panel data from 2001 to 2023, employing the gravity model through Panel Ordinary Least Squares (POLS), Generalized Least Squares (GLS), and Poisson Pseudo-Maximization Likelihood (PPML) estimation methods. The findings indicate that Ghana's bilateral cocoa trade with European and Asian markets is significantly influenced by Ghana's GDP, the economies of its trading partners, international trade taxes, and economic distance. To enhance Ghana's bilateral cocoa trade, forming trade agreements with emerging Asian economies could reduce barriers and improve market access. Ghana should consider revising cocoa export duties to increase competitiveness and negotiate with trade partners to lower import tariffs on its cocoa products in Asian markets.

Abstract

An important factor that becomes a consideration for investors in purchasing bonds as an investment instrument is the bond yield. Bond yields are used to calculate how much income the investors will get in a certain period of time. The yield movement can be influenced by various factors. This study aims to analyze the effect of bond prices, BI rate, inflation, and exchange rates on medium-term (10 years) and long term (30 years) Indonesian government bond yields. Data used in this research were monthly time series data from January 2015 to December 2019. The time-series data were analyzed by VAR/VECM. The results of the study found that bond price had a significant negative effect on medium term and long term government bond yields. The interest rate had a significant positive effect on long term government bond yields and the exchange rate had a significant positive effect on medium term government bond yields. Inflation had no significant effect on medium and long term government bonds yields. The exchange rate made the greatest contribution to medium term government bond yield changes while long term government bond made the greatest contribution to bond prices. Abstract

The Indonesia Endowment Funds for Education (LPDP) has an important role in supporting the government's vision to create superior human resources for advanced Indonesia through the provision of scholarship programs. However, so far, LPDP has not measured the impact (output) generated by the alumni of the scholarship recipients. This study further aims to analyze how the LPDP scholarship program can affect the improvement of leadership aspects and social and economic contributions of the recipients. This study involved a sample of 388 LPDP scholarship recipients both from within and outside the country, who were selected through the stratified random sampling method. The collected data was then analyzed using PLS-SEM (Partial Square Least-Structural Equation Modeling) analysis. The results of the study show that the scholarship program is able to positively and significantly improve aspects of the leadership, social and economic contributions of alumni who are recipients of the LPDP scholarship program. Thus, the LPDP institution can increase the output generated from its alumni by optimizing the scholarship program through evaluation of the debriefing preparation program (PK), the establishment of empowerment and talent pooling programs, as well as increasing the intensity of cooperation (synergy) between LPDP recipient alumni organizations. Abstract

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has a function to provide social security for employees who work in Indonesia, both Indonesian citizens and foreign citizens, including Indonesian migrant workers. BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participation in Indonesia is mandatory by law, but based on internal data of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (2021) there are still many workers who have not become participants. Therefore, outreach is needed by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan to implement its function. Where 99,9% of participants and prospective participants are workers who work in micro, small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs). This study aims to analyze the effect of outreach on the financial sustainability of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and to describe whether there is a trade-off or compatible. This study uses secondary data in the form of a cross-section consisting of 122 BPJS Ketenagakerjaan main branch offices in Indonesia in 2018. The analytical method used in this study is the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. The outreach carried out by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has effect on its financial sustainability. It can be concluded that there is a trade-off between outreach and the financial sustainability of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. This indicates that when BPJS Ketenagakerjaan wants to maintain its financial sustainability, it will reduce the outreach of services and potential participants. Abstract

Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) have an important and strategic role in national economic development. This study aims to identify and analyze problems in the implementation of microfinance services for MSEs in Indonesia and develop a collaborative model involving relevant stakeholders, especially financial institutions and universities, to support microfinance and improve the performance of MSEs in Indonesia. The research method used in this research is Soft Systems Methodology (SSM), utilizing data from FGDs, in-depth interviews, and observations. The results of the study show that financing constraints for MSEs can be seen from two perspectives, namely the MSEs themselves (demand side) and financial institutions (supply side). Collaborative models between various stakeholders, especially between financial institutions and universities, can be an alternative solution to strengthen access to microfinance services and improve the performance of micro and small businesses in Indonesia. In terms of transaction cost theory, universities can reduce the transaction costs of financial institutions through research, education, innovation, and partnerships with financial institutions. Therefore it can be concluded that collaboration between universities and financial institutions can make a valuable contribution to developing more efficient and cost-effective solutions in the financial industry, especially in increasing access to microfinance services and the performance of MSEs in Indonesia. Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia has responded to the timber certification obligation imposed by importing countries, particularly the European Union, by implementing the Indonesian Timber Legality Assurance System (Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu-SVLK). This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the SVLK policy on the state of the Indonesian forestry industry and the performance of Indonesian wood goods, mostly plywood, in the international market. Secondary data on Indonesian wood product exports, classified under HS Code 4412, were utilized in this investigation. The analysis revealed that comparative advantage (RCA) analysis was used to assess the competitiveness of Indonesian wood products, while panel data analysis was utilized to assess the impact of the SVLK policy on Indonesian wood export performance. The implementation of SVLK enhanced the value of Indonesian plywood exports; however, the increase was still relatively small compared to other major exporting countries. According to the estimation results, the use of SVLK had a positive impact on the Indonesian plywood trade in the international market. However, Indonesia's ability to increase its market share was still critical so that the Indonesian plywood industry could maximize the potential for expansion in demand for plywood.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine how much soybean imports contribute to the total imports of the food crop subsector and the effect of production, harvest area, exchange rate and consumption on Indonesia's soybean imports. The data used in this study are secondary data in the form of time series data for the period 2002-2022 derived from surveys that have been processed by the Central Bureau of Statistics. The analysis method used is descriptive and quantitative analysis using simultaneous analysis tools. The results showed that the contribution of soybean imports to the total imports of the food crop subsector in Indonesia experienced a fluctuating increase each year with an average of 24.87 percent. Based on the results of multiple linear analysis, it is concluded that the factors influencing soybean imports in Indonesia are jointly influenced by the variables of soybean production, harvest area, exchange rate and Indonesian soybean consumption. While simultaneously and partially the variables of soybean production and consumption have a positive and significant influence on Indonesian soybean imports, while the variable of harvest area has a negative and significant effect, the exchange rate has a negative and insignificant effect on Indonesian soybean imports.

Abstract

Ragunan Wildlife Park (TMR) is one of the largest zoos in Indonesia which is a public body managed by the DKI Jakarta local government facing challenges in managing staff occupational safety risks, especially those who interact directly with dangerous animals. Some of the accidents that occurred showed that the existing safety procedures were not fully effective. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of ISO 31000-based occupational safety risk management in TMR and provide recommendations for improvement of existing systems. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving interviews with staff, direct observation, and document analysis related to risk management implemented in TMR. The data obtained were analyzed using the ISO 31000 framework to assess the effectiveness of risk management and identify areas that need to be improved in occupational safety procedures. The results show that TMR has identified a wide range of safety risks, such as wild animal attacks, work equipment accidents, and fire risks. The implementation of ISO 31000 in risk management helps improve safety procedures by improving staff training, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and regular risk evaluation. However, there are still challenges in terms of communication between staff, supervision, and readiness to face emergency situations. The implications of this study show that the application of ISO 31000 can be a more systematic basis in managing safety risks in TMR. This research makes an important contribution to improving staff occupational safety and provides recommendations for more effective risk management, which in turn supports the smooth operation and sustainability of conservation programs at TMR.
